Gotta agree with fboisseau - problem parent. I have had ADD & ADHD kids in my Troop. One earned his Eagle lst year. The parents told their son the rules of the Troop apply to everyone & backed us whenever needed. Another is having his Eagle BOR this month. Same story as the other one. One left the Troop. Why? Mom felt everything must be tailored to her son & no matter what we did, we didn't handle anything properly. Even when her son admitted to stealing from a fellow Scout. Problem parents. If the BSA is discriminating against gays, aren't the United Way's discriminating against the BSA for NOT accepting gays? Doesn't the Notre Dame Club discriminate since you must be a graduate of Notre Dame to be a member? What's the difference? Cub Scouts no. 2nd year Webelos yes. When we hold camporees in my district, there is usually a Cub Scout camporee included. It is only for one day but the Cubs get to see how & what teh Boy Scouts do. Sort of wet their whistle. This works well. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Let's see. National says no & this council wants to make up it's own rules regardless of what National says. Sounds like insubordination to me. It also sounds like there is some heavy lobbying going on in the Philly area & the powers that be in that council are giving into it. Dan, if he is he is wrong. The only age requirement other than the minimum age to join Boy Scouts is all the requirements must be completed and all the paperwork must be turned into the council office by midnight the day before the Scout's 18th birthday. Other than that a leader who will not let a Scout earn his Eagle even though the Scout has completed ALL the requirements for the ranks is in direct violation of BSA policy. This past Sunday, a young adult who earned his Eagle in my Troop committed suicide. The details are sketchy. He if 3 months younger than my own son. His two younger brothers are in my Troop & his mom is my CC and his dad is one of my ASM's. I have know this family for over 15 years & my wife and myself were instrumental in getting them involved in Scouting. This is devestating. Please keep this family in your prayers.
