  1. nldscout, it's not a matter any of us take lightly, nor is this a rash decision. It is a stack of problems that have been ongoing over the past few years, and involve underhanded behavior on the CC's part. Last Autumn we opted to remove her from access to the Pack account for reasons I will not go into, but we thought it better to retain her as CC. The behavior and goings-on are very detrimental to the health of the Unit. Again, I don't want to go into details, but believe me when I say this is not a frivolous matter for any of us.
  2. That's where it's going to get sticky. I know she is not going to willingly step down.
  3. My Pack is in a huge quandry. the Committee has made an adamant and unamimous decision that we *need* to remove our Committee Chairperson. Providing we can proceed in that a committee member will step forward to fill her position, what is the procedure in putting in a new CC in a Pack? I know the Chartered Organization is involved with this somehow. We are holding an informal meeting tonight to discuss the matter with our UC. Can anyone enlighten me about the steps we need to take? Unfortunately, our UC doesn't know any more about the procedure than we do. Any advice is very welcome. Thanks!!!
  4. Pardon me for resurrecting an old thread, but I am heavily involved in the Iraqi Scouting Movement and I thought I could offer up some information on matters of American units getting involved. I am the Puget Sound Regional Coordinator for the Iraqi Scouting Initiave, and I work with Mr. Bradle in efforts of support and fund-raising. The Iraqi Scouting Movement is growing quite rapidly. There are currently over 1200 youth registered and active in Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, and every provence in Iraq is now seeing Scouting activity. Over 100 Iraqi volunteers, men and women, have been trained at the Arab Scout Org HQ in Cairo Egypt. 3 of the 4 original Scout camps in Iraq are now back up and running. Iraq is working hard toward being reinstated in the WSO. The Iraqi International Foundation (Mike Bradle's nonprofit org) offers a commemorative Iraqi Scouts patch which American units nationwide are selling to help Iraqi Scouts. All of the proceeds from this patch go to Iraq to help them rebuild their program. I know of 6 completed Eagle projects across the US where the candidates worked through the IIF for fund-raising and gathering gear and supplies. My own Pack did a fair amount of fund-raising a couple of months ago. Our funds are now on their way to Balad to help start new units. Mr. Bradle has also informed me that he is investigating the possibility of American units sponsoring Iraqi units. I have heard that T-777 in Baghdad is sponsored by Rolling Thunder, so non-Scouting organizational sponsorship is already occuring. I can provide more info as I receive it, for any who are interested.(This message has been edited by featherbear)
  5. Part way through last year's school-year, I went in for PTC with my 4th-grader's teacher. After a bit of chit-chat, I let her know he's in Scouting. She grinned and said, "I can always tell which boys in my class are Scouts. They are better behaved, and just seem more advanced." That, coming from one whose career is working with kids, meant a lot. I may be pretty new, but I absolutely believe we make a difference.
  6. Hello, all! I've come out of the occasional lurkdom and finally got a username. I'm with a Pack near Tacoma, and have been a Den Leader for 4 years now. I'm currently the Webelos II leader, after running a den of 15, Weebs I and II, last year. My Den's down to 10 now, and we are hugely active. My Den, as a matter of fact, has a gang of very active parents who carry this Pack in activities and fund-raising, and for that I am blessed. Once at Webelos, they became more active than ever. My dilemma is in trying to get the rest of the Pack somewhere near as active, and I am having a bit of a fight with that, mainly in leadership. I'm currently working my ticket (if I can) after attending Chief Seattle's Wood Badge, and I'm finding out the level of work I've gotten myself into! That's ok, 1 down, 4 to go. :-) I'm looking forward to learning from you all!
