  1. "If poor attendance is a valid indication of a poor program, why isn't the reverse true?" Excellent point! And is attendance a valid meter to judge the quality of the program by? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  2. "No one who disagrees with that point has yet to provide a shred of evidence to support their opinion." And those who agree haven't provided the same.(This message has been edited by evmori)
  3. Requiring the membership to be religious doesn't make the BSA a religious organization. That is a membership requirement. The BSA supports many different religions & denominations. But the BSA a religious organization, I don't think so. Chaplin & Chaplin aides are not required. They are optional. If they were required then maybe you would be accurate in your statement. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  4. You mean because the BSA has a Declaration of Religious Principles that makes it a religious organization? I never knew that!!!! That would mean that any organization that had a declaration of religious principles was a religious organization!!! Actually I did know that but I don't think because the BSA has a Declaration of Religious Principles makes it a religious organization. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  5. The BSA by it's own definition is a religious organization? It is? I never knew that! Ya learn something all the time around here! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  6. ozemu, Thanksgiving is a USA holiday. We celebrate when the pilgrims & indians made peace in 1621. We eat turkey, stuffing & mashed potatoes. Great food! The point I was trying to make & did so very poorly was that this boy knew what could happen when he has sex. And he was having sex outside of marriage which some consider a sin. And these two were very young so there might even been laws broken. So I don't think this boy should be looked on as a role model by his fellow Scouts. I don't think the Troop sould sweep it under the table. It needs to be dealt with. I'm not saying kick the kid out. What I am saying is he should not be in a leadership role in the Troop. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  7. Yes he does need the support of Scouting. But he is in no way a role model for other Scouts to follow. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 Happy Thanksgiving
  8. "On my honor I will do my best" To me this says "I promise to do my best". Referrering to the other thread, how is impregnating a girl "promising to do your best"? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 Happy Thanksgiving!
  9. hops, Thanks! Great post! You got my tear ducts going! A Blessed Thanksgiving to upi and yours. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  10. dsteele, Thanks for clearing that up. That's what I thought the procedure was for removing Scouts & adults. Have a great Thanksgiving! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  11. WOW! Great question! The only thing I can think of would be if a Scout was convicted of a crime. I am curious what others post. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  12. There is a handicapped basketball team named the Steel Wheelers! A blessed Thanksgiving to all!
  13. "Ponder this question. WWJD?" Hate the sin but love the sinner. And if the sinner never repented his sin, the kingdom of heaven would be closed to him. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  14. "but do you mean that you think it would be OK for a church to use uniformed scouts in this way?" I'd say no regardless if it is being done or not, but that is just my opinion. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  15. Like Bob posted, we need more details. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  16. I'm with OGE on this one. If he is the father, then there is no way he is living the Scout Oath & Law in his everyday life. And he is definitly not the type of role model I would want other Scouts following. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  17. Good examples Korea & dsteele, Fat Old Guy makes a great point, too! To me it sort of definine what is acceptable behavior. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  18. You'd be suprised the quality of pants you can buy for $12.50! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  19. This was brought up in another thread. What do you feel constitutes misuse of the BSA program? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  20. 1 weekend per month plus summer camp. Between 25 - 30 nights. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  21. I have never heard of this. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  22. DS, I agree that black pants aren't part of the uniform. But what I got from hotdesks' post is not all the Scouts have uniform pants and all he was doing was setting a standard for the Troop when it attends funerals. Sure they should be wearing the full uniform. But if they don't have it this seems like a good solution. Uniform also means the same. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  23. Fscouter, I do like the official BSA uniform. But from what I got out of hotdesk' post was not all the Scouts in his unit have the BSA pants. So he choose different pants. Remember we are supposed to wear the uniform correctly as possible. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  24. dan, They are one in the same. Following is following. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
  25. hotdesk, Excellent choices. The only two offical BSA uniform pieces you are requiring are the shirt & sash. You guys should look good and uniform. Bob, I suggest you re-read hotdesks' last post. Nowhere did he state he was setting official BSA uniform standards. And you didn't include his entire post. All he is doing is setting Troop uniforming standards for these type of situations. Once again you assumed wrong. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
