  1. Bob, Agreed about Scout Spirit. If a Scout doesn't attend Troop meetings becuase he feels he doesn't need to, how is that showing Scout Spirit? Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  2. Bob, How would not attending Troop meetings, activities, etc. be "Living the Scout Oath & Law in your everyday life?" Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  3. Ditto to the other posts. If this Scout has completed all the requirements for Eagle then he deserves it. Bob White, You stated that Scout Spirit is not about Troop participation. Wouldn't lack of participation in Troop meeting, activities, etc. be in conflict with a Scout being loyal to the Troop? Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  4. What these Scouts did was wrong. They should have been sent home and then the Troop committee could have been apprised of the situation and dealt with it accordingly. Now, by sending them home, is this punishment? It could be considered that. Granted, we are not responsible for punishing Scouts. But it is our responsibility to handle situations like these with the best interests of the Troop & safety for the Scouts. 5. Scot will be in mine and my Troop's prayers. Please pass this along to Scot. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  6. We had the same problem so we developed "Knot of the Night". At each Troop meeting we would start by haveing each Scout tie a knot they should know for rank. We even made it easier by starting with a square knot. Then we went to two half hitches then taut line then bowline then timberhitch then figure 8. It was suprising how well they did & how much they retained! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  7. These are good questions, but this horse has been beaten one too many times. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  8. laura, Go for it! And if your current Troop won't let you, I've got a place in my Troop for you! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  9. I wish all questions were this easy. Answer - No. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  10. From one Eagle dad to another, congrats to you and your son. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  11. If I'm not mistaken, for women and men to stay in the same cabin, there must be a separate room for hte women regardless of what she is sleeping in. Otherwise, either the men or women will have to sleep in a tent. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  12. Very well said eamonn. Very well said. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  13. Bob, You once equated a leader who smokes as a bad example ergo a bad leader. Now you claim smoking doesn't make a bad leader. Make up your mind! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  14. Got what? Your point of view, Bob? Nowhere in the G2SS does it say smoking is prohibited. It is not encouraged but not prohibited. Therefore, Quixote's interpretation is wrong. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  15. merlyn, So by the BSA not allowing girls to join the youth ranks, that's not discrimination? Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  16. merlyn, What is your stance on girls, not female leaders, in Boy Scouts? Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  17. merlyn, Never claimed to know the law as well as you. But discrimination is discrimination regardless of what you are discriminationg against. And in the BSA's case, the Supreme Court agreed with the BSA so that makes it legal! By the way, what is you postion on girls in the BSA? Not female leaders, minds you. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  18. merlyn, You say the BSA discriminates based on religion & creed. You forgot sex! No girls! I've noticed this isn't a problem for you. And if it's not, why are the others? Sounds like you only want to fight the ones you have a chance of winning! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  19. Bobwhite = Chicken in white tights It even rhymns!
  20. All my boys or none? I really don't think it is the decision of the Webelos leader. It's the boys decision. Grandma plans to attend all the campouts? Has grandma talked to the new SM about this? Again, it's not her decision. It's the SM decision. Boy Scouts is completely different from Cubs. A 9 year old might have a blast paling around with the older guys but at some point the older guys are not going to want the 9 year old around & that will have an adverse effect on this boy. He should stay in Cubs & finish the program and move up with the rest of the boys his age. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  21. littlebillie, Wet noodles at 20 paces! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  22. Was it worth it? Yes. One of the best training courses I have taken anywhere. Did it make me a better leader? Yes it did. The ticket is the end product of the course. This is where you apply what you were taught. By all means, go. "I use to be an Eagle ........." Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  23. Bob, Thanks for typing slow. I can't understand as well when you type fast. The policy doesn't say you can't smoke or allow smoking in front of the Scouts. Yes I follow the rules. If an adult is seen by a Scout smoking he is seen by a Scout smoking. I don't promote smoking in my Troop but if it happens it happens. There are many more things that are more important than worrying about if a Scout sees an adult smoking. By the way, I typed slow for you, too. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
