  1. Stars.... ohhh the pain! I'm like Sgt. Schultz "I know nothing"!
  2. Trail Pounder, You gotta explain that last post! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  3. Excellent observation, Hops! These morons should be glad the cops showed up when they did so that nothing REALLY BAD did happen! Like one of these bozos getting in a car & driving! I hope they throw the book at the parents! What a terrible example they are to their son! Kinda makes you wonder if this Scout deserved his Eagle! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  4. On page 12 and 13 of the BSHB, it describes the complete official uniform and says "wear full uniforms for all ceremonial and indoor activities, such as troop meetings, courts of honor, and most other indoor functions." I like the uniform & wear min to all Scouting activities. That being said the fact still remains that the BSA doesn't require anyone to wear a uniform to be a member. Therefore any unit requiring their Scout or leaders to be in full uniform (mine included) are adding to the requirements! Example Johnny Tenderfoot shows up for his BOR in a tee shirt & shorts. The SM tells Johnny Tenderfoot he can't have his BOR because his is not in full uniform. Being in full uniform isn't a requirement for ANY rank! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  5. In my district, the Activities Committee is in charge of camporees. They usually recruit Troops who plan the Camporees. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  6. And since the BSA doesn't require a uniform any unit including mine that requires a uniform is adding to the requirements. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  7. SR540Beaver, No they don't. For COR's they wear dress pants & shoes. For BOR's they usually wear blue jeans. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  8. My Troop only requires the uniform shirt for the Scouts. We also have a Troop neckerchief. We do require full uniform for the adults. And since the BSA doesn't require a uniform at all, each unit can do what they want! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  9. This is an excellent thread! But one question still remains unanswered. Where in the great writings of the BSA is it written: You are required to disagree in a constructive manner through the channels that exist in the BSA where your concerns can be addressed. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  10. Even though there is nothing in writing regarding disagreeing with the BSA, Bob White is correct! So it follows that if you disagree with Bob White you disagree with the BSA! I think not~ Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  11. "Specifically, where does it say that if you disagree, it must be in a "constructive manner" and "through the channels that exist in the BSA where your concerns can be addressed?" And where is the term "constructive manner" defined?" I don't know that it is. As you will note the information was not in quotes and did not contain a specific reference, but was in my own words. I tried to convey the situation as clearly as I could so that all could comprehend it. I am sorry if I was not clear enough for you. Hmmm, from the original post 2. You are required to disagree in a constructive manner through the channels that exist in the BSA where your concerns can be addressed. it sounds like if we disagree with BSA policy we can't post our disagreement here or talk about it in groups, etc. according to Mr. White. So I guess all of us who disagree with the smallest BSA policy and have posted it here should be kick out of Scouting? Someone please tell Mr. White this is here since he has squelched my posts. I would send him a PM regarding this but as I stated in another thread I refuse since he posted what I sent him in a PM on this board. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  12. I didn't know I was required to disagree when I signed up! That's news to me! I do know I am required to follow the rules. And does that also mean since I am required to disagree if I don't I can have my membership revoked? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  13. Hunt, I understand where you are coming from. If a MB counselor is already registered in another position why do they have to register again? Right? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  14. EagleInKY, I never said it did! I said it doesn't encourage it! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  15. As BSA members, we need to follow the policies. We don't have to agree with each & every one! I know I don't & I'm sure there are many other posters here who don't! Just because we don't agree with all the policies means we can't be members! If there are policies that we think should be changed we should try to get them changed. Until we do, they must be followed. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

    Medications

scoutldr, Sure we can agree to quit arguing once we agree. The only problem is not everyone can read all the posts in a thread! Owl62, I think the part about transferring this drug to another person means you can't give me your prescription to take, not hold on to. Read a little further in the G2SS under Prescriptions. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  17. Webmaster could be used as a POR as long as it's a SM assigned project! However, the BSA doesn't encourage Scouts to be Webmasters for Troops. See this link. http://www.scouting.org/webmasters/units.html Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  18. Rooster7, As always, excellent post! I would concur. boleta, It really makes no difference if the Scout's religion violates my idea of acceptable belief as long as it doesn't violate the BSA's idea of accepted belief. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)(This message has been edited by evmori)
  19. twocub, I would agree with your statement. Bob, If you mean did councils have units with black Scouts yes. If you mean were there units with both black & white Scouts, very few. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  20. The big deal is the info they are asking for is already ON file!
  21. It's redundant! The leader info is on file for those who were in the system prior to the mandate! Just do background checks on the info in the current system! Why force people to re-fill out applications? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  22. Hunt, If the BSA says so, then it must be right! At least in BW's eyes! He follows whatever the BSA says blindly! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  23. NJ, I would concur that the BSA is NOT ahead of the curve. If anything, they are behind the curve. It seems , like other organizations, no societal changes are made unless they have to be i.e. lawsuits, etc. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

    Medications

On the other hand, what the G2SS does in effect is remove the unit leader from the handling of prescription medications, and puts the responsibility into the hands of the Scout and his parents/guardians. BSA does not require, request, suggest or support the unit leader handling prescription medications. These are not true statement. The G2SS reads: Prescriptions The taking of prescription medication is the responsibility of the individual taking the medication and/or that individual's parent or guardian. A Scout leader, after obtaining all the necessary information, can agree to accept the responsibility of making sure a Scout takes the necessary medication at the appropriate time, but BSA policy does not mandate nor necessarily encourage the Scout leader to do so. Also, if your state laws are more limiting, they must be followed. This is not in bold type in the G2SS. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  25. Eamonn, We probably are making a mountain out of a molehill. At Heritage, there are very few place with cell phone reception. The payphones are much better! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
