    Medications

We keep all medications locked up and an ASM is responsible them. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  2. Do some people get more than one background check? Probably but so what? Background checks aren't cheap & if a council is paying twice for some of theses that is spending money that could be used elsewhere. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  3. No Eamonn that's not what I am saying. There are usually 2 cell phones owned by the adults in camp. They are used for emergencies only. We also bring walkie talkies for communication purposes. Are we as adults breaking the rules? Good question. I will have to look at my camp package when I get home & see if it addresses the Scout specifically. I'll let you know. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  4. We attend Heritage Reservation for summer camp. The camp itself prohibits electronic devices. While cell phone are not listed they are electronic devices and we list them on our "Do Not Bring to Camp" list. The adults have a couple with them & there are two pay phones in camp. There is really no need for a Scout to have a cell phone at camp. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  5. Technically, it is the SM's responsibility to do all SM conferences. However, he/she can assign this duty to a qualified ASM. When I was SM, I always looked forward to doing these conferences. However, when my own son was ready for a SM conference, I had an ASM handle the task. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  6. Never had to fill out a registration form to be a merit badge counselor! There is a separate form for that! Sound like your council is trying to get background checks done on all its membership instead of just the new people. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  7. Bob White is absolutely correct. Letters of reference are not required. What is required is that references be supplied by the Eagle candidate and it is then up to the District Advancement Committee to get the references. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  8. eisley, I think it is bad press. But the up-side is the way the BSA deals with it. If found guilty, then membership should be revoked. Until a determination is made, the prudent thing to do would be to sort of give hims a "leave of absence". Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  9. Minimal facts have been given. Regardless of the outcome, it is bad press for the BSA. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  10. acco40, I'm not saying one can live a sin-free life. What I as saying is if one continues to sin & never asks for forgiveness for those sins one will go he**. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  11. Achilleez, So you think you can live a life of sin & still go to heaven? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  12. Do you imply that anyone that doesn't believe this or accept this as fact should not be in scouting? No I am not implying that or anything like that. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  13. Achilleez, Yes it is! If one doesn't repent from one's sins then one will spend eternity in hell. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  14. NW, It is also possible that this one just slipped through the cracks! It is possible this Scout was appointed by the PL! While I don't want to see a Scout denied something he has earned, by lying or changing the facts to satisfy a requirement is just wrong. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the requirement say participate in a SM Conference not PASS a SM Conference? Sounds like this Scout participated in a SM Conference & by the SM not signing off because he wants the Scout to be more assertive is adding to the requirements which isn't allowed! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  16. I take no comfort whatsoever in the idea that people are damned to hell for all eternity. It is that exact sort of mentality that made me leave the church a long time ago. You might not take comfort in this but it is a fact & any church sugar coating this is doing a great disservice to it's members. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  17. Do we have posters suggesting the SM say it was a SM project even if it wasn't? The list of POR's is also in the Boy Scout Handbook so it seems everyone is at fault! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  18. What Fat Old Guy said!
  19. Unless he held another POR that can be used for rank, the answer is "YES". Do you use Troopmaster to track advancement? If so, a flag would have gone up when this Scout was advanced in the software. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  20. I would agree with EagleInKY on #1 & #3 of his original post. However, a requiring a Scout to be in uniform for his BOR would be adding to the requirements since the BSA doesn't require a uniform for membership. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  21. I'm a counselor for the Sports merit badge but I don't go watch every scout play in their chosen sports Fat Old Guy, But do you take a 3rd party (parents, friends, etc.) word that a Scout has completed the requirement or do you talk to the Scout? Bob is missing the point. The COR IS NOT talking to the Scout, just taking mom's word the Scout has completed the requirement. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  22. acco40, Huh? I really don't want to take this thread to a religious discussion we have had in the past so I will make the assumption you question are rhetorical. And, Merlyn, based on #4 in Scouter Paul's last post, if there is no God, how do you explain why we are here? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  23. What I get from this is the COR is taking the Scout's mother's word that he has completed all the requirements??? If this is true, even if the COR was a registered MB counselor for this badge, she still must meet the BSA requirements! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  24. One definition of fact is "Something believed to be true or real". God fits this deifnition. Your turn. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  25. Merlyn, I suppose you have proof God doesn't exist? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
