  1. Welcome back Frank! Glad you are OK!
  2. "Great big globs of........... Greasy grimy gopher guts Mutilated monkey meat Little birdys dirty feet Now that is extra creepy!" Actually that sounds like lunch. You need to find a new place to eat!
  3. Just like common criminals! Stupid!
  4. Great big globs of........... Greasy grimy gopher guts Mutilated monkey meat Little birdys dirty feet Now that is extra creepy!
  5. Hey I always say Vote early! Vote often!
  6. Nope never had my own business. Oh and sorry for getting your handle wrong nolesrule. To me, it's the same as the cola thing. Scout/scouts is a common word. And it seems the BSA is a little paranoid about any youth group scout/scouts in their name. Now, there is an organization named Business Service Associates that also uses BSA. Wonder why the Boy Scouts of America hasn't gone after Business Service Associates? Sounds like selective suing to me!
  7. Yeah I know that noserule but actually going after any youth organization using the word scout is seems absurd & that is the waste of money I am talking about! Talk about an insecurity complex!(This message has been edited by evmori)
  8. Guess the committee member hasn't been to training! This is exactly the committee's job! It sounds to me like they want to pass it off on the Scoutmaster to be the heavy! If I was the Scoutmaster & they wanted to do this to me I would demand freedom in how I handled the situation, demanded the committee's 100% backing & I would be the one to handle ALL Scout discipline in the future with the 100% backing of the committee! If they don't agree to this then it is all theirs! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  9. I think we should limit leaders to one type of person! The type of person who wants to work with kids, meets the BSA requirements & is willing to take the necessary training to help understand the program they signed up for! All others can go away! I'm one of the creepy ones! But y'all knew that! My son earned his Eagle & aged out in 1999 & I'm still hanging on! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  10. This whole thing seems like a big waste of money & resources to me. If the BSA is worried about Youthscouts or Spiral Scouts competing with them, why not put the money & effort into improving the BSA program & leave these two others in the dust! Seems to me that would be a better use of the BSA resources. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  11. Well, they do need to earn 12 required to earn Eagle but they don't have to be while the Scout is a certain rank, just before they earn Eagle.
  12. Minor thread hijack - Borland had all kinds of financial troubles but made it through! They aren't as prevalent as they once were. Hijack done! How does the Girl Scouts get away with using the word Scouts? They are a youth organization!
  13. Count me as one of the "ain't broke so don't fix it" crowd. Yeah numbers were down and have made a modest up turn. Was the drop something to get our knickers all in a twist over? Nope! Now there was a faction who was preaching gloom & doom since the numbers were down! Remember the one poster who thought catchy slogans & cool threads was the answer? If the BSA stays the course and updates what needs updating, they will be around in the same form for another 100 years! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  14. It sounds like the problem starts at the District Training Committee. I say this because it seems from your post the people who actually did the training were not qualified to do the training.
  15. A girls relationship with her father is one of the most important things in their lives.
  16. The problem with that is that it shifts the printing costs to the Scout or the unit and also increases waste So? The unit or Scout would only have to print what is necessary. Instead of going to the troop library to get a fairly durable book, the Scout prints out his own copy. "Pass it on. . ." you say but by the time the Scout is done with 20 pages stapled together with no cover, it will be tattered and the next Scout will print his own copy. I like books with covers. These MB pamphlets are far from durable. And it doesn't need to be printed. It can be viewed on-line! I like vinyl records but the digital versions are much better! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  17. Geez! What a bunch of PCers! Get some stones people!
  18. Stealing! Not exactly living the Scout Law & Oath in his everyday life! Eamonn is correct. This is an issue for the Troop committee to deal with. As the Scoutmaster, I would recommend the Scout be suspended from the unit for 60 days & then upon his return he and his parents have a sit down with the committee & the Scoutmaster. This should not be tolerated. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  19. It would seem that no parent in that troop owns a calculator. Snide remark, Bob. But you might think of it as a rhetorical question but it was a shot! And uncalled for.
  20. Good luck in your future endeavors Pappy! Stop back & let us know how it's going! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  21. We started each year with a $50 recharter fee & $2/month dues.
  22. The ride is entertainment which is the product! This ain't rocket science! This might not get approved but like others said, it isn't any different than a haunted house or a hay ride where the product is entertainment! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
