  1. Unc, Here's my 2nd attempt to answer your question. The Gospel of Mathew Mathew, whose name means "gift of the Lord," was a tax collector who left his work to follow Jesus (9:9-13). In Mark and Luke he is called by his other name, Levi. The Gospel of Mark Mark was a close associate of Peter from whom he received the tradition of the things said and done by the Lord, but as the preaching of Peter...preaching directed to the needs of the early Christian communities; Mark accurately preserved this material. The conclusion drawn from this tradition is that the Gospel of Mark largely consists of the preaching of Peter arranged and shaped by John Mark or by Mark as we know him. The Gospel of Luke Luke 1:1 1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, 2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; 3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, 4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed. This Gospel is a companion book to the book of Acts. They are addressed to the same individual, Theophilus, and the second volume refers to the first Acts (1:11) By Process of elimination this probably Paul's "dear friend, Luke the Doctor" (Col 4:14) The Gospel is specifically directed to Theophilus (as an completed investigation)(1:3), whose name means "one who loves God" and almost certainly refers to a particular person rather than to lovers of God in general. The Gospel of John The author is the apostle John, "the disciple whom Jesus loved" (13:23; 19:26; 20:2; 21:7, 20,24). All information was provided by my Zondervan NIV study Bible. 2. Bob White, I said earlier. "I know I have not been the poster child of my faith. I regret that fact. But please respect the fact I am passionate and I will not attempt to appease anyone by brown nosing. Thank you for reading this post and God Bless. " I have answered your questions. You still will not answer mine. In return you felt it necessary to hammer me down until you personally felt I was manageable in your mind. And finally I was trying to be scout like in my approach. I even expressed my regret,my shame of myself. Do the rules say a Scout should let the other start over(turn a new leaf in attitude)? And will you answer my question and accept my offer? (This message has been edited by Jason OK)
  3. Bob White, Do not forget I was a Boy Scout for 5 years. I know the Scout Law and Oath...I even know the motto and slogan.... I RESPECT their right to make their choice concerning religion ...I, by no means must respect their religion. The "Law" says I must respect their beliefs but if I do so, I would be breaking the "Oath" (To GOD and my Country)....You can say what you will but there needs to be some cleaning up in the Law and Oath if you want to be tyrannically correct. Here in the South I do not think I have been to one of your "by the book" scout worship events....and as far as I know, no ones has been evers offendedings. Little southern charm therefores yas. My Duty FIRST is my FAITH...then family. Country...then Scouting. Your approach to scouting "seems" (I use seems since I do not know you) too tyrannical. I'm glad your memory serves you well by noting it was only two weeks ago I decided to be an adult leader. I have plenty of time to memorize the rules. You said: "So I offer you this thought to reflect on. In the years that Jesus walked among us as a man he spoke often of the glory of God, and God's love for us. Did Jesus use his own name in his lessons? Did he mention himself in order to be able to celebrate his Father? Did he only celebrate his Fathers love with those who believed in Jesus? " YES he did. Quite a few times in fact. If you are intent on everyone having their doctrine in the rules of scouting; I will make you a deal. I will go buy every book you ask me to, if you open your Bible to learn what you said was out of ignorance In return, if I learn anything I said was out of Ignorance; I will publicly apologize to you in any part of this forum you choose. You knowing the truth is that important to me and to God, believe it or not. Did you have an answer for this question? Lets say you and your son did something great.during a daring rescueyou and your son went to help a drowning lady. During this rescue your son died trying to save this lady. Would you be offended if the press only covered your heroic attempt and mentioned nothing of your son? (This message has been edited by Jason OK)
  4. Bob White, You said: "As long as they share the same core belief in God all should be respected for their differences." I can not respect anothers religion. I can respect that God gave us "Free Will" and the ability to use it. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Christians have God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. "Trinity" Every time we sin and we ask for forgiveness; Jesus looks at his father and asks him to forgive us. A Christian has the whole package. We recognize all of God's glory. That is why we can not merely just recognize God. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Bob White you said, "I am sad for you that you feel you need to hear someone say the Lord's name for you to consider it worship." I believe God would be offended. Lets say you and your son did something great.during a daring rescueyou and your son went to help a drowning lady. During this rescue your son died trying to save this lady. Would you be offended if the press only covered your heroic attempt and mentioned nothing of your son? I thank Jesus for going to the cross...when Jesus's "humanity" wanted something else, Jesus did as his father asked.(This message has been edited by Jason OK)
  5. OK...Just got back from a great Church Service...feeling good! Uncleguinea, Here is my attempt to answer the "Heart" of your question. You said "If gospel means Truth (as I have learned it does.) Why does it take four attempts (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) each with a different spin and differing stories, to explain that Truth?" What you must remember is all four book do not conflict with each other. They are merely an eye witnessed report from four different sources. For example: A group of people might look at one painting and agree that is a painting of a baby crying but they may be drawn to different aspects of that painting. Thus a picture is worth a thousand words. When you read the bible in it's entirety...from Genesis to Revelations....it is amazing! there is so much prophecy mentioned in the Old Testament about Jesus (that comes true). Not to mention it is the best historical document for locating ancient locations. One interesting fact about Israel: Only the Jewish people have been able to take the arid land and make it yield an abundance of crops. Deuteronomy 26:15 Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey. Boleta's Post: I have been a very active participant in this thread. I must say it got much better since I squelched one of the posters. The discussion has actually been provocative and interesting. I hope I wasn't one of the ugly posters in my responses (does that mean I am ugly or the posts were ugly?). If so, I apologize to all. Knowing Boleta was referring to me...I would like to make a remark concerning his post. I know I have not been the poster child of my faith. I regret that fact. But please respect the fact I am passionate and I will not attempt to appease anyone by brown nosing. Thank you for reading this post and God Bless.
  6. Uncleguinea, Why don't you ask the Catholics? They counseled and chose what books were to be in the Bible. (Although I believe God was right there with them guiding them) Maybe you should ask yourself this question. "Why do we have more than one news channel reporting the news?" "Why can't we just have CNN?" Christians "Gentiles" Include (Catholics, Protestant, even Mormons) Accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. Jews The Bible says God will forgive the Jewish people of their sins & make them know Him by Jesus opening their eyes. www.bridgesforpeace.com "Christians helping Jews" I will have to finish later.....have to get ready for church. (Saturday Night service...better than getting up early on Sundays) Rooster would do a great job helping explain this also. PS A friend asked me to go to his church a couple of years ago. I went and let him know I was offended. After realizing he was my friend and I basically insulted my friend. I went back to church with him out of respect. Thinking I could disprove what was being taught; I started reading the Bible. The more I read and tried to disprove, the more I could not. My personal story is scarcely different from thousands of Christians today. Oops. Go to go or I am going to be late
  7. ACLU Hypocrisy http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=28781 ACLU assaults Constitution Posted: August 30, 2002 1:00 a.m. Eastern 2002 WorldNetDaily.com Mainstream America is reeling with absolute shock from the politically correct decision of the University of North Carolina requiring incoming freshmen to read "Approaching the Qu-ran: The Early Revelations." The book clearly is a defense of Islam that conveniently leaves out verses that call for the murder of infidels. UNC Chancellor James Moeser, defended his position of assigning the book saying, "It helps us from demonizing a whole group of people with being an enemy simply by practicing the same religion." Apparently the sacred American Civil Liberties Union doctrines of the separation of church and state only apply to Christians and Jews. How else can you explain why the North Carolina ACLU went to court to support the University of North Carolina's mandatory reading assignment of the pro-Islam book for incoming freshmen? UNC was challenged by concerned groups in the state, but the ACLU rode to the rescue and a federal appeals court sided with the university. Try to imagine the ACLU's legal response had UNC Chancellor Moeser assigned all incoming freshmen to read the Old Testament or the Talmud before being admitted. All hell would have broken loose. Yet, there is no hesitation to demand freshmen students be indoctrinated with a theological virus that birthed the murder of almost 3,000 Americans on 9-11. The First Amendment of the Constitution demands that the government take no position on religion. It is expressly the will of the people. Yet the ACLU in its relentless attack on any form of Christianity comes to the defense of the Islamic faith in a tax-supported University defying the establishment clause of the First Amendment of the Constitution. For those of you lost in the fog created by politically correct educators and the absolutely biased ACLU to lead you into believing that Islam is a faith of love and peace, please note this quote from Winston Churchill: That religion [islam], which above all others was founded and propagated by the sword the tenets and principles of which are ... incentives to slaughter and which in three continents had produced fighting breeds of men simulates a wild and merciless fanaticism. This statement from the brilliant political mind that detected and exposed the dangers of communism to the Western world with his "Iron Curtain" speech at Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. For those who believe Sir Winston was biased, let's turn to the actual text of the Koran. All Americans need to know there are two editions of the Koran: One in Arabic and the other in English. The English version is much more mild than the hardcore fundamentalist Arabic version. Sura 5, verse 85 prophesies an inevitable conflict between Muslims and non-Muslims. "Strongest among men in enmity to the believers [Muslims] wilt thou find the Jews and pagans." Sura 9, verse 5 states: "Then fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them. And seize them, beleaguer them and lie and wait for them in every stratagem of war." You can be sure the freshmen at UNC will not be reading these verses. Neither will they read the following: Sura 5:51 states: "O ye who believe [Muslims] take not the Jews or the Christians for your friends and protectors. They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he among you who turns to them [for friendship] is of them." The message is clear. If you accept a Jew or a Christian as a friend, you are not one of us. If you're not one of us you're an infidel. Islamic fundamentalists believe the Koran commands them to fight Christians and Jews: "Fight against those who believe not in Allah, nor in the last day, nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and his messenger [Mohammed] and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth [islam] among the people of the scripture [Christians and Jews] until they pay the Jazyah [a special high tax to be paid only by Christians and Jews who do not renounce their faith and convert to Islam] with willing submission and feel themselves subdued." (Surat At-Taubah 9:29) Does this sound peaceful? Does this sound like someone you would like to have for a next door neighbor? Taxing people into poverty who refuse to convert to your faith is peaceful? Killing people who do not submit to Islam is peaceful? Islam is a sister faith to Christianity? Not hardly! Daniel Pipes, historian, writing for Commentary Magazine's November 2001 issue, records the following shocking story: In June 1991, Siraj Wahaj, a convert to Islam, was a recipient of the American Muslim community's highest honors and had the privilege of becoming the first Muslim to deliver the daily prayer in the U.S. House of Representatives. On that occasion he recited from the Koran an appeal to the Almighty to guide American leaders "and grant them righteousness and wisdom." A little over a year later, Siraj Wahaj was addressing an audience of Muslims in New Jersey and articulated a completely different message from his mild and moderate prayer given before the U.S. House of Representatives. He said: "If only Muslims were more clever politically, they would take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a Caliphate [islamic leadership body]. He continued saying: "If we were united and strong, we would elect our own leader and give allegiance to him. Take my word, if the 6 to 8 million Muslims unite in America, the country will come to us." Is this loyal to America? Is this peaceful? Calling for the overthrow of the United States government is a sister faith to Christianity? Not hardly! Yet, at the politically correct University of North Carolina, freshmen are required to read the literature that drives Islamic fundamentalists to kill Christians and Jews to say nothing of destroying America.
  8. How can I turn my cheek when you won't shut up? Do you persecute all whom do not prescribe to the BSA? Do you fail your Eagle Applicants that do not agree with the ACLU? I want the cross on city seals, I want GOD in the Pledge, I want my kids to pray in schools, I want "In God We Trust" on our money, I want my Fire Dept. to put a Manger scene in front of the Station, I wanna see "God Bless America" painted on fire station windows. I am sick of the ACLU taking these things away from my community! I imagine "under your beliefs" I would be put in jail (or beheaded) for not tolerating the ACLU. I have Due process already under the law. I do not need the ACLU. (This message has been edited by Jason OK)
  9. http://www.scouting.org/nav/enter.jsp?s=mc&c=fs'>http://www.scouting.org/nav/enter.jsp?s=mc&c=fs The above link is what sparked my curiosity. SR540Beaver, To answer your question...I talk better than I type so bare with me...LOL as you have been. Churches want organizations like Boy Scouts active in the community..as do the Masons.....but the Masons (although they have a strong religious background) "I believe" was not organized to show people how to live in Christ. This is why many churches pick and choose what ministries they will financially support. (Best represents their teachings & goals) I look at Scouting the same way. If I (Pretend Pastor)elect to charter a Troop (Let them use the church facilities)And the members of my church see something that they do not approve of...well that can kill the church....church members that get unhappy and can stop tithing. (for example) "Someone was teaching reverence and they said it doesn't matter what religion you were...you just must be reverent to God." I can guarantee (in todays atmosphere) that could cause an uproar in any religious organization. Be it Christian, Jewish or Muslim, ect ect.. (Church = Synagogue, Mosque, ect) Thus, referring back to the BSA link. http://www.scouting.org/nav/enter.jsp?s=mc&c=fs (This message has been edited by Jason OK)
  10. Did you Forget about this? Matthew 21:12 12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. Mark 11:15-18 15 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves; 16 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple. 17 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all [1] nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves. 18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
  11. If I was not a Christian, I would feel strange using the Church as a charter. Keeping it civil. I am curious to know the adult leaders' thoughts. If anyone is angry over my comment...please PM me in order to keep this post civil. Respectfully, Jason OK
  12. SR540Beaver, He might have to. Every time I tell myself "That is the last time I post about that subject." I find I have to take all the knives out of my back. I have to get up off the ground. I have to stop letting them sucker punch me in the back of the head. It feels like I'm back on the play ground. The "Bully" & his "Toadies" won't back off. I never backed down then and I won't do it now.
  13. MMMM I guess it is not the word "Feminazi" that is in question. I believe the term "coined" tripped me up. I remember hearing the term Feminazi before I ever turned on Rush. I believe there was a low budget (B) movie in the 80's about them. (on motorcycles hahaha) Rush may have made the term "Feminazi" a House-hold term but I remember hearing it before listening to Rush. ScouterPaul, Thank you.
  14. Twocubdad, Get off my back. Do not insult my grammer or writing style either. Besides, I have been a busy boy posting. You are right, facts are facts. So why must you refuse confirmation....confirm them....and then tell me why you can not accept them. I also do not agree with Affirmative Action.
  15. created by communist....ok communist
  16. I went back to my old Troop. They were very excited to have me back. I was surprised the other adults were so great so fast. I am trying to come up with some ideas to make the troops' boy population rise and stabilize. I have some concerns (why less boys are joining scouts) I shared in issues and polititcs (BSA Dissent) I am afraid to get into them. I am not a very politically correct person.
  17. Islam is a real religion. And I respect its right to be so. As long as it does not harm me or my loved ones.
  18. Familar? if you are concerned about if I am someone else why don't you simply ask whoever monitors the website to check my personal info I gave when I joined. You mean only 2 people have the same or simular convictions I might? Most people do not waste their time throwing pearls to swine. Besides, you rather insult me than discuss the homework I did. I respected other peoples dislike to my post so I thought enough of them to do my home work. Oh well
  19. I am reposting this. Saddlepack, listen....your web link saying Christians are skin heads & nazis is wrong. ScouterPaul, As far as the abortion bombings....I can count those people on one hand. They will be judged before God for what they did. And I think what they did was wrong. But abortion has already killed millions of children. Anyone see the new 3D technology on the news last night? They can see the baby (12 weeks) yawning, making facial expressions..... Abortion is MURDER.
  20. If you are sponsored or chartered by a church maybe you should think about your belief system and reflect if that honors that organizations charity towards you. I have tried to defend my beliefs. You have compared me to people that kill. I have never wanted to harm anyone. This is why I chose to defend my religion by this comparison. Remember the only man that never sinned was Jesus. Go ahead and bash me for talking about my new found faith. Are you better because your faith is old? Or are you better because you think my faith is wrong. My argument is this. If you believe in Christ.....and you choose to pick out parts of the bible to make your life more livable......I understand I did that for almost 10 years. Depeche Mode wrote the song "Strange Love" And I used to chuckle when I heard (I give in to sin because I have to make this life livable) It doesn't mean that your right. Yes I have only been saved truly for the past year.....but it is not a new found faith. I just started to truly live my life for Christ. Just being reverent and going to church does not mean you're OK with God. I can respect those who choose differently. When Christians world wide start killing people on the offense I will change my mind. I am beginning to think the hate being shown against me is the same as the Democrats show towards Republicans. I have not done any Democrat bashing yet. And I rather Not. So if your misguided anger is directed at me because we are not a MOB RULE DEMOCRACY.....please reflect upon yourself. FACE IT PEOPLE. We are a Republic and democracy only truly exists on the very local level. YES Bush did win the election so deal with your anger in your vote not at other republicans. As far as Michael Savage goes.....are you telling me none of that has ever been on TV, in the news paper.....so on and so on. And concerning Feminazi....Rush never coined the phrase. You guys are bashing me because I present facts that can be verified in more than one news article? If you like I will be more than happy to research and verify everything I posted concerning the HOLY WAR Muslims are waging. I respect Muslims that choose not to kill. But when most of the Muslim population though out the world rather see us dead....well. Must I say more....because brother whether you worship Christ or NOT they do NOT care! You are as dead as I would be in their eyes. Aren't you glad we live in a nation were we can disagree like this? Where no one will behead us for this?
  21. Hunt, I agree. That is the more Scouting way.
  22. Don't be offended. . Not sure what you are reffering to. Femi Nazi? Is that what you are reffering to? Sorry to offend you.....your a Jew? I just made fun of NAZIs and you are offended? Seriously I am confused. Peace be with you brother.(This message has been edited by Jason OK)
  23. Who sponsers your troop? Church here.
  24. Ignorance is bliss for some. Just thought I would share a little homework I did. During World War 1 Baldwin worked in the Bureau of Conscientious Objectors, a division of AUAM, to help draft dodgers with resistance and provide legal and financial aid. This resulted in controversy and Baldwin renamed the organization The Civil Liberties Bureau to avoid some of the flack. Roger refused to tone down his liberal talk and the AUAM sought a split, which resulted in the bureau renaming again; The National Civil Liberties Bureau. Board Member John H. Holmes admitted that they were only using the civil liberties issue in supporting the cause of radicalism ACLU founder, Roger Nash Baldwin, had close ties with communist movements in the U.S. Two of the ACLU's first board members, William Z. Foster and Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, would go on to become prominent members of the Communist Party USA. In the 1920s, Baldwin developed a deep admiration for the recently founded USSR. His biographer, Robert C. Cottrell, writes that Baldwin, "like many other Western intellectuals, seemed to view the Soviet leaders as superprogressives of a sort." Founder Roger Baldwin said, Civil liberties, like democracy, are useful only as tools for social change. Although they claim to defend constitutional rights, they dont even believe in the document as written. They say that, The Constitution as originally conceived was deeply flawed. They even go so far as to brag, The ACLU was the missing ingredient that made our constitutional system finally work. For its first 60 years 80% of ACLU Board and Committee Members had Communist affiliations, and 90% of its cases were involved in defending Communists. Consider these cases and official positions: - 1952 Led the campaign against exposing the Communist element in the entertainment industry. - 1960 Fought to legally prohibit Christmas displays and celebrations at public schools. - 1962 Argued that a daily prayer recital was an illegal establishment of religion. - 1973 Doe v. Bolton case along with Roe v. Wade helped overturn anti-abortion laws. - 1982 Positioned itself against teaching of Creationism in favor of exclusive Evolution. - 1986 Argued against prayers before High School football games. - Argued in favor of allowing open gays in the military. They have also sought the following restrictions: - Halt the singing of Christmas Carols in public facilities. - Deny tax -exempt status for Churches. - Remove all military chaplains. - Remove all Christian symbols from public property. - Prohibit Bible reading in classrooms even during free time. - Remove In God We Trust from our coins. http://www.claremont.org/writings/040609palm_kran.html Communist Presidential Candidate William Z. Foster Arrested in L.A. (1932) Nineteen thirty-two was one of the worst years of the Depression, and William Z. Foster, 51, was running for the third and last time as the Communist Partys candidate for President of the United States. A native of Massachusetts, at the age of ten he was forced to leave his Philadelphia school in search of work. He traveled the country working in a variety of unskilled jobs and soon became a labor organizer. By 1924 he had become a member of the Communist Party and in that year ran on its ticket for president of the United States. He ran also in 1928 and once again in 1932. The party's platform envisioned the ultimate demise of capitalism and the establishment of a workers republic; but it also painted a hopeful picture of an America free of racial oppression, labor strife, hunger and poverty. In 1932 he visited Los Angeles on a campaign swing, and this is the way the Los Angeles Illustrated Daily News reported his reception. (This message has been edited by Jason OK)
