  1. Here, some people are trying to say that the bible is clear on something; if it was clear, why is there disagreement on what it means? How does that possibly show that the meaning is clear? Produce the contradictions or recant!
  2. Prayers until then mdsummer45. Don't let them put this off any longer. And why is the SM invited?
  3. I'll just take that as you can't quote anything that is contradictory so the point you are trying to make doesn't exist, Merlyn. I'm not the one who made the claim packsaddle, so nothing is incumbent on me. Show me the contradictions!
  4. The Scoutmaster Conference prior to him seeing a board of review requires the SM to certify the Scout demonstrated Scout spirit. No it doesn't. SM Conference & Scout Spirit are two separate requirements. A Scout can complete a SM Conference & have it signed off & not have Scout Spirit signed off or Scout Spirit could already be signed off prior to the SM Conference.
  5. Ed, you still don't understand what I'm saying. I'm merely pointing out that Christians don't agree on what the bible says about homosexuality, therefore the bible is not clear. I'm not referring to ANY specific bible passage, I'm looking at real life results. Merlyn, I understand exactly what you are saying. You claim the Bible in not clear based on others interpretations of the Bible yet don't have any specific passages that state such. If the Bible is unclear on homosexuality, there has to be conflicting passages, otherwise stating the Bible is unclear on homosexuality is a bogus statement.
  6. Ed, re-read what you are asking Merlyn for. You want him to prove a negative. You can't do that. If he thinks the Bible isn't clear on the issue, there will be no supporting verse to prove his point. He could produce any random verse that would demonstrate his claim. I not asking anyone to prove a negative, Gern. Merlyn stated the bible is not clear on the issue. All I want to know is where in the Bible it isn't clear. Where are the contradictions?
  7. If adults can't find the time then maybe they aren't the adults we need in the program.
  8. No Merlyn, that's not gonna work! You posted the bible is not clear on the issue. Where? Chapter & verse, please, and not the line about denominations not agreeing.
  9. OK Trevorum, I'll agree marriage is a right. But by not allowing same sex marriage is that denying a right? Brothers & sisters are not allowed to marry. Are they also denied the same right? Yeah Merlyn, the Bible is clear on the issue. Wanna quote chapter & verse where it isn't?(This message has been edited by evmori)
  10. Actually, OGE, I was going to use the word toilet instead of latrine but I thought the Scouty language would be better understood!
  11. Entitled is a word that should be removed from the English language. Awards are earned, not given. Just participating in something doesn't mean you get something for participating. You get what you earn. And if you don't earn anything, well, you don't get anything. You are entitled to nothing! It must be earned! Frank, The hang up on active is the way National will rule on appeals. If I as an SM don't feel Johnny Life Scout has shown Scout Spirit because he was constantly flushing the new Scouts socks down the latrine at every camping trip, I'm not going to sign it off on it until Johnny Life Scout shows Scout Spirit. He can appeal & he will probably win because all the other requirements have been checked off!
  12. Yeah Trevorum I guess that is what I am asking. Is it a right or a privledge?
  13. Gay marriage is an equal rights issue?? Is marriage a right? I'm don't think it is.
  14. Ice cream???? Make mine fudge ripple. May I please have chopped nuts, sprinkles, & whipped cream on top? Thank you!
  15. I'm with Lisa on this. There is nothing stating any religious services must be held. Inter-faith services can be limited to just Christian providing there is another service available for non-Christians. I've been to many camporees where there was a Catholic, non denominational & Jewish services available. What kind you have, if any, depends on who is available to run the service.
  16. Well if Scout 1 said FU then pushed Scout 2 to the floor of the bus I would bet Scout 2 said something or gestured something that provoked Scout 1. Regardless, this is not a Scouting issue!
  17. A Scouter who doesn't like pie isn't a true Scouter!
  18. I think the "pound of flesh" comments was right on the money! This incident happened outside of Scouting! If this happens during a Scouting event or meeting, then the unit should deal with it! Otherwise, it is just information to be remembered. Mom & dad should take their concerns up with the school since it happened on a school bus@
  19. I thought pie would help! Guess not! Guess trolls don't like pie!
  20. BSA very specifically states in it's YP that punishment is the arena of the parents. This is especially true when the incident was outside of Scouting. Outside of Scouting, BSA YP holds no water.
  21. If this didn't happen at a Scouting event or in transit to a Scouting event, do nothing except make a mental note of the incident. And as Schiff posted, did Scout 1 do something to provoke Scout 2 to throw him & cause the injury? And is Scout 1 significantly larger & stronger than Scout 2 to actually "throw" him?
  22. Wonder how many boys will not be embarrassed by wearing the new uniform in public? Wanna bet none?
