  1. To answer your question, Marlene, for me there were two - Scoutmaster Fundamentals & Woodbadge. Both were fantastic & I learned tons! The format was in the outdoors with a lot of hands on! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  2. I know this is off topic but I have to post this! "I also agree with the thread being closed. To voice sympathy for the Scout, his friends and family, is one thing. To sit at a PC and look at a super-miniature quad map and publicly hypothocize the many tragic ends that could have befallen this lad, and assume places the trained rescue teams missed looking at or thinking about, is IMHO very poor taste." Bob, You posted suggestions as to where the lad might be! Talk about talking out of both sides of your mouth! Make up your mind, man! Sorry. I now return you to your regular topic. I don't agree with closing the thread. Any & all help is needed! The search team is second-guessing so why can't we? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  3. hops, I agree completely with PNScouter. Please re-open the thread. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  4. I saw this twice in the theater. Once with my wife & once with my daughter. Both times I was very moved. I wouldn't let an 8 year old watch this movie. The violence is too graphic. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  5. If he was taken by an animal, there should be some trace, but I would not rules that out either. I say drag the lake.
  6. It is STILL possible he went back TOWARD the lake. Remember, think like a 12 year old!
  7. I would agree with le Voyageur. Has anyone checked the lake????? 12 year old's love the water! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  8. Fuzzy, Excellent summary! Eamonn, One doesn't get into heaven by works alone, but that's a whole other can of worms! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  9. SR540Beaver, The council knows all the information you questioned because it is on the campership form. And if they have any questions, they can contact the Scout or his parents or someone from his unit. If a unit chooses to have a fundraiser other than popcorn, that is their option. We do sell popcorn but hold another fundraiser to help out. Popcorn isn't a great moneymaker for the unit. There are hundreds of other fundraisers that can generate more profit for a unit. And I know of nothing that states fundraising MUST help out the council. Is it a nice thing to do? Sure. So is donating materials, time and labor to Scouting projects for council. Uncleguinea, The money comes from a wide variety of sources. Corporate donations, private donations, FOS, popcorn, etc. The free labor comes mainly from one source - Scouts & Scouter's. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  10. "No one said that they would NOT get any cash when requesting a campership. But if funds are tight and it comes down to a request from a troop that supports the financial needs of the council over a troop that doesn't, I'm sure some decision making comes into play." And the campership should go to the Scout that needs it the most! Who sold popcorn should have nothing to do with it! It should be based on the need of the Scout! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  11. "However I do know for a fact that Scouts who sell popcorn are seen in a more favorable light when Camperships are given." Political! Sell or be put at the bottom of the list. "Why should a troop who is unwilling to support the council's financial needs and goals expect a free hand out from the council." What if that Troop is at every Beaver Day & every work day? That is also support and most of the time, more important than the monetary kind. I don't like welfare! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  12. Not sure I like the idea of those who participate in the popcorn sale getting preferential treatment when it comes to camperships. Seems a little political to me which isn't a good thing. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  13. I wish my council did this! We didn't get our charter until July! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  14. Troop attention! Hand salute! "I pledge .............
  15. Any school means any school! Seems pretty simple to me and a decent project, too! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  16. I would take your own photos. Using the ones in other publications might have copyright repercussions. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  17. This isn't rocket science! We must use common sense! This leader violated BSA rules & regs as well as local laws! This in no way should be tolerated! Regardless of what the Camp Director or SE do we as leaders need to ensure this never happens again! And if that means having the offender arrested, then so be it! We are responsible for other peoples kids! They put them in our trust and care! Let's do our jobs! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  18. Sounds like someone with an agenda! I boy out of how many?????? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  19. This guy should have been sobered up then promptly escorted from camp. This is a direct violation of BSA policy & in no way should be tolerated. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  20. Now that's what I call proof! Thanks Terry.
  21. Yaworski was also Zorn Packte who was also [bobWhite's real name] who was also temp_changed who was also Fat Old Guy. Now Fog is posting as Yaworski again. And you know this for a fact?
