  1. Where in the 1st Ammendment does it say a person has to be acting as an individual? And if he doesn't own the building, how can he control it? And because he was the chief justice, the 1st Ammendment doesn't apply to him regarding his freedom to express his religion & his freedom of speech? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  2. I'm not disagreeing with either Bob or Fat Old Guy. So if a Scout shows up for a BOR other than Eagle & has no uniform, that's OK? Remember what the Advancement procedures state! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  3. OGE, Outstanding! If you really want to get them scratching their heads, try a little Zappa or Jefferson Airplane! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  4. mk9750, I agree completely especially the part about not violating the Establishment clause. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  5. So by placing the 10 Commandments in the courthouse, he established a religion? Don't think so. What about his right to free speech & freedom of religion as defined under the 1st Ammendment? Wasn't that violated? And if not, why? And what religion did he establish? The Jewish religion? And by me signing my posts the way I do, am I establishing a religion? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  6. So if an Eagle candidate shows up for his Eagle BOR in cutoff shorts & a t-shirt that's OK? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  7. The establishment of religion? How does placing the 10 Commandments in a public building establish a religion? What religion does it establish? NJ, I read this before but thabks for the link. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  8. And pray tell, SR540Beaver, what BSA rule covers this?
  9. But what law did judge Roy Moore violate by placing the 10 Commandments?
  10. Share OGE share. I love Jethro Tull!! Can you stand on one leg for a long time like Ian Anderson?
  11. But you posted "The Advancement Policies require that the scout were as complete a uniform as he can when at a BOR." How can something be required for a BOR if it isn't required for membership? I did find what you posted under BOR's for ranks other than Eagle. I couldn't find anything regarding a Scout's uniform under Eagle BOR's. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  12. "My son and his buddies were into the Beattles at the time, so I had to "endure" Abbey road, the White Album, and Yellow Submarine for four hours." I love the Beatles! Be thankful it wasn't Black Sabbath or Def Leppard! Fat Old Guy, I agree 100%! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  13. Thanks for not answering my question, Bob. If the BSA doesn't require a Scout to have a uniform to be a member, how can it require a Scout to be in the uniform it doesn't require? And I did look in the Advancement Policies & didn't find reference to a Scout being in uniform. Got a page #? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  14. SR540Beaver, Excellent post! Bob, You analogies are a little off base. You can't compare job descriptions to leadership. A wide receiver can be a leader as well as a quarterback. A criminal can even be a leader. Try this. You want to learn to type. A skill. To do so, you must follow the instructions of a teacher and/or a typing manual. If you follow correctly, you will learn to type! And if you agree with SR540Beaver's post, then you agree with me! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 (This message has been edited by evmori)
  15. Only posted two. The part about the uniforms was an observation. Mentally awake applies. The 1st on I posted about hitting etc was to help prevent the poking & proding Scout age boys due. An occasional push or poke isn't isn't violence or harassment but can lead to it. The 2nd was to put in place a standard of who notifies who. As far as the uniforming, Bob, have you sat on any Eagle boards where the Eagle candidate was NOT in uniform? And didn't you expect the Eagle candidate to be in FULL uniform for his Eagle BOR? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  16. Know what is going on around you. And like OGE posted, unimpaired. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  17. Knots is cool! We used "Knot of the Night" to start our Troop meetings. Each night we would teach a new knot. Then the Troop would practice. At the next meeting, the Scouts would have to tie the knot they learned the previous meeting & then learn a new one. This was progressive. And it seemed to work! We are due for a refresher. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  18. Always sad to hear a unit go down. Sorry. Eamonn
  19. Gotta agree. We don't allow Gameboys, Walkmans, etc. on camping trips & outings. These devices are even discouraged at our council summer camp. If you're gonna be outdoors, enjoy the outdoors. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  20. That was constructive, Bob. I'm so glad I posted what I did so you could belittle it! Thanks so much! And thanks for addressing both rules I posted.
  21. This thread isn't about homosexuals avowed or otherwise. It's about rules at the Troop level. If you want to discuss homosexuals AGAIN then start another thread. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  22. I don't live real far from Eamonn & this is big news here. It seems there is more to this story than lack of hand washing, though. We carry Purell and use it a lot. Most of the places we camp there is not running water so this comes in quite handy. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
