Good point GW. The ride is the product! The application isn't restrictive as to the type of product. Hope this goes well!

I believe I understand the reason that Webelos are no longer allowed to overnight with troops at camporees. Primarily because this required a parent of each boy to overnight as well. I don't know if this is the reason but I do know not allowing Webelos to camp with Troops overnight at camporees has not helped retain Webelos crossing over to Boy Scouts.

Sorry if we didn't tell you what you wanted to hear cheffy. We told you what we thought the best course of action would be. Like BW posted, litigation isn't a leadership skill! Lawsuits for small amounts like this are what ties up our courts! Get the screen somewhere & never use or recommend this gentleman to anyone in the future! Sometimes there is nothing you can do about a**holes! And since, at least from what I read, there is no signed contract, you could likely lose a lawsuit! And what does suing this guy teach your son? Does it teach him a way to find an answer to the problem? No. It teaches him to sue someone instead of finding a practical solution 1st. If there is not practical solution, then maybe legal recourse is a solution. Again, sorry we didn't tell you what you wanted to hear!

Could be a good fundraiser! Let us know how it goes!

How many times are you going to post the same thread? There are three threads with the same title posted by you!

Yup BW is on the right track! Some other possible sources would be the local high school metal shop teacher or the metalwork MB counselors in your area.

Out of curiousity why not have the Scouts run the stations? It gives the adults something to do plus the Scouts get to participate in all the activities!
-
Can this counselor sign the blue card or does a currently registered counselor have to sign off the one requirement? The simple answer is no. Your son, with the help of his SM, will have to find a new counselor. As long as your son has all his paperwork for the badge, the new counselor might accept it but doesn't have to! When my unit ran camporees, the SPL & the ASPL were the ones in charge. I recruited the adults to run the stations but the Scouts in my unit are the ones who planned each station.

I would agree with shortridge. More info is needed.

The NEED for skills? Just because precooked meals cane be bought, doesn't mean they have to be. I've eaten my share of "Moo" burgers & I can tell you when the boys do that once, it doesn't happen again! Cell phones & GPS? Don't own a GPS & never plan to buy one! How hard is it to read a map? Your SM won't always be around to protect you from poison ivy! Bad excuse! The tarps my unit had came with 6 aluminum poles per tarp (not including the center ridge pole) and a bag of rope! We always made cutting fire wood a fun chore, not a task! Sometimes you NEED to create the NEED!

I would expect a 1st Class Scout to be ready to assume a leadership position in the unit. I would also expect a 1st Class Scout to be able to teach the younger Scouts in the unit what he has learned. I would also expect a 1st Class Scout to be an example the younger Scouts could look up to and a Scout the SPL could count on.

Dog doodie! Dog doodie! Dog doodie! Dog doodie! Dog doodie!

Who let the dogs out! Who Who! Who let the dogs out!

Yeah Lisa! I fear parents today are raising their kids to feel entitled to everything they want without actually having to earn it! Sad and scary!
-
I like you ideas Eamonn! I have always thought we over-program. Camporees are fun but they aren't a necessity. And if attendance is dwindling, maybe it is time to rethink how they are done!
-
I'll bet if you ask this Scout what he thinks of Bush you would get "I dunno" as an answer!
-
Unusual? I'm not speaking for GW but if that bothers you, I say grow a set! Both my kids are deaf. I call them deaf! Some people think that's too harsh! They should be called hard of hearing! Why? Their feelings might get hurt! So? They are deaf! Does that make them unusual?

When the Scouts get out of hand again, just stand there with you sign up until they quiet down. Do that every time it starts to get rowdy. As to the siblings being unruly, I would address the entire pack at the beginning of the next pack meeting. I would tell the parents that this isn't a playground & they should take charge of their kids. If they can't control them, leave them home! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

shortridge, If you read struax's post on 9/11/2008 you will see the same document contradicts it self. Laser tag was at one time banned. Now it seems as if the BSA can't make up it's mind.

Hey!! You are full of doodie OGE! Just kidding! We can type doodie! Or leave doodie!
-
Why does he have to read the MB pamphlet? I'm a counselor for 10 MB's & I have never required any Scout I have been counseling to read the MB pamphlet! I have always told them it is a great resource if they need one. You can't just change the requirements because of a disability. All requirement changes must be approved. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

That's it! Would the moderators please remind everyone of the subject of the topic and demand people stay on topic! Man! You think, well, I'm not going there! ;)
