dan, You are a card! I remember that! I refered to the prior edition of the BS handbook because I didn't have the current edition handy! I can't remember when it was or what the topic, though! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

All this over something that isn't even required by the BSA!

Depends on wht you plan on doing with the $20 per Scout. We charge $5/month or $50/year. Registration is over & above this. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Funny how the uniform is one of the eight methods of Scouting but nowhere is having a uniform a requirement to be a member of the BSA! Funny! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Bob makes a good point. But he doesn't answer questions. I guess he thinks they will just go away. NOT!! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

are committees designed to give us headaches or what?

My council requires local tour permits for all trips under 500 miles regardless of the destination. I know of nothing on the form that states it doesn't need to be filed when traveling to local council property. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori) -
Not a bad idea. We use fundraiser so the Scouts can earn money to help pay for summer camp. They pay monthly dues plus the cost of the annual registration. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Philadelphia Says BSA's Land Use in Jeopardy

This wide stuff is annoying! I don't disagree. But if I was a Philly resident I would be upset that they are discriminating against the BSA. How many other organizations that discriminate does the city of Philly support? Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
From what was posted it sounds like the 3rd degree. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

I noticed the uniform on the previews. I don't watch the show. I think it's a bunch of mindless drivel. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Bob, I posted this on 9/18/2003 at 6:00:31 AM. " "That's Okay Ed, I didn't think you would answer the question, I just wanted to point out your contradictory statements." What didn't I answer, Bob? "It's a very simple policy, I am confident that the majority of the forum readers understand it and will abide by it. What you choose to do with what you think it means is of course up to you." And I said I don't understand it where? You read between the lines better than anyone!" I see two questions at this point unanswered. I'm not attacking you Bob. Just holding you to the same standard you hold me. If you view this as an attack I'm sorry. It was not meant that way. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Philadelphia Says BSA's Land Use in Jeopardy

If you discriminate against me I'll discriminate against you. This creates a vicious cycle! KKK, NAMBALA, NAACP. Makes no difference. It is still discrimination. The only difference with the BSA stance is the supreme court said the BSA can legally discriminate. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
Bob, Now who's not answering questions? I think we all agree that the wording in the G2SS can be interpreted differently. And I don't think we disagree on the intent of the prohibition. We just wish it was worded differently. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

So it's OK for the city of Philadelphia to discriminate but not OK for the BSA? I'm confused! MAybe it's a w i d t h thing. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
Presentation - how it is presented.

Bob, Bob, Bob, I answered the questions you asked. You read between the lines & came up with your assumptions. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

"Is it your belief that the BSA allows you to point a BB rifle at a person, since it was not specifically identified and it does not meet the dictionary definition of firearm? What leads you to believe that a squirt gun is not included by the word ANY?" Bob, These are the two question you posed. I answered them individually and added "I agree that pointing any type of firearm or gun or any weapon for that fact at another person is wrong." I don't believe the rule applies for BB guns & not squirt guns. I never said that. Your reading between the lines is where that came from. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

OGE, The presentation is the only difference. Ed

"Is it your belief that the BSA allows you to point a BB rifle at a person, since it was not specifically identified and it does not meet the dictionary definition of firearm?" No - my point is once again the language of the rule. "What leads you to believe that a squirt gun is not included by the word ANY?" It doesn't fit the definition of firearm & isn't listed. I agree that pointing any type of firearm or gun or any weapon for that fact at another person is wrong. "The intent behind both rules is to discourage the Scouts from drinking and smoking in their lives outside of Scouting." You wrote these rules? You must have since you know the intent. If not, you must be reading between the lines. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Firearm - A weapon, especially a pistol or rifle, capable of firing a projectile and using an explosive charge as a propellant. Right from Websters. So a squirt gun is ok! Doesn't fit the definition of firearm. And if lasar tag wasn't specifically listed, then it would be OK too! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

"The Program is the same, some packaging and some administration is different. It's the same show it's just a different theater." This is exactly what I have been saying! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
