Merlyn, You should be really angry with this decision! The state can now discriminate against the Boy Scouts therefore denying them their 1st Amendment rights! Mark, The only thing I can think is "WOW"! What a disaster! If this happened on one of my Troop's camping trips, the fire bugs would have gone home, everyone MUST attend mass & the Scout or Scouts who lied about harming the live tree would have also gone home. This might have only left 1 or 2 Scouts but I think the point would have been made that this type of behavior is NOT acceptable and WILL NOT be tolerated. It's like a double whammy that this happened while the Webeloes were there. Not a very good example. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

We have held camporees and the Cubs have had a camporee at the same camp. The Cubs was a one day event on Saturday. One of their stations is usually visiting one of the Troop campsites. Works out well. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

The District Award of Merit & Silver Beavers are kept secret. I think the element of suprise adds to the award. Especially these two! When I received mine (DAM & SB) I was totally suprised. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

eamonn, I agree that not all dens would be able to go camping and that would not be fair, but what does fair have to do with safety? The dens that have the ability to go camping should be able to. And based on the G2SS, a Bear den would not be able to attend summer camp unless the entire pack went! Sure it's the rule & must be followed. packsaddle, My purpose to starting this thread was to point out that one poster doesn't like the tactics of another poster yet uses the same tactics himself. I have always said "If you can't take it, don't give it" Then I was forced to defend myself. Sorry if you were offended in any way. Advance On brings up a great point! But the counselor should be up on the changes & know what they are. Meritbadge.com is an excellent resource and the requirements book usually has the current requirements. I am suprised, Advanace On, that our Scout Shop didn't have the new books. Well Bob, You started the thread "Let's Play Unit Commissioner" would lead one to believe these units were hypothetical. A poster asked you if you knew of actual units that were in these circumstances and you responded "I'm sure anyone who has spent any amount of time in commissioner service has seen units such as these." Again this response would lead one to believes these units were hypothetical. You later posted "I never said these troops were hypothetical" Another poster (Fat Old Guy) then posted "So, since they aren't a specific unit, it is a made up situation. Still looks hypothetical from this part of the bleachers." which you never refuted. Truth challenged? Don't think you know the meaning of either word, sir.
