Need Help NOW!!! for Eagle BOR tommorow
Fat Old Guy replied to FloridaScout's topic in Open Discussion - Program
I expect Scouts to show up for a BOR in as complete a uniform as possible. That includes a merit badge sash. Take pride in your achievements. BTW, iron your uniform. If your mom doesn't know how to iron (my wife couldn't iron a handkerchief), do it yourself or spend a buck and have a professional laundry do your shirt (most are "In by 9 - back by 5") -
" Please tell me that this is replicable in the lab (in less time)." Tell you what. . . you can volunteer to eat the brain of an infected cow and report on what happens.
-
I'm really confused by this whole. If there are mad cows running around, why doesn't the government simply get an animal psychologist to interview these angry cows, find out what's bothering them and help them work out their problems?

", the left and their love of nanny government, or the conservative right and their peachment for facisism" Dunno, the left and their nanny goverment has more indicators of fascism than the right ever does. The left want the government to control everything and they want a police state to keep them safe which are hallmarks of fascism.

Well New Jersey Dude, liberals are condensing condensating condensending. Remember Algore and his eye rolling? Liberals are convinced that they are the repository of all wisdom in the free world. Liberals know that they know what is best for you and that you don't have a clue because you aren't as smart as they are. Ever watch one of those late night talk shows with a liberal and a conservative "discussing" an issue? The liberal usually resorts to insults and then won't shut his pie hole to let the conservative make his statements heard. What we'll do is put it in a lockbox. :-)

"Show" for first aid -- ideas please
Fat Old Guy replied to Laurie's topic in Open Discussion - Program
" Now, I look at the printed word "show" and figure that's pretty clear." I used to think show meant "Demonstrate" but not too long ago I was told that isn't true in a Scouting context. Go figure. -
Manson isn't evil, he just made some bad choices. The DC Snipers are bad guys, just confused. The thug who stole the car in Baltimore and dragged the driver to death because she was snagged on the car was just trying to make a living. Geeze Big Dog, get with the program.

The Beatles? Appropriate for Scouting?

"coming from someone who supports a BSA policy that excludes certain people on the basis that they are poor role models." IF the truth be told, I'm not worried about those "people" for their role model status, I just don't trust them with boys. -
Honor Camping Societies...

"Guam is part of Aloha Council in Honolulu, Hawaii." That really makes it difficult to pop over to the Council office to pick up some forms, doesn't it? -
" A man who thinks his life will improve if he earns $2000 from robbing a liquor store is not in any sense evil or a bad guy." Still laughing. A conservative is a liberal who's been mugged. Excuse me, I'm headed to the FOP lodge to let them read your "wisdom."

"Unless you know someone personally, it would be unwise and naive to accept everything posted at face value." Very good point. For all we know, your name is really Jack Daw.

Religious Emblem Presentations
Fat Old Guy replied to Twocubdad's topic in Open Discussion - Program
FWIW, I think that the medal should be presented in the boy's church by his minister because that's the awarding organization. Back in the day, we always had the medal presented at the church by the minister, usually on Scout Sunday. The minister would talk a bit about the hard work that the Scout put in, etc. We'd then present the square knot at the next pack meeting and give a plug the religious emblems program. -
" this will be my last post on this thread." Are you sure that you aren't Bob White? :-)

" I don't beleive there is such a thing as 'bad guys'. Rather there are people who are misguided in the choices they make." Hooooo! Haaaa! He, he, har, he! Ha, ha, ha, Ho, ha, hooooo, arf, snorf, heh, heh, haaaaaa. Thanks, I haven't had such a good laugh in a couple weeks

"You cannot pass it off by saying every Arab who hates the USA is just crazy and we can ignore them." The world hates America because we have everything that they don't have. Mostly freedom and money and the freedom to spend our money on really stupid things like Playstations. The world and liberals put Americans in an uncomfortable situation. If an American goes to another coutry, he is chastised because he doesn't speak the language and doesn't learn the local customs. However, when foreigners come to this country, liberals (gotta love 'em) expect us to make allowances for the foreigners because they have their own ways. The world doesn't hate Canada because there aren't enough of you.

The Beatles? Appropriate for Scouting?
Fat Old Guy replied to Fat Old Guy's topic in Issues & Politics
" And, regardless of why he said what he said, FOG's comment was relevant to his self-contradictory comment here." As I said before, no one ever threw millions of dollars at me to support the degenerate lifestyle of my youth. Popular public figures are, by default, role models for the youth that spend their parents money on albums, concert tickets and the like. They wanted to be "cool" like Paul and John so they wore strange clothing and smoked dope. Today, kids want to be like Tommy Lee or Snoop Dog and try to emulate them. -
"So you are calling him a liar? That's Scout-like!" Ed, you should know by now that Bob White expects others to live by the Scout Law but sees no need for him to do so.

The Beatles? Appropriate for Scouting?
Fat Old Guy replied to Fat Old Guy's topic in Issues & Politics
Stapler Dude, you seem to think that it is foolish to not help Speilberg make billions because I disagree with his politics. Let's look at a home town example. You want to do some home improvements and ask around. Many people like the work done by Bob Goodtool so you call him up and ask him to come out to your house. When he arrives, he's driving a truck with a Nazi swastika on the side and he has "The only good Jew is a dead Jew" tatooed on his bald head. However, he really knows his stuff and quotes a fantastic price. Would you hire him? -
"I suprised no one has accused comandopro of being yaworski or Fat Old Guy!" If commandopro disagress with someone who will remain nameless then the accusations will fly.

Am I missing some cleverness in the name "Studio 2B"? Is there meaning behind the name?(This message has been edited by Fat Old Guy)

The Beatles? Appropriate for Scouting?
Fat Old Guy replied to Fat Old Guy's topic in Issues & Politics
" It didn't really have anything to do with the subject of the thread and was a lot more than I wanted to know about FOG's personal life, but I did not expect the same person to come back 2 or 3 weeks later criticizing anyone about "casual sex."" So far, no one has thrown millions of dollars my way to help support my degenerate lifestyle. -
"If you can honestly think that more guns make a safer environment" I suppose that it depends on who has the guns. If the good guys have them, the world becomes safer as has been shown in Florida. When the bad guys have them, the world becomes less safe as was shown in Nazi Germany, the Phillipenes, and now England and Australia. "If I live somewhere where I consider my wife to be in danger of being raped then I will move." That's the entire planet.

"As much as I hate Michael Moore, I have to agree with his claim that America is a very fear-driven place." The press and goverment have their own agendas and part of that is to fan the flames of panic. More panic means more power. Wasn't it Franklin who said, "Those who will trade freedom for security deserve neither"? The Soviet Union was very secure but how much freedom did they have? It looks like we might be headed that way. National ID cards. Random checkpoints. Cameras watching our every move. Police browsing our email.

Dave, about 15 years ago my wife spent about $5,000 keeping her dog alive and all it bought her was another couple months of lying on the floor. If I'm lying in a hospital bed, wheezing with tubes coming out of me and the best hope is to keep me alive and doped for a couple more months, let me go.
