A Person Can Register in any Unit...As long as the Unit agrees...I have seen people pay and stay registered with their "Home" Unit regardless where they Live. If a Unit wants to Carry someone on their Rolls as a Member they Can to Bump their Stats..I know people who are states away and have not attended any Local events in Many years but have never had a Lapse in Membership in their Home Unit. I myself have looked into registering with another Unit in another Council in order to Volunteer and Be Active in a Better Functioning Council and OA Lodge..My Local Council and Lodge should be disbanded...Neither seem to be representing BSA in the Best Interest of The Scouts...They seem to Exist for a Select few..I am Unregistered at the Moment and May Never Re-Register unless I do move to an Area where I can Volunteer and not just be expected to Donate Money Money Money Money and More Money without being Involved

Youth Protection In The Digital Age.

Anyone else think we have created a Mass Hysteria about nothing.....I am being to wonder if Scouting Can survive another 100 years in today's paranoid.. Are Leaders Expected to be rude if they run into a Youth at a School Activity...or at Wal-Mart or Gas Station...Look They were 1 on 1 ... Will Scouters be required to wear Body Cameras to ensure no 1 on 1 is actually Happening.... America is becoming a Legislative Mess... Working in a State Prison I have to deal with the Consequences of P.R.E.A ( Prison Rape Elimination Act) which sounds find and Dandy...But Offenders use it to Bring False accusations against Officers....Now They Require a 90 Day Follow Up....During that 90 Day Follow Up Period..The Officer is not allowed to work around that Offender and Even if it is Discovered that the Allegations are Untrue the Complaint will stay on your Permanent Record... Like others Back in My Youth...I rode to some meetings or Activities with an Adult Leader..I went to My MBC Home alone...I walked to Scout Meetings and Home After Dark..I even went to a Scout Master's Home and worked for $2 and Hour to pay my Way to Summer Camp when I was to young to get a "real job" Won't be long and No One will want to Volunteer for anything. I guess this is why More and More Traditional MBC are disappearing and why Merit Badge Colleges are being held..for fear of being sued -
I had a thought awhile back...I was gonna Build a Chuck box on a Small Trailer..Getting to old to Carry one..Plus I seem to have enough stuff for 10 Chuckboxes.Troop Trailers are being frowned upon...and To Bulky...I thought why not have a Small Trailer which could be dropped in Camp..And No Unloading and reloading stuff..Seems I am behind the Times. I found a Forum that people talk about converting and Building trailers similar to the Aussie outback Trailers...Some cool Trailers there .. http://tventuring.com/trailerforum What do yall think about these type of trailers? for units who do more stationary type camping of course

Last Year's SR2-3N Conclave was held indoors. Will it Be Outdoors?

Best to My Knowledge....Each Council gets their own Sponsors...So The Cards Vary as do the sponsors
-
Northwest Texas Council did Camp Cards last two years...Depending on The Sponsors you get, People will buy like Crazy...I find they sell. easier than Popcorn. One Sponsor here is $3 off a Full Carwash..One year we had a Pop Off buy 1 Get 1 Free Big Mac..

Anyone here besides me...been in a Scouting Unit do a Rim to Rim at the Grand Canyon.....I did that well before I ever heard of Philmont.. Just learned of KISC last year...and I was stationed overseas in Europe There are plenty of High Adventure at State and National Parks. And There is Now Swampbase.....but Like The Majority of BSA CAmps which provide "planned" Treks with set activities..it requires advanced planning and commitment

To Many Rules.... Not Enough Outdoors... To Many Rules To Many Cliques among-st the Volunteers Not Every Council is the Same...Not Every Council Camp is the Same.. BSA is not a Sandals Resort or "Canned" Facility.... Can a Council exist and function with out paid professionals....Yes Can a Council exist and Function without Volunteers....NO Can a Council continue to function and Grow if only certain people are allowed to Volunteer....NO Will Youth remain in scouting after it is no longer Fun.....No

Choosing NonParticipation in Friends Of Scouting
jpstodwftexas replied to SeattlePioneer's topic in Council Relations
For Some people...For Others their Councils seem to squander the Money Raised through FOS...What if your Council held no Summer Camp at it's one Camp for 15 Years....What if That Camp was Barely Maintained....What if that Council held 2 Cub Scout Events at Camp and Until Recently Held their two Boy Scout Events at State Parks and rarely at the Camp...How Much does it Cost to Run 1 Merit Badge Council...How Mush Does it Cost to Hold Roundtable... What percentage of FOS supports Scouts directly... Should Parent(s) be worried about supporting the Unit(s) their son(s) is/are in Directly..Would 150.00 directly to a Unit benefit it a lot Better than getting maybe 1% Back Sounds to Me like for the OP...They would be Better off Raising Money for their CO...Does that Council Have a Camp...Is it up to the Standards of the CO's Free Camp? Is it Better? -
Scout on in Heaven.... Day is done, gone the sun, From the lake, from the hills, from the sky; All is well, safely rest, God is nigh. Fading light, dims the sight, And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright. From afar, drawing nigh, falls the night. Thanks and praise, for our days, 'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, neath the sky; As we go, this we know, God is nigh. Sun has set, shadows come, Time has fled, Scouts must go to their beds Always true to the promise that they made. While the light fades from sight, And the stars gleaming rays softly send, To thy hands we our souls, Lord, commend.

As a Youth on Scout Sunday I attended the Church that Sponsored my Troop in Full Uniform...They appreciated it..As an Adult Leader I attended the Church which Sponsored My Unit.....As an Adult with No Unit I attend My Church of Choice in Uniform.

Invite some OA Members from Another troop over... that will peak some interest for sure.. I never really understood why OA Members should not wear a Ceremonial Sash at BSA Ceremonies...after all Only OA MEmbers should be at OA CEREMONIES..we all Know we are members...Only reason is to distinguish Membership levels

And You Should not have.. [h=3]8.0.0.3 Composition of the Board of Review[/h] A board of review must consist of no fewer than three members and no more than six, all of whom must be at least 21 years of age. For further specifications, see"Particulars for Tenderfoot Through Life Ranks (or Palms),"8.0.2.0, and "Particulars for the Eagle Scout Rank,"8.0.3.0. Unit leaders and assistants shall not serve on aboard of review for a Scout in their own unit. Parents or guardians shall not serve on a board for their son. The candidate or his parent(s) or guardian(s) shall have no part in selecting any board of review members. In my Youth we had to request a BOR by Committee and Show up. BOR never were done during scheduled troop meetings. In the Last Unit I was in...The SM selected the Members who Sat on BOR..needless to say I was not with them that long
