  1. No Bob. I'm only gonna show up when I need my book signed or the camping trip or outing will benefit my advancement. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  2. Doesn't sound like these boys are being rushed at all! It sounds like they are learning & earning at a good pace & holding them back could be detrimental to them. I do feel a 10 yr old Boys Scout is a tad young but there are exceptions to everything! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  3. I wanna be a member of Bob's Troop so I can show up for Troop meetings whenever I want to & only go on the camping trips & outings I like. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  4. I came to those conclusion based on your post. Since the BSA has no attendance requirements a Scout can show up whenever he needs to. And if he only needs to show up when he needs something that's ok in your Troop. No committment necessary. Did I mention merit badges? Nope! Never even considered them. And no we don't work on merit badges in our Troop meetings. Once again, you assumed wrong. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  5. So if I was a youth member of Bob's Troop, I would not need to show up for Troop meeting in order to advance. I could show up once & awhile go over the rank advancement in my book get it signed off & then leave. And I would be able to advance at least through 2nd Class. I would probably be able to due the same thing if elected or appointed to a POR after 2nd Class! I could probably get to Eagle and only show up once or twice a month for Troop meetings & outings! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  6. How does the rest of the PLC feel about this? What does your SM say? Who is this? I would sit down with your SM & discuss your concerns. I would also discuss having the PLC draft a set of rules & regs for the Troop. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  7. The Righteous Brothers names are Bill Medley & Bobby Hatfield! Bobbie just died! A sad day for Rock n Roll. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4;0
  8. And Anne Wilson & Anna Nicole Smith are one & the same! You have never seend them together and a wig solves the hair color!
  9. And the Righteous Brothers aren't even related! Bobby Hatfield died this week.
  10. fotoscout, I don't agree. Families defiance to wearing the uniform correctly? Never seen this before. If he is never "up front" then he is never "up front". He doesn't deserve to be for this. Maybe he will be "up front" for something else. Maybe not. Either way, he is not being embarrassed or humiliated by anyone. If he was "up front" because he was not in proper uniform then your statement would be true. Not everyone will be "up front". And there is nothing wrong with that! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  11. Best candy bar ............ anything made by Sarris Candies. Local company. Now back to our regularly scheduled thread. In my Troop, we schedule BOR's on an as needed basis. And the Scout(s) who need a BOR are the ones who request it via the Advancement Chair. Once requested, it is then scheduled. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  12. Sure following the policies & procedures is being trustworthy & obedient. But were these policies & procedures written in acordance with the Scout Law? I doubt it. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  13. I am a leader in Troop 1. There are quite a few Troop 1's throughout the USA. On our Troop's web site, there is a page that lists the Troop 1's on the web. Check it out! http://www.bsa.net/pa/t1 Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  14. Good thread. The Scout Law applies to the people not the tasks. Setting BOR times or meeting times has nothing to do with the Scout Law. These are tasks. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  15. This is pretty simple. Tell the SM you are going with them or your son isn't goin with him. I would take this to the Troop committee as a concerned parent. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  16. Sanction=allow. The BSA allows it so therefore they sanction it. Simple. And if they allow it they should allow it on council property. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  17. Since patrol outings are a sanctioned BSA activity it would only make sense if they could use BSA property. But they can't. Sure they can go somwhere other than BSA property but if the BSA says this is OK the let them use BSA property! There has to be a reason why they can't. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  18. Gotta agreee with others, Bob. If the BSA encourages Patrol outings without adult supervision then why can't these Patrols use BSA property? BTW, the old saying goes "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink". I just modified it to fit this discussion. Sorry to confuse you. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  19. We haven't run into any problems yet. Actually, none of the Scouts in my unit have them. The adults all do & there are usually around 4 to 5 cell phones on most camping trips. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  20. "That is the pessimism of unhappy adults not the nature of children who are scout age." Not a true statement. You know the saying, you can lead a Scout to patrol outings but you can't make them go! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  21. OGE, I am in no way speaking for Bob, but yes you are sunk. And if that would happen, watch the BSA change it's policy ASAP! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  22. Eagles Rock! I'm a talon ya, We're the Eagles! NE-V-120 Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
