The stamp and ink are one piece.

What do you all think about signature stamps instead of signing each individual item by pen? I remember all of my awards, rank cards, and blue cards were stamped as a kid and I don't feel cheated. The CC and AC seem to think it is too impersonal.

They are worried you will be overomce by the fumes; exhaust fumes, perfumes, and the smell of money. Good luck.

Because is part of the Boy Scout program. By your logic Scouts could earn Ranger as Scouts, not Venturers.
-
There is no typical Venturing outing. It is what you make of it. My daughter is in two Crews, one likes to get together and plan ski trips, hostel stays, beach trips. The other likes to go camping, and high adventure type activities. Search your neighboring councils for activites. Some will run weekends aimed at Venturing.

Venturing YPT Adult Leadership Training for Troop
gsdad replied to Mike Krasko's topic in Venturing Program
Our crew(all girls) recently joined the Troop on a winter survival weekend. Most of the older boys in the Troop bailed and the girls ended up teaching the boys firemaking, shelter building, water purifying, etc... If done right it can work. For the record I have no son in the Troop. -
I guess this started from my comments in the other thread. I do not friend youths who are not related to me. I am a CM, involved with two Crews, and coach girls' softball. We have pages for the Pack, Crews, and team . I won't email or text the girls in the crews or team without copying their parents either. I will accept friend requests from their parents after I get to know them. The implication of impropriety is a damnig and damaging, because like it or not you are guilty until proven innocent.

Welcome, I was a Scout(Troop 109) in the old Philadephia Council, worked at TI and am now involved with a Crew in COL in addition to the Crew and Pack in Bucks.
-
I am in the woods, water, etc... with them. People seem to be more brazen, and lose their inhibitions online. You do what makes you happy, I for one don't think there is a reason a 40yo should be friends with a kid. Nor do I text or email my players, or crew members without copying their parents. An accusation or implication of impropriety is as damning as actual misconduct and I am not opening myself up to any.

Actualy I know most of them, and we regualrly check her Facebook. It was one of the terms we set letting her open an account. She doesn't friend anyone she doesn't know, and has come to me to show requests from 20-something male friends of friends. I am a CM, help with a Crew, and coach 16U girls softball. We have pages for the Crew, parents of the Pack, and team. I do not friend any of the kids, the only minors on my friend list are related to me. It can seem odd to you, I don't care. Most of your reactions to posts seem odd to me. That's why Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors.

I am more concerned with adults being friends with 12yo on Facebook.

I consider being a Boy Scout, and being in Boy Scouts the same way. It works in my mind.
-
Living up the words of the Scout Law and Scout Oath, and going through life with the moral compass expected of an Eagle Scout. I know more than one person who earned Eagle and are now incarcerated for violent crimes. Those men earned Eagle, but in my mind are not Eagle Scouts.
-
In my opinion, eaning the Eagle rank, and being and Eagle Scout are two different things.

It looks like the Lodge will keep the name and totem, but assume the #2 to accomodate the new members.
-
I am well versed in how a Lodge works, I was being facetious in my previous post.
-
But that is not the case. Two Councils aren't merging. One is dissolving and the Districts are being taken on by seperate neighboring Councils. There is no reason to change the name of anything.
-
I was in the same boat. I signed on to help my wife, the parents and kids loved it. The camp Rangers treated me like I was Richard Allen Davis. My daugter is now in a Crew and loves it.
-
The feedback from the Scouters I've spoken with has been nothing more than appreciative. None of them expect BCC to change the name. Some current BCC Scouters suggested changing it to Washington's Crossing Council, but that is typical since most of the Council seems to forget there are disctricts west of Rte 611. As you can probably tell I am a member of BCC. This is not a merger, it is simply opening(willingly) the doors for displaced Scouts and Scouters.
-
Because it makes no sense to have a council named for one Pennsylvania county when it now serves two NJ counties. It's insulting to their scouts and scouters: "you guys are hangers on and second class citizens compared to those of us actually living in Bucks County". It's not like the two councils are merging. BCC is taking on two new districts. Should they also change the name of the OA lodge to accomodate the new members? Did America change names when new states joined The Union? If the new additions to BCC are that thin skinned to be insulted by the name of their new council, they have bigger issues. Is it safe to assume you are one of the districts coming over to BCC?
-
Why?
-
Thanks, I sent the apps off today.
-
We warned her of it. The problem is her current crew is not active to the point of interfering with other activities.
-
But did they regsiter and charter in each council?
-
My daughter is looking to join a second crew as hers is going in a different direction. She doesn't want to leave completely without trying to help turn it around. She found another crew in neighboring council. Is it possible to register in more than one at a time?
