  1. If you are a counselor for these badges I would due a cursory review of the requirements with the Scout and if he knows his stuff, I would sign off on the MB's. If you aren't I would try to find a MB counselor & explain what happened & see what the counselor is willing to do.(This message has been edited by evmori)
  2. I don't want to beat a dead horse and I do want to keep on topic but I was taught that Catholic is the only true religion & the only path to heaven. That said I find it contradictory that from sherm's last post that he was taught the Catholic church is the one true church but not the only path to salvation. Now back to your regularly scheduled Lutheran bashing.
  3. Sherm, I was a Catholic for more than 25 years! Went to Catholic grade school! I was an altar boy for many years! I was married in the Catholic church! And I can state with certainty that we were taught that Catholic is the only true religion! My mom who is Catholic still prays that I return to the Catholic religion so I will be in heaven with her!
  4. The 1st word in your quoted post is Those, sherm. Who is Those this passage you posted is referring to? Sound to me like this is taken out of context.
  5. I don't know if you will find an official answer. I have always felt it is up to the MB counselor.
  6. I too noticed BadenP's assertions about Catholics. As a former Baptist who has converted, I understand where those assertions come from, but I also realize that they simply aren't true, and I really think that he should learn more about Catholics before he tries to tell us what they (we) believe. What did BadenP post that was not true, sherm? You are right on the money with The Catholic Church has always and still teaches that they are "the one true church and the only road to true salvation." That's what I learned and that is what my mom still believes!
  7. There ya go again Hal! Putting words in my mouth! Never said people who accept homosexuals are immoral! Ya gotta stop spinning things! Maybe it is about religion. Good point!
  8. I'm not willing to toss my morals to the wind like you are Hal. This has nothing to do with religion, Hal! It has everything to do with morality.
  9. Well then Hal, since the ELCA is allowing homosexuals to become pastors, does that make homosexuality OK?
  10. Of course not, Ed; animals are incapable of consent. Why do you equate homosexuality with bestiality? Do you believe that homosexuals are not human? I'm not equating homosexuality with bestiality nor do I believe or ever state homosexuals are not human. What I am asking is if the ELCA said and ordained pastor could participate in bestiality would that make it OK? Stop trying to spin it your way Hal & answer the question!
  11. Makes no difference why Hal. Would their endorsement make it OK?
  12. And what if the ELCA decided it was OK if ordained pastors had sex with dogs? Would that make it OK?
  13. Gunny, you are absolutely right. I used that example to illustrate how a zero-tolerance policy on double-dipping could be taken too far. If I actually told Johnny the First Class Scout that his camping nights didn't apply to OA eligibility because he had already used them to earn First Class, then I would get a barrage from Johnny, Johnny's parents, and probably the Troop Committee as well, and I would deserve it! Extremely poor example sherm. And an ever worse retreat on your part!
  14. What's the difference if a Scout uses a valid service project for church, school, Scouts, baseball league, math club, etc. Where in Scouting literature does it state this isn't allowed?
  15. $3 isn't the point. It's the way it was handled! Very poorly! If they grabbed the wrong line off the receipt, it was on purpose!
  16. While the amount is insignificant, it's wrong. I buy stuff all the time for my church and I am always reimbursed the full amount I spend. I would never ever never buy anything for this council again!
  17. My wife works at a hospital and her job is to make sure the there are authorizations from the insurance companies for all these tests! The stories she tells about how anal the insurance companies have become! It seems there intent is to put so much red tape in place that you will just toss up your hands and give up then they won't have to pay! It seems they have lost focus of their purpose! I'd bet, scoutldr, that your test were paid for by whatever your insurance company sent!
  18. Interesting Twocubdad. When I was involved with a unit we counted Beaver Day's at camp for community service. Not sure I agree with not counting the service if the Scout receives benefit from it.
  19. Too young. They are burning out now with Tigers in place! Add another year & the drop off will be greater.
  20. I gotta tell ya. All this talk about national health insurance is interesting! Ya think that maybe, just maybe that the cost of some of these tests & procedures is way over priced? Did ya ever take a look at what your insurance pays for tests & services versus what the actual charge was? Hmmm........ And why not make it mandatory that employers who employ 25+ people must offer health insurance? Hmmm ............................ Bring our your dead~
  21. As long as the Brownie in attendance isn't the one being served!
  22. Cub Scouts is a family program basically because of the age of the Cubs. And just because it is a family program doesn't mean the family gets "recognized" just because they show up & support their son/brother/sister. Isn't that what families are suppose to do?
  23. The boy is 11. He can join a Boy Scout unit. The Boy is 10 and completed 5th grade. He can join a Boy Scout unit The boy is 10 and earned AOL. He can join a Boy Scout Troop. A boy is 9 and earned AOL. He can't join a Boy Scout unit.(This message has been edited by evmori)
  24. I'd get a few more details from the teacher and if there is nothing outta place, I'd count 'em!
