It's time to fight fire with fire. If the Pew Charitable Trusts & the United Way won't fund the BSA, don't give them your money. Give it directly to the BSA or another organization that embraces the same values you have. Focus on the Family, and Promise Keepers come to mind. If you can't decide, give it to your church. SM406, It seems the reason this failed was the SM was the one who decided who would be the SPL, not the Scouts. Even though the SM picked the SPL, the Scouts should have done the right thing & followed his leadership. "The scouts from another patrol have no investment in following his lead. " Might not be true. This PL might have been the ASPL or SPL so the other patrol would have an investment in him. Laurie, 1st of all welcome to the campfire. There's a lot of great info and help here. Now to your situation, if this "problem" child is coming into your Webelos den you set the rules. Not mom & not your assistant. You. I would tailor the rules to make sure if this kid crosses the line there are consequences for his action or words. I have never nor will I ever put up wiht foul language from my Scouts. I will even correct them when they say "Oh my G--". In my opinion, there is no reason for this behavior. merlyn, Obviously the government feels the BSA is a good organization since they have a federal charter. Been that way for a lot of years. Lot's of great people were Boy Scouts. You want to remove government support to groups that practice religious discrimination? Are you going after all groups or just the BSA? And yes I can understand.
