  1. Rooster7, I never mind when you speak for me. Thanks. My question is where are we NOT paying attention to the Constitution? OGE, Great one! I loved the original SNL cast! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  2. "A religious organization should not be receiving government funding. " Why? Don't quote the Constitution because it's not in their. Actually, by denying a religious organization government funding the Constitution is being violated! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  3. Try talking to your COR & see if they have any means to help. We did this awhile ago & or charter partner started a fund for summer camp for those Scouts who couldn't afford it. Worked out great until the business manager absconded with our funds as well as other funds. Our council offers camperships that pay up to 60% of the camp fee. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  4. packsaddle, Under the control of the LDS? How about living by a high moral standard accepted by many denominations as well as those of no denomination! Or better yet, living up to the Oath & Law. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  5. littlebillie, I'll assume there was a typo in your last post. "Regardless of what ONE or 2 or 20 religions say about gays, others are accepting of gays. and if Caesar (as civil authority) says no big deal, then render let those others render unto Caesar..." This seems to me as an endorsement not merely citing a reference! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 (This message has been edited by evmori)
  6. He is still in critical condition. I should find out more at roundtable this Wednesday. The police caught the guy last night. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  7. Last Friday (1/3/2003) a local Scouter was shot, beaten and robbed while loading work equipment in his auto at a downtown Pittsburgh parking garage. This happened at 11 AM. He is my District's Boy Scout Roundtable Chairman. He is currently in critical condition. Please include him and his family (2 kids) in your prayers. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  8. littlebillie, Ceasar also said no big deal to murder & mayhem! According to you we should embrase these, too! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  9. Ah yes! But a cot used with a space blanket makes for a toasty night! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  10. Thanks to all. I was suprised & honored! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  11. Melodee, Thanks! I wish you would have stopped over & said hi. I was very suprised! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  12. My last year as Cubmaster we had our crossover at our Blue & Gold Dinner. I made a 2' x 6' tray out of wood & got some small rocks & painted them bright orange. This was to represent hot coals. My wife got some wooden arrows & decorated them for the crossover Webelos. I purchased some flash paper from a magic store & wraped it around the arrows (Iput foil under the flash paper so as not to burn the arrow). The crossover Webelos 1st had to walk across the "hot coals". Then I told them that I was going to light their arrow on fire and if the arrow didn't burn they were worthy to crossover. I lit the flash paper & it goes up in a flash. I then grabbed the foil & pulled it off. It was a really cool effect. If you want to try something like this you will need to practice to make sure you get it right! Good luck! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  13. Korea, I feel the uniform should be required. I can understand not wanting to put a financial burden on anyone but what is the difference between a sports team requiring a uniform (which is usually more expensive) and the BSA requiring one. Until there is a National policy that states uniforms are required district advanvement committees can't require them at Eagle BOR's. In my Troop, I do require all Scouts to have uniforms. I only require my SPL, ASPL & PL's to wear them at all times. The rest of the Troop is required to wear their Class B Troop 1 shirts. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  14. kwc57, Got it! I don't understand the reasoning. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  15. Hmmm................................ If a Boy Scout is not required to have a uniform then whay all the fuss about uniforms? Does this also mean a District Advancement Committee can't require an Eagle candidate to where a uniform to an Eagle BOR? Hmmm ........................... Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  16. Our permission slips are on our web site & they are updated for each trip. It is the responsibility of the Scout to get one & complete it & turn it it to his PL. It's tough getting the Scouts to take responsibility for themselves if mom & dad have been doing it for a long time. You need to stick with it & realize it will take some time to turn around. DON'T BACK DOWN! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  17. Back at ya ASM7 Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  18. What this all boils down to is political correctness which is wrong. Being politically correct to me means being wishy washy about anything that matters. What's wrong with a judge that is a wiccan? or member of the BSA? or a member of an exclusive all male country club? As Americans, they have that right! When political correctness gets involved then everything gets screwed up! OGE, I agree. No way can you compare the BSA & KKK in any aspect. A joyous New Year to all! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  19. PDA's, GPS, digital camera's - no problem. These electronics are useful devices not toys. Gameboys, TV's and th like are toys and have no place on a campout. My Scouts know these are not allowed on camping trips. I do however allow them in the vehicle traveling to & fro the trip but they must stay in the vehicle & not be used during the campout. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  20. I'm not speaking for Rooster7 but avowed to me means admitting one is a homosexual whether in public or private. A joyous New Year to all! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  21. Rooster7, Excellent answer! Also, I think what littlebillie is refering to is animals not humans. We as humans were given free will by God, animals weren't. This free will gives us the option to choose our path. Animals can't do this since they don't have free will! littlebillie, Gotta disagree. While overt hertosexuality might not be appropriate, it is in no way the same as any type of homosexuality! A joyous New Year to all! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  22. twocubdad, The answer is very simple. Homosexuality is immoral & not consistent with the values of the BSA. Easy, huh? A joyous New Year to all! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  23. Legalism in any form is harmful. Merlyns legalism & right wing Christian legalism is harmful. There needs to be a middle somewhere we can all agree on! We were all made by the same Creator! eisley, Great prayer. A little cutting but great none the less! A joyous New Year to all! On last question to Merlyn & the like, Do you celebrate Christmas? A simple yes or no please. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  24. Being a SM, I don't have a committee vote since I am not offically a committee member. What my role is at committee meetings is to bring the needs of the Troop to the committee and explain these needs. More or less, I am a lobbyist for the Troop! (I hate political stuff!) A joyous New Year to all! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
