I see a commonality - all three words begin with G!

Well, Bob, since you are so hep on using the tools available on this site, I suggest you start using the spell checker. You can squelch anyone you want. But you are the one who is missing out on valuable posts & information. Someone please tell Bob this is here since he has squelched me. Thanks Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Why does Bob White incur my wrath? Because of his "holier than thou", "I'm always right", "Don't question anything the BSA does" attitude. I know people have squelched me. Their loss. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Laurie, By good I meant interesting. Pack, I think Terry booted him when we had out 48 hour sabbatical from this forum. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

My bad, Fat Old Guy. You have been squelched by Bob as have I. It is within his right to do so. But to post "Isn't that the purpose of squelch, to be able to concentrate on the scouting topics without the distraction of posts that too often attack people rather than subjects?" isn't true. When you squelch a poster you squelch ALL posts, not just the ones you don't like. And that is judging the poster by saying "All his/her posts are useless." Heck, even Wheeler had some good posts! This type of language sometime become so common for some people they don't realize they are using it. If you can't get him to stop, I would follow Bob White's suggestion - get the COR involved. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Mrs. Smith, Please tell us a little about yourself so we might be able to understand better where you are coming from. Thanks Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Zahanda, If people want to use the squelch then that is their right. I have no problem with that. Bob, I kinda thought using the "Send Private Message" meant it was between the sender & the sendee! Guess not in your case. I consider you mentioning this as un-Scoutlike and uncalled for. I have never nor will I ever reveal the contents of a PM. I will not stoop to your level. Someone please tell Bob this is here. I don't want to PM him again! The purpose of squelch is to not see the posts of a particular poster regardless of the content. mk9750, Yeah I can understand why Bob would squelch Fat Old Guy. But then again, both are adults & should have better discernment. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Mrs. Smith, You asked "evmori, you usually sign your posts with a Bible verse (1 Peter 4:10) Why?" Have you ever read this verse? "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve other's, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." (NIV) This is my favorite verse & how I try to live my life. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

What is everyone's opinion of this option? Someone please pass this along to those who have squelched me. I don't like it. There are some poster I would squelch but if I did, there are parts of threads I would miss. And responding to a thread when you can't see all the replies is like driving without mirrors. I think it is a feature that should be removed. If you don't like a particular poster, don't read their posts. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

I am in the same camp with KS & Eamonn.

NeilLup, Excellent post! I would concur. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

BW has NEVER said to give a scout a leadership position because he needs it. Maybe he never said it but he has inferred it. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Jesus is the best example of servant leadership ever! And He is still alive! Fat Old Guy makes a good point about not being allowed to use the skills you have been taught. Think about teaching Scouts knots. They need to learn some for their rank advancement. And if they don't have the chance to use them they usually forget the skill! Scouts shouldn't be rotated through leadership positions because they "need one for rank". Scouts should get leadership positions because they deserve them. I know Bob won't see this since he has me squelched, which I think is a bad feature to this forum, but that's another discussion, but I don't think he would agree with me. I think he feels Scouts should have leadership positions because they need them. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

There is nothing wrong with servant leadership. Actually, servant leadership is biblical. While Bob's statement of "The real leader is the one who serves others" is simplistic it is accurate. I do, however, take umbrage at Bob White's use of a Bible passage to do nothing more than berate another Scouter. That's not what the Bible is meant for and that's how Christian's get a bad rap! Judge rules Fiesta Island lease unconstitutional, too

Oh, ED understands the law, but the judge doesn't?! Let's see. This judge has an agenda. I don't. This judge's judgment (hmm) is clouded by his agenda. Mine isn't because I have no agenda. I just applied common sense. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -

So all the good the BSA has done and would continue to do at NO COST TO THE TAXPAYERS should be tossed in the dumper? The lawsuit is costing the taxpayers money. The BSA's work in the park cost the taxpayers nothing. I know this is not about money but if the ACLU is going to side with a few disgruntled people against the BSA, everything should be considered. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
I, too, would like some more background. However, I do agree with Fat Old Guy. Revolving door leadership helps no one. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

I know what I don't understand! I don't understand the situation from you point of view! That's it! Glad I figured that out. (This message has been edited by evmori) -
How about ceremonies! Planning Pack Ceremonies. Planning Troop Ceremonies.

Here's what I understand. > The BSA put $2 million dollars into the park. > The BSA put many hours into the park to maintain it. > The BSA is required to pay the cost of operation and maintenance. And for this the BSA doesn't pay to use the land. What's the problem? Oh wait! I know! The BSA requires a belief in God to be a member. So that means the ACLU is going after them because a couple people who don't believe in God couldn't join & decided to sue because the BSA getting "special treatment" was a violation of the separation of church & state! I'm still looking for that one! What don't I understand Merlyn? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
