Shoving people & drinking? At Scout meetings & outings? If so, let your Charter Rep know & advise them you would like this person removed from the charter. There is no place in Scouting for people like this.

Final Verdict: You can try to get the kid to stop out of respect for the others around him. But that is all. No punishment. Just ask him to stop AT THE CURRENT TIME. Why no punishment? This kid has violated the Scout Law & the legal law. Tell him you don't care what he does when he is not on a campout. Don't punish him at all. Just ask him to stop for the respect of others present. Do not mutilate his belongings, do not tell his parents. Do not demand his parents drive 1000 miles round trip. If he is in possession of a pornographic publication, it should be mutilated. It serves no purpose on a camp out. His parents will be told & there is a possibility they might have to come get him. This will lead to the scout losing his trust of you. Then, if there really IS a problem, he will not talk about it. You've got to be kidding! Are you making this stuff up? Do not try to alienate him, either. That will backfire against you, the scoutmaster. The other boys will rally on his side, as they also believe it is not a big deal. No one has advocated alienating anyone! xlpanel, Are you actually a Scout leader or just a troll? I hope a troll.

HIPAA only applies to doctors, hospitals, ER's, etc. Not Scout units. Collect all the old forms & either return them to the parents or shred them.

I like the Citizenship combo. I don't like the idea of AOL = Tenderfoot. Like Eagle92 posted, some Packs give away AOL's. There is a natural progression to T-2-1 and eliminating the 1st step only makes the 2nds step a a lot bigger. And chance that 1st step was ever taken at the Webelos level is doubtful.

I was just pointing out why such an error would matter - because it calls other information into question. Again, I disagree. If the Scout got the wrong advice the only thing the Scout should have done was verify the advise he got! I'm a glass half full but.
-
I think you are making a big leap shortridge. I wouldn't question the trustworthiness of a Scout if he gave out incorrect tax deduction information. I would advise him to make sure the info was correct the next time & if I knew of a contact that could help him I would give it to him.
-
She sounds like one of those helicopter parents! I'd bet if you get him away from mom, he would be fine!
-
shortridge, Assuming a Scout between the ages of 12 and 18 know anything about tax laws is absurd! Heck, most adults don't understand them! If the only reason someone is going to donate money is because it's a tax deduction is donating for the wrong reason.
-
There are age requirements, too. This isn't restricted to school grade. It is a grade or an age. Your trainer is incorrect.
-
Who cares? If it isn't tax deductible, is this individual not doing to donate?

I'm with Gern. Coming up with a catchy acronym for a teaching method that has been around since the inception of Scouting and claiming it as the new way is bunk. That old time Scoutmaster has been using EDGE for a long time!
-
I would go over the requirements that are signed off with the Scout to see if he really knows them. He might! I would do this under with the explanation that as the I am responsible for the advancement process and since I didn't assign this task to any one else, I would like to review these requirements. Wanna bet he fesses up?
-
Oh goodie! More fancy acronyms for something we've been doing for decades!

"This to my mind is all just adults tryin' to twist things around and play word games. " And you're the master at that tactic, eh Beavah? I would expect more from a site moderator than a cheap shot like that FScouter. Bd form.

The list is compared to the charter to make sure everyone is registered. Use to be when you registered a Scout or a leader you got a card in the mail for those who you registered.
-
Ed, you need to think about these things more carefully sometimes. Sometime we over think things, pack!
-
Working fine from where I sit.
-
I don't have a problem with the request but I do understand Gern's frustration. The DE has access to the unit's roster & that is what should be checked. There is no reason to have each unit submit a roster that they already have! And if there is, the problem isn't with the unit, it is with the council.!

Inquisition? No one expects the inquisition! Are there BOR's held at the local police precinct? It sounds like there are a lot of registered leaders. Enough, probably, to hold 2-3 BOR's on meeting nights either during the meeting or right after the meeting. These BOR's for rank should only last 10-15 minutes!

That's not my definition, Dean. That belongs to Mr. Webster. The G2SS should be changed to read weapon. Tater cannons are more fun!(This message has been edited by evmori)
-
Pointing any type of firearm or SIMULATED FIREARM at any individual is unauthorized. A supersoaker or a squirt gun is not a firearm or simulated firearm by definition. If the G2SS stated simulated weapon, then they would be. Common sense people!(This message has been edited by evmori)

Lisa, A literacy test for voter is not a bad idea. The only downside I see is there would be less people voting because they don't want to take a test just to vote! My point about this data being old is this type of information only seems to surface around election time. We just elected a new President. You never see this data in an off election year. I question the purpose & relevancy.
-
These stats have been bantered around for decades! I'm not even sure if the data is correct or if these are just used to get a rise out of folks!

Are these new crossover parents registered MB counselors? They need to understand that Boy Scouts is very different from Cub Scouts. The SM is in charge of advancement & the parents are not permitted to sign their son's books unless they have the permission of the SM. And if they aren't registered MB counselors, they are not permitted to sign off the requirements for any MB.

I wouldn't like kids under 13 to look at porn, but I wouldn't punish them or make their parents drive 500 miles to pick them up. I would ask the younger kids to please do it on their own time. I wouldn't tell their parents. I wouldn't take it from them. Just ask them to use discretion so those who didn't want to see it wouldn't. Kids older than 14 I wouldn't care at all. If Good Morning America is to believed (which it isn't) they have already done much worse. Then you are condoning breaking the law. I sure hope you are not a registered leader. I am sure trolls do not make worthwhile philosophical posts. Trolls post all kinds of stuff. And worthwhile is sometimes only the posters feeling.
