  1. Ditto to eamon except regardless of how many people are there, we divide the total made by the number of Scouts and don't include the parents. The parents can help but their son doesn't get an extra share because they did. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  2. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I vision just went through my head. It's gone now!
  3. aco40, God doesn't discriminate. He will accept anyone who honestly in their heart proclaims Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior. SM406, Christian schools don't ask for government funding. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  4. Mark, Since this is an Eagle project, I would kick it to the next level. By not doing so sets a dangerous precident! And the Scout himself might realize the errors that occured & come up with a better project! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  5. littlebillie, I doubt if a Christian organization would discriminate. Now the KKK, that's a different story. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  6. Mark, I would inform the district AC AND your DE AND the council advancement committee that the project was completed prior to the final approval. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  7. My green box. Has everyting I need. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  8. pack, Pay attention to the source when you are reading something like this. These groups are anti-Scouting so you will get the anti-Scouting slant. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  9. No Merlyn, I don't favor the government funding certain religions over another. I favor the gonvernment funding projects based on their merit, not who is sponsoring them. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  10. Mark, I think I understand you posted the project was completed prior to getting the district advancement committee approval? From my understanding this makes the project a service project & the Scout will have to get another Eagle project. Bob, Am I correct? Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  11. I'll let ya know what happens. We are going to camp next week with a provisional patrol and an existing PL in charge of the patrol. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  12. OGE, I understand that part. All I have said since the beginning of this was I don't feel it is always necessary. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  13. Merlyn, Once again you fail to see the point. If you would get your head out of the lawa books & look at reality you would see all you are doing is trying to destroy the moral fabric of this great country. I sure hope your comedy routine is good cause you're gonna need a better way to make a living than this! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  14. OGE, If you paint the flamingos & elephants green they wil match you tent! Camo animals! Bob, Makes no difference how many people want to learn sewing or any other topic for that matter. Just because you don't see the need or don't want to doesn't make it a bad idea. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  15. Bob, You are assuming the PL is assigned by the SM. If you read my earlier post I stated that wasn't true. There already is an elected PL which will be leading the provisional patrol. Thanks again. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  16. OK. So a branch of the government at any level passes a law that states they will provide funding to non profit groups who will help assist unwed mothers finding employment. Now the local Presbyterian church has a program tailored to just this need and applies to the government for the funding. And the KKK has a similar program. Based on what you are saying neither should get the funding because they discriminate. So the result is two organizations that have an existing proven progam to assist unwed mothers find employment would be left out and there would be unwed mothers who wouldn't be able to find work because the government couldn't help fund them. Now that's what I call the gonvernment working for the people who elect them! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  17. Bob, Thanks for the info but what you posted doesn't explain the methods for choosing what topics become merit badges. It just explains what some of the results could be if a Scout earns those badges. Based on that, sweing would fit because a Scout could decide to become a tailor or costume designer. Actually, almost any topic would fit that criteria. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  18. Bob, I wasn't refering to the original post. I was refering to your statement "I can better lead a group by understanding the individuals in the group, I do not have to have been a part of the group for that to happen." And what I said was "If the provisional patrol has 6 Scouts (not including the PL) and 3 of those Scouts are in the PL's patrol what is the point of electing a new PL when one already exists? A good Scout should be able to follow any leader and according to the end of your statement "I can better lead a group by understanding the individuals in the group, I do not have to have been a part of the group for that to happen." you also feel this should work." You're answer didn't address either. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  19. I agree with the part about the government not setting up a religion. That is one of the reasons many of our founding fathers left their home countries. But funding and passing laws to aid different religions are two different things! I have no problem with the not passing laws part but how does that get interpreted into funding? Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  20. Sharon, You gotta check out the new coffee pot Coleman just put out. It's a dripper for camp stoves! It works great! We got ours at Costco & it came with two insulated stainless steel mugs! $40 bucks but no more boiled coffee! I've heard the " I've got kids... Can't get the weekend off" excuses many times. I always tell them "I got kids & need my weekends, too. But I made the time - so must you." The short leash routine works well becaues those parents who really want to be involved will find the time. And those are the ones I want. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  21. Merlyn, There is nothing in the Constitution regarding funding. The 1st Ammsndement does guarantee the freedom of religion & the government not establishing a religion. Funding different denominations is in no way establishing a religion. I really don't think the founding fathers of this great country would approve of what you are doing. It's really too bad I won't get to spend eternity with you. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  22. SharonNC, Welcome to the campfire. Have a cup o coffee & join in the fun! While the BSA doesn't require volunteers to be trained, we do in my Troop. All volunteers are required to attend training. If they don't they are kept on a very short leash until they do. If they never do, they have less authority than a new Boy Scout! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  23. There isn't any policy but common sense prevails.
