Failure to act as bugler for Star advancment
evmori replied to mikemayer67's topic in Advancement Resources
I think you handled the situation very well. The term is "serve actively" and doing nothing is not serving actively. -
Tax Supported Entities - Who/ What are they?
evmori replied to Scoutfish's topic in Issues & Politics
Dunno Mike. They don't pay taxes but still receive municipal services. -
Yes he has to be able to fill in all the spots but the dates MUST match up with his rank advancement!
-
Pie before and after the nap! I'm not sure there is a problem?

Tax Supported Entities - Who/ What are they?
evmori replied to Scoutfish's topic in Issues & Politics
What about houses of worship? They pay no taxes on their property so you and I subsidize them. -
Your entire purpose of posting here is to incite, Merlyn. You have no interest in the BSA other than to tear it down. AKA a troll. No dishonesty from me, just fact.
-
n Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2] That's you Merlyn! What untruth am I telling?
-
Why are you posting untruths about me Merlyn?
-
Based on the information posted, you don't think this an excessive amount of time for an appeal, ljnrsu? I'm not calling anyone about this. This isn't my problem. I know how long normal appeals take and this is by no means a normal appeal as we were led to believe. When mdsummer45 does post the results of the appeal, will the entire story be posted as well? I love how we are getting 2nd hand information.
-
This is a non-starter and should be brought to the attention of the COR.

The simple answer is games of chance are forbidden. The complicated answer is games of chance are forbidden.

Gotta stop feeding the troll know as Merlyn.

Well Ed, I could answer every one of your questions but I won't because there is not an answer I could give you that would satisfy you. No wonder those who have insight into this situation have stopped posting. Then answer them. I read back through this thread and I was believing that this Scout was getting the run-around until this got shot down at the Council level. We don't have all the facts! We never will. Michael Lovecchio is a program assistant for youth development. Ya coulda got him on the phone. I'd be more interested in talking to his boss, though.
-
Fact is I know the SM. I have not brought this up with him since I don't feel it's my place to do so. However during a conversation we had a few weeks ago he mentioned the appeal and the fact that it was still unresolved. And you didn't ask what appeal or why it is still unresolved? Fact is that I spoke with Michael Lovecchio from National to ask a general question about the process without mentioning names. He asked me if this was about Justin with out me ever using the Scout's name. I figure he's been getting calls on this. He told me to call Council. Did you also figure Mr. Lovecchio might have heard about all the banter on this site about it? Did you call council? Fact is I've spoke with mdsummer on more than one occasion about the appeal and we've all read about it here. This adds nothing to the validity of this situation. Fact is that mdsummer told me recently that the issue has been returned to Council. Recently? Is that yesterday or within the last 6 months? And did she state what council was going to do about it or why it was returned? Fact is this appeal has been mentioned to me by three different people, the SM, the mom and National. So? This proves nothing. I believe (and this is just an opinion as opposed to the above information which is all fact) that the new regs. on defining "Active" has something to do with why this is taking so long. If I'm not mistaken, those regs went inot place AFTER this started. And even if they were in place, this is taking way to long for that to be the reason. Justin did something and got caught.

Serious Scout Discipline Advice Needed
evmori replied to ProudMom's topic in Open Discussion - Program
Well, Engineer61, based on the previous answers, they would write 500 word essays & spend more time together! -
Help! Where is the handbook for the Troop Method
evmori replied to E-Mtns's topic in The Patrol Method
There is no "troop" method so their only recourse is to make it up as they go. -
Dang that sounds like a blast! Next time, ya should get the buy-in from the PLC & SM before you go to all that trouble. Sorry you got burned.
-
I'm with Engineer61 and TwoCubDad on this. The boys dealt with this the way they would like adults to deal with it and the result is less than adequate. The adults should be handling discipline and in fact this is stated in BSA literature.
-
I'm with Engineer61. While this is more than a slap on the wrist, it isn't much more. No one has advocated corporeal punishment. I have advocated suspension, which is something that I feel should still happen. You SHOULD NOT use anything that resembles corporal punishment. Work (service, dish washing, etc.) is not necessarily corporal punishment, but it may be seen by some parents as such. Politically correct attitudes like this never solve anything. Having someone put on latrine duty or perform a service project or washing dishes is by no means corporeal punishment and if a parent sees it as that then this is probably a contributing factor as to why their little angel is the one in trouble. The "punishment" does not fit the "crime" in this instance.

I know lots Eagle732. I know no appeal takes this long.
-
Ed, You're a piece of work! Thanks Gern! I will consider that a compliment! NJ, Yup I know there is no evidence of a lot of things. That's when the facts get muddied.
-
You can't have too many MB counselors! And this isn't the unit's call! This is a district/council approval. I'm with Scoutfish. Sounds like there are some control issues here and it also sounds like the majority of MB's are done in house. While this is OK, it sorta bypasses the adult association part of MB's. Who in this unit assigns the MB Counselor?

It seems there was a server crash NJ. There is no evidence he was or wasn't an avowed homosexual while he was a Scout. Still gonna stick to my statement.
-
Another month and still nothing! Soon it will be a whole year! Oh well! They say no news is good news!

I couldn't get in until today! Server crash!
