HOW LONG DOES A SCOUT HAVE TO COMPLETE A MERIT BADGE ?
evmori replied to caddmommy's topic in Advancement Resources
I think I posted this before but I'll post it again. How long does a Scout have to finish a merit badge? Until he does or turns 18 years of age, whichever comes 1st. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
Bob, Sharing in leadership & responsibility doesn't mean "have a position of responsibility". It means be an active member of a Patrol. I don't think there is anything in any BSA manual that states every Scout in a Troop should have a position of responsibility. Once again, this is your interpretation. And I don't want to be spoon fed anything! You just seem to know the manuals inside & out so you should be able to cite chapter & verse without any trouble when asked. By not doing so only tells me it isn't in there. Sorry please! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

OK Bob, where and in what handbook does it state each Scout in a Troop should have a position of responsibility? Not your interpretation of what it says. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

A Boy Scout with one day experience in a position of responsibility? I don't see the need for this. He should get a chance to see how things work in a Patrol & Troop before being asked to serve in a potition of responsibility. What position would this Scout have? Ed
-
So, Bob, a Scout who just crossed over yesterday to this Troop of 49 Scouts (he is #50) will have a position of responsibility? Ed

So women would go to back ally's to get abortions. So? No one has explained why abortion isnt murder but if a pregnant women is shot & dies & the unborn fetus dies, the shooter is charged with a double homocide! What is the difference? Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

"Irregardless of troop size, by using the patrol method every scout should have a position of responsibility." Bob, Do you mean in a Troop of 50 Scouts there should be 50 postitions of responsibility? Ed(This message has been edited by evmori)

Now that we are done, what else?

Actually, I was the one who chose who would present my beads & when they would be presented. The course director had nothing to do with it. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4: NE-V-120 -
"Yes, a woman has the right to choose. Yes, her physician is the one to discuss the matter with her - reviewing all the medical impacts of the procedure. She can discuss the "morality" of the matter with herself, her religious counsellor or any counsellor (friend, social worker, etc) that she cares to pick. The final decision is hers and hers alone." So the difference between a pregnant women loosing her unborn child in an auto accident with a drunk driver & an abortion is the women has a choice in an abortion? And that makes its OK? And if abortion is OK, why are people who kill unborn babies in a mothers womb tried for the murder of that unborn baby and abortion doctors aren't? Ed Mori Scoutmaster Trop 1 1 Peter 4:10

question about age requirements concerning eagle
evmori replied to hsoj's topic in Open Discussion - Program
My understanding is everything must be completed and turned into council by midnight of the day before your 18th birthday. A Scout can have his BOR after his 18th birthday but he only has 90 days after his birthday to have his BOR. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
That's what I thought. Thanks!

For the Scouts in my Troop, we use only Class 2 forms & for the adults ove 40, we use only Class 3. Are we out of compliance?

"Ed you and I just disagree...about everything." Not true Bob. We agree on more than you think. What we don't agree on is your interpretation of a lot of the BSA rules & regs. And we agree we disagree. I wouldn't consider Mr. Clinton a shining example of the Democratic party. Actually, his dislike for the BSA is probably a good thing. Rooster7, You post that describes your convictions is excellent! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
It's still up to the CO if they want this guy as a leader. I, too, would like to know what he was convicted of! By the way, welcome to the campfire roadwatchr. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Just for the record, I am adopted. And NJ, what's the big deal? We have discussed many similar things in this forum!

Huh? The ends of what means? More info needed. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Fat Old Guy brought this up in one of his recent posts. Why is OK to kill an unborn baby but not OK to kill a convicted murderer? To me, the only difference is abortion is a medical procedure. I don't agree with it, especially the partial birth kind. What does everyone else think? Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

MarkNoel, Never said discrimination against gays was OK. All I said was you can't compare racial discrimination with gay discrimination. Being gay is a choice (I know you don't agree with this). A person has no choice as to their skin color. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -

I'm a democrat. Why? Because JFK was. No other reason. I consider myself more conservative than not. It depends on the situation more than anything. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
Medical History: Den leaders, Scoutmasters, team coaches, and crew Advisors should review these and become knowledgeable about the medical needs of the youth members in their unit. What this says to me is as a leader I need to read & understand the medical history of each Scout. That can be achieved by reading the medical form. Is this confidential? Yes! Do I tell everyone I know that Tommy Tenderfoot has a wart problem? No! Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Bob, I'm glad I entertain you. You don't entertain me. There are times you actually scare me. You read only what you want then apply your interpretation of BSA policy & claim it's gospel! I'm very happy my son was never in a unit you were a leader in. Ed Mori Scoutmaster Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

" And you mean to tell us that a boy scout doesn't know if he is lactose intolerant?" No Bob, youdidn't know because the parents never told you & you never reviewed the medical form! THe kid drank whatever you gave him without looking because he was in pain & thirsty. He trusted you.
