I would bet the reason councils limit the number of badges a counselor can register is not for control but rather management of records. We have read how councils seem to be lax in this area & can you imaging the mess if MB counselors were allowed to register for as many badges as they wanted?

If every person who had a loan or mortgage with a financial institution made their monthly payment on the 11th day after their due date, the financial institution would be swimming in cash & the person's credit rating would not suffer.

packsaddle, Right on the money about paying off credit cards monthly! You pay no interest. Re figuring the minimum payment on credit cards is not the answer. If you make only the minimum payment on a credit regardless of the rate, you will be paying on it for a long time & if the balance is high enough, you will never pay it off. And paying off one credit card with another credit card only prolongs the agony. If you have an installment loan, the way to pay less over the life of the loan is to make a principal only payment monthly equal to 1/6th of your monthly payment. If it's a mortgage, it's 1/6th of the P&I monthly payment. This will reduce your the principal amount of your loan & that is what the interest is figured on. You will pay your loan/mortgage off early & not pay as much interest. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

It's just that you have to be sure that he has one of each after all the other requirements for a rank are done before he can advance. I agree the BOR should be the last thing done for rank but nowhere is it stated a SM Conference must also be done after all the other rank requirements are completed. I have played this game with an airplane crash scenario, and forest fire scenario, a lost on the amazon scenario, and every time the team dynamics were a little different. The only difference is these three disaster scenarios is how to survive and/or care for those who didn't. Not much variation. Still questioning the usefulness of games like these.

Our perverted tax system encourages us to borrow against our homes by giving a deduction on mortgage interest. Elimination of this perversion would have the effect of lowering housing prices and encouraging people to pay off their homes. The way things are now the government encourages home owners to leverage their home equity. How sick is that. I agree our tax system is perverted, but your premise is unfounded. Did the elimination of being able to deduct interest other than mortgage interest reduce people's debt? Nope! By allowing people to deduct mortgage interest actually allows people to buy homes & to leverage the equity they have built up in their home. It is up to them to use it or not. What do ya give up 1st? Why do you have to give anything up. Instead of driving the vehicle you have, get one you can afford. Keeping up with the Jones is what gets people in trouble financially! People with massive credit card debt are hurting only themselves!

One other thing to consider....I often make the phone calls for my son because he has a speech impediment and is often hard to understand on the phone, especially if the person does not know him. My son can be understood face to face (usually) but the phone is not his friend. Please consider that when condemning overproctive or interferring parents. sheldonsmom, Why not contact the counselor & let the counselor know your son will be calling to ask the counselor to be his MB counselor & explain he has a speech impediment. Very skewed interpretation of just about everything! Change is in order. I would start with the merit badge part & work up from there. Those who have completed these outlandish requirements won't have to any longer & those just starting will complete what is required for rank by the BSA. What a mess!

Yup it's semantics. I would agree that it should be one COR per chartering organization. I think Beavah would agree. I think what Beavah is saying is there are chartered organizations that have more than one unit they have different COR's whether they can or not. Is that correct Beavah?
