I had Pfizer number 1 Wednesday. By Wednesday night I knew it was there. Thursday, most of the day, a dull roar. Friday morning, life is good.

Red wool jackets? https://www.scoutshop.org/washable-wool-jac-shirt-612783.html again, if it doesn’t fit, get your full measurements and send them to National supply.

My two cents someone wrote the Councils should stay out of this. The plaintiff’s lawyers won’t let that happen. They’re just not on the laser aiming dot ... yet.

Bemidji Woolen Mills still has a wool forest green jacket. That’d be my choice.

I’ve heard that from Army and Marine NCOs, too...

Pack, I went looking for Karen’s nickname here at Scouter, had just found it, and was ready to post the same thing. My heart hurts right now. Gwd-Scouter, Karen Buchanan, was a great Scouter and better friend. Our friendship started here, and then moved to Facebook. One minute you could find us debating ACA at a deep level, the next minute we were sharing some triumph or other of our own kids development as low brass players. I will surely miss her. ok, Keith... @SR540Beaver, your turn.

The saddest thing, to me, is LDS Church nationally licensed the program and then through some means paid for youth memberships. There were specific guides on how to do things for LDS Scouters. LDS walked away from that, AND I presume walked away from the liability coverage granted to a chartered partner. You guys are a big church body, but you’re going to take some fiscal hits in the next decade.

POLICY CHANGE, Diversity and Inclusion MB
John-in-KC replied to John-in-KC's topic in Advancement Resources
Unfortunately, if Camping and Swimming MB are optional for Eagle, then Camping and Swimming will be optional in our ever more STEM oriented scouting program. That’s how I see units and parents these days.- 96 replies

POLICY CHANGE, Diversity and Inclusion MB
John-in-KC replied to John-in-KC's topic in Advancement Resources
I’m going to specifically disagree on Cooking. Because of it, I could cook a steak, make pasta, build a salad, make corn on the cob , and a few other meals. suddenly, in 1999, I found my wife legally desiring to be my ex. We had a 9 year old at the time. Suddenly, I had to feed him, even as I made sure he got his homework done. Suffice it to say, my skills served me well. cooking is an important man skill. I’m glad National returned it to the required list!- 96 replies

DRAFT: DE&I merit badge requirements
John-in-KC replied to CynicalScouter's topic in Advancement Resources
Moderator note Locked due to National Council policy change -
Discussion at Advancement Forum https://www.scouting.org/program-updates/proposed-eagle-scout-required-diversity-equity-and-inclusion-merit-badge-delayed/?fbclid=IwAR0vhrN-iX5aviqmDxkuy-5d3N4PMBMAelEQtXR1fpxz04nSkW00plCqGqQ Proposed Eagle Scout Required Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Merit Badge Delayed January 7, 2021 The introduction of the proposed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion merit badge is being delayed to allow for the careful consideration and evaluation of feedback received from a wide variety of commenters on the draft requirements. Until further notice, all Scouts working on the Eagle Scout rank should continue to use current rank requirements. Once the Eagle-required Diversity, Equity and Inclusion merit badge is introduced, Scouts in the process of earning the rank of Eagle Scout will be given adequate time to earn it. Updates regarding the merit badge will be shared with councils directly and via Scoutingwire. Specific questions are welcome via email at Officeof.ChiefDiversityOfficer@scouting.org.

Model PLC video for scouts AND SMs
John-in-KC replied to CynicalScouter's topic in Wood Badge and adult leader training
Sorry, I disagree. I rejected the call to be a youth again. I earned the right to be an adult, with sweat, tears, and blood. Innocent as I was at 14? I think not. That’s why I was so ticked off at “Win All You Can.” I’d seen friends go to very bad places because of that mentality in the real world. When a 20 year old tried to tell us to be kids again, we told him to shove it where the sun doesn’t shine. Clearly, he had not had his “oh, shit” moment in life yet. Operate on the basis we are adults, please. -
There is a new Eagle Leadership Service Project Workbook According to the National Council, it’s required for use effective immediately https://www.scouting.org/programs/scouts-bsa/advancement-and-awards/eagle-scout-workbook/?fbclid=IwAR2UxdNYKdKDIpTAP1Donc5r_pbqI2-2-VuALtX4qpTdgBOdxMMOB66AIUI

Model PLC video for scouts AND SMs
John-in-KC replied to CynicalScouter's topic in Wood Badge and adult leader training
My personal thought is the SPL and SM need to work together in private a couple times a month. SM spouse and one of SPLs parents should be there for the adult safety issues, but the relationship between these two is what drives the entire PLC process. in addition, the PLC at Wood Badge needs to be dumped. It has NO decision making ability, It’s a tasking meeting. A real PLC makes decisions. -

Significant Cultural Changes are Coming Soon
John-in-KC replied to Cburkhardt's topic in Issues & Politics
If the chartered partnership model changes to more of a council owned model, then those folks won’t be offering advice ... it’ll be directive in nature.
