    Nope NJ, I meant castrate.

    Atheism

I agree acco. The thing that really chaps my shorts about Merlyn's argument is the culpability is on both sides - the BSA for offering the charter and the government agency for entering into it. Yet Merlyn castrates the BSA and does nothing to the government agency.
  4. BadenP, I don't need to do that since I know my Force is much stronger and will always prevail.
  5. Sorry to disappoint you BadenP but that ain't gonna happen with me.
  6. OK! Whoever posted that atheists don't have rights raise their hand. That's what I thought! Atheists have the same rights as the Presbyterians & the Wiccans & the Catholics & the Seventh Day Adventists & the Mormons and everyone else. But that doesn't mean they have the right to join ANY private organization. If ANYONE does not meet the guidelines of ANY private organization, they will be denied membership. That is not infringing on ANYONE's rights. And a school allowing a BSA unit to meet in their building is not infringing on ANYONE's rights!
  7. Sure can. A Scout can get all his cooking requirements done at once if he so desires.
  8. What I got was this SM has his own agenda & if you don't do things his way, you are out regardless if his way is the correct way or not. I'd be looking for a new unit.
  9. It seems there is a little more to the story than we have been told. The new form states Risk Factors Based on the vast experience of the medical community, the BSA has identified that the following risk factors may define your participation in various outdoor adventures. Excessive body weight Heart disease Hypertension (high blood pressure) Diabetes Seizures Lack of appropriate immunizations Asthma Sleep disorders Allergies/anaphylaxis Muscular/skeletal injuries Psychiatric/psychological and emotional difficulties Nothing about being underweight. I go agree with Gonzo that the boy should be able to carry his own pack.
  10. You are fighting a losing battle Beavah. Merlyn will never fess up! It's just like his list of public schools he published awhile back that included private schools that he never bothered to correct. Merlyn's tactics - yell & scream louder and longer than anyone else and you will get your way be it right or wrong.
  11. Gotta disagree Josh. Being "bossy and pushy at times" is not part of leadership, it is part of management. It is part of leadership. Sometimes that's what it takes. A good leader will know when being bossy and pushy is needed and when it isn't. The key is knowing the difference.
  12. The rub here is the way the BSA charters units as to Merlyn's reasoning why public schools can't charter BSA units. But when it comes to another group chartering a BSA unit and asking a public school for meeting space, the school can't deny the request unless it denies all groups that have membership policies meeting space.
  13. Note sure about that one Merlyn. Got examples?
  14. It over a year! SCOTUS appeals don't take this long!
  15. Not necessarily Merlyn. If a BSA unit is charted by the public school PTA, they have just as much a right to meet at the public school as any other group.
  16. Very interesting. It would appear all we have here is a messy divorce and someone not getting their way.
  17. Well, NJ, Merlyn seems to be saying that not all groups can meet in a public school which just ain't true! That's what my post was concerning. No name calling just refuting what was posted.
  18. Getting confused again I see! Any group can meet at a public school. The rub with the BSA is the charter is owned by the school.
  19. studentscout, My "baiting" response was to Exibar's post asking "How do I feel?" I'm a pretty black and white person, studentscout. I post what I mean. And I don't bait.
  20. It's all about perspective vol_scouter! Just like that portion of the article I posted.
  21. From a top down organizational chart perspective, the CC is a direct report to the COR and the SM is a direct report to the CC.
