There is nothing in the BSA guidelines to stop this. The Scoutmaster is the gatekeeper for MB's. The Scoutmaster should be assigning the MB counselors for the Scouts.

Before you can fix a problem you need to know what the problem is. Just stating "there is a problem with health care" isn't good enough. That's like saying "we got a leak" but not knowing where the leak is!

I think the reason no one has come up with a solution is because no one can actually define the problem. Is the problem there are a lot of employed people & their families without health care or is the problem there are a lot of unemployed people and their families without health care? No I understand not all employees are eligible for health care but that would fall into a different category.

In our county, parents are supposed to be waiting with their elementary school kids at the bus, and they are supposed to be there in the afternoon when the bus drops them off (per county BOE rules). If no parents are at the stop, the bus driver is instructed not to let the kids off at that stop. I don't know how frequently that happens, or if the bus drivers follow that directive. Where does the bus driver take them if there is no one at the stop? This seems a little like too much government to me.

I like the idea of letting the market decide! The problem occurs when someone wants the market to decide their way and when it doesn't they get ticked & claim discrimination!

I was at training this weekend and was told that because our scout training lasted beyond 5:00pm, we had to stay at the camp and could not go home. Apparently it was based on "fatigue." I am going to try that at work to see if my boss has an issue with me sleeping in the office if I work after 5. Now that is just stupid! Did they take everyone's keys? Some people who read rules & regs shouldn't!

#5 on the back of the workbook states. Emphasis mine. 5. When the completed application is received at the council service center, its contents will be verified and the references contacted. The council advancement committee or its designee contacts the person listed as a reference on the Eagle Scout Rank Application either by letter, form, or telephone checklist. The council determines the method or methods to be used. The candidate should have contacted those individuals listed as references before including their names on the application. The candidates should not be involved personally in transmitting any correspondence between persons listed as references and the council service center. Letters are not required unless asked for.

Maybe National does have the authority to make exception, but I don't think "My kid's really smart" qualifies as an exception.

In my school system, "lunch" begins around 1020 and is for 20 minutes. The rest of the day is spent on instruction. Easy solution! You rearrange the day & make lunch during the broadcast! My objection is the effectiveness of the message..."take personal responsibility and stay in school"...if they don't already know that then having BHO say it isn't going to matter. I would agree with that statement but what harm will it actually do to allow your kid to watch this broadcast?
