  1. Yeah GW the CC might have the final say before the COR or IH, but Beavah is correct the entire committee's role in the selection of leaders. The CC has the approval authority on the unit committee. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  2. 5. Scouts who are habitually absent or cannot bother to communicate don't pass the next scoutmaster conferenceor. A Scoutmaster Conference is not a pass/fail requirement, it is a "participate in" requirement. While I understand where you are coming from & agree with pretty much everything else you posted, highcountry, you are adding to the requirements with this, and that is verboten! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  3. God not god. Big difference.
  4. Beavah, You've given it your best shot but Bob isn't budging! He thinks he has answered your questions but as usual, he's two-stepped them & lastly started combining them to claim non-applicability! You are fighting a losing battle, my friend. The best you can do is claim a moral victory & wait for the next foray! Heaven knows there will be one! And for the record, I concur with you on these points, Beavah. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  5. Hey hey hey! I resemble all those remarks! I am enjoying watching Bob dance all around Beavah's questions & yelling foul! He should go on Dancing With the Stars! He would win the Two Step! It seems Beavah wants some answers to direct questions & as usual, Bob refuses by claiming some questions are too personal or by accusing Beavah of going off topic! What Bob fails to realize he does the exact same thing he accuses Beavah of doing! But I would bet he doesn't see it that way. Would someone repost this so Bob will see it since he has me on ignore. Thanks
  6. False premise can only lead to false conclusions. Well duh! One should practice what one preaches!
  7. Chocolate chip cookies are not Are these people commies? There is nothing wrong with chocolate chip cookies! Heck, I'd rather my kid at a chocolate chip cookies than a preservative laden fruit roll up!
  8. Want to buy a home? Yes you can still get a mortgage but the terms of credit are much stiffer and people who would otherwise be good bets in normal times will be denied loans because credit it scarce right now and banks are over-reacting. If the driving force behind mortgage lending had been the credit worthiness of the borrower instead of the value and/or equity in the home, we would not be in this predicament! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  9. so the message we are sending to our sons is that if your dad oggles chicks in cut off scout uniforms its GOOD, but if your mom wears a scout shirt with too many buttons open its wrong. the more I am on these boards the more I worry that scouting is about the "appearance" of good, vs actually doing good. Who's oggling anything? Some people look for the bad in everything. Nice job Adam!
  10. It is stated "6 months since completing the fourth grade (or becoming 10)" Seems pretty simple to me! Gotta agree about the Troop Advancement Chair. They have no say in what a Cub Pack does.
  11. I knew you were a problem Beav you fear mongerer!
  12. "If the system has no way to differentiate this information, why include it on the form?" To increase posts on scouter forums. ;-) That & to make you a little nuts~
  13. This seems like a no-brainer to me. My family comes 1st. And since it would seem in this example, dads death was sudden & unexpected. Dads funeral takes precedence over anything & I would go as far as stating not being at dads funeral and going on the Scout outing would be unethical and a poor example to all! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  14. Perhaps the problem is that some charter organizations are choosing adults who get angry over trivial things adults. So the council has lost his records 5 times. Lets say he has to go out of his way for 15 minutes to correct them. The fellow has had to take an extra hour and fiteen minutes during the last EIGHT YEARS to keep his training record straight. Explain to us why this is worth him getting bent out of shape over? Time has nothing to do with it! Neither does the CO. This is all about competency! If the council can't even keep something this simple straight, what are the chances they are losing other records, too? I'd say pretty good! But then again, it is always the fault of the volunteers! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  15. Considering how well they know history is it possible Bob White is Joe Biden?
  16. That Chicken in White Tights patch can be worn as a temporary patch on the right pocket! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 NE-V-120 "I'm a talon you, we're the Eagles!"
  17. Civil disobedience is breaking the law! Our forefathers broke the law! Moses did, too! Even Rosa Parks did! For some, history is what you want to remember it was. For most, it is the facts of time gone by.(This message has been edited by evmori)
  18. I see you enjoy situational ethics Beavah. You see a law or rule only applicable when it suits you. You evidently believe that the community left it to you to judge the importance of a rule and as to whether or not it applies to you or others. I would have thought that if a law in the community was only for others that the rule makers would have simply written into it that it applies to everyone...except Beavah. Did I miss something? Where did Beavah, in this thread, state anything that would lend to this opinion post by Bob White?
  19. Part of the problem might be email. Kids do have e-mail addresses but they never check their e-mail! Kids today communicate via text messages!
  20. Now a trick question - may the general public go into a scout shop and purchase a BSA uniform without showing proof of membership? What about a pair of scout socks? As far as I know, yes they can. In all the years I went into my Scout shop to buy stuff, not once did I see anyone ever ask for any type of ID.
  21. Rule of thumb is too vague. A rule of thumb for one person may be completely opposite for another. There are rules in just about everything we do. How we choose what rules to follow, not follow or bend is defined by our ethics & morals. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  22. raisinemright, You can cross state lines if you want to. There are no restrictions that a MB counselor must be in your district.
  23. Rules are open to interpretation, but a Scout sitting on another Scout's BOR, while not a bad idea, is a direct violation of the rules.
  24. I would agree there is little debate going on! The only question is if a unit is offered an unsolicited donation, can they accept it! Bob said no. Then he said yes! I'm confused!
  25. If the business wants to offer you a discount let it be unsoicited from you. Taking funds without exchanging it for a product or service is a violation of the BSA money earning policies for units. Which is it?
