molscouter, Exactly my point! Who cares about a bunch of religious organizations no one ever heard of! The BSA is getting their merit badges sued off by everyone else! We'd better get on the band wagon! What a crock! The BSA violated nothing. The ACLU is forcing the city of San Diego to violate the BSA's rights by forcing them to pay higher rent while there are other groups who get the same breaks the BSA got & they aren't forcing those groups to pay higher rates! My point, Merlyn, is if the BSA lease is illegal, then those leases to religious organizations are also illegal! The ACLU has chosen to attack th BSA & not the other groups ergo selective prosecution! BTW, I don't agree that the BSA lease or any similar lease to other religious organizations IS illegal. Merlyn, What I meant was the ACLU decided to take up this case against the BSA. They very well could have filed against any other group that has a similar lease. Most of the groups listed are religious & according to you the church & state must be separate so these groups should have their leases revoked, too! What you fail to understand is the BSA has spent a lot of money improving & maintaining their section of the park and in return receive reduced rent! By revoking the lease, the city of San Diego will be responsible to pay for the ongoing improvements & maintenance thereby incurring a greater burden on the taxpayers! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

I was my son's Cubmaster & Scoutmaster. I didn't treat him any differently than I did the other kids. He had to follow & lead the was the others did. When we were Scouting, he was just another Scout. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

I agree that requiring a scout to have uniform pants to advance is a violation of the BSA advancement policies, but requiring him to be in as complete and correct uniform as possible is IN the policies. So if a Scout has no uniform, that's ok! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

When I was a Cubmaster, we got a Steeler to speak. He was very good & the kids loved him. We have also had a local karate school give a demo. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Oak poles are good but heavy & cumbersome to haul. You can buy inexpensive tarps. It's the poles that cost $$$$$. I would buy one set of poles (6 and a ridge) for a tarp & work on getting more from there. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)

At what point will the scout be allowed to earn or not earn the Eagle rank based on his own efforts, and his own decisions? I think based on his efforts & decisions the Scout himself has determined his own path. His efforts (as posted) are minimal & his decisions (as posted) are poor. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

I think the issue is respect - respect for the flag. Was the way the flag displayed on Kid Rock disrespectful? Did Kid Rock treat the flag with disrespect? Do people who wear flag clothing do it to be disrespectful? Remember, our USA Olympic team has had flag jackets! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Welcome Troop65! Sounds like this kid wants the fruits of the labor without the labor. I would sit him down & find out why he wants his Eagle & also if he thinks he has earned it! Not deserves it, earned it. As far as the requirements, has he had a position of responsibility since he became a Life Scout? If not, then he hasn't met one of the requirements for Eagle. And if he is unwilling to hold a position of responsibility then, oh well! No Eagle! Remember, we can't add or subtract from the requirements. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
