  1. Yup he should be able to recite it from memory. But in reality, that doesn't happen all that often. And once the WEBELOS has been awarded the AOL and crossed over to Boy Scouts, there is nothing you can do about it. Wait! Yes there is something you can do about it! Help your new Scout memorize and live the Scout Oath and Law in his everyday life.
  2. Usually no news is good news but in this case no news indicates there never was any news. Sorry folks, a note from your fiendly moderator - the forum does not have the resources to support continuing posts this topic. Open a new topic if there is anything of value remaining to be said. 3. No, Ed; it's OK for tax dollars to support religious freedom for everyone, and to support things for public purposes. Isn't building a religious anything with taxpayer dollars endorsing a specific religion? And what is the difference between building foot baths for Muslims and placing a Nativity display on the courthouse steps? All this spinning is making me tired. I'm going to bed.
  4. So it's OK for our tax dollars to support religious freedom for Muslims but not it's not OK for our tax dollars to support the BSA? In the 5+ decades I have been on this earth, I have never seen anyone wash their feet in the sink of any restroom. And I'll bet you could say the same thing Merlyn. These foot baths were built so Muslims could religiously wash their feet. Sounds like this is a direct endorsement of a specific religion. Yeah I know you are gonna toss out the hygiene line. Go ahead. That's nothing more than a poor excuse to directly support a religion. Diaper changing tables have been in rest rooms for decades. Not even a bad comparison! Like I said, I'm not the one with a learning problem.(This message has been edited by evmori)
  5. Fat drunk and stupid is now way to go through life son
  6. Seems I'm not the one with the learning problem. Muslims wanted the foot washing sinks installed so they could comply with their religious needs. The public school obliged and installed them. Sure anyone can use them but they were installed for a specific religion not the general public.
  7. Public schools can install floor sinks for whatever reason? Even it the reason they are installed if do Muslims can wash their feet?
  8. And I guessing, Merlyn, you think the extra training and experience the armed forces got out of setting up and running and tearing down for Jamboree was a bad thing. Would you rather see your tax dollars spent building foot baths for Muslims?
  9. Close your Pack account and move it to another bank. Contact your DE and explain what has been going on. The Pack NEVER, I repeat NEVER reports to ANY Troop. They are separate entities even within the same CO.
  10. Why in da world would you stop da BOR? Seems like a waste Because the Scout has not completed all the requirements for rank. Teaching point. If ya ain't finished, ya can't get credit for finishing.
  11. Ah but this BOR was for rank advancement and as soon as the fact came to light that the Scout hadn't completed all the requirements, the BOR should have been stopped and the Scout told to reschedule when he had completed all the requirements. My prior question was a little misleading. I know you can hold a BOR for other reasons. Sorry about that. Ed
  12. Respect is earned. Don't expect respect as soon as you finish sewing on your Scoutmaster patch. The best way to earn respect - give it.
  13. Why would you hold a BOR if a Scout hasn't completed the requirements for rank?
  14. More holier-than-thou poseurs who denigrate the rights of atheists - yawn. More holier-than-thou poseur who denigrates the rights of non-atheists - yawn.
  15. Chores? What chores? These are Cub Scouts not Boy Scouts. While the boys should be helping out, it is really up to the adults to do the chores. Yes the boys should be involved but not to the point where you give a group a chore & walk away. The adults should be showing and helping the boys with these chores.
  16. Your attempts to get Merlyn involved are admirable Beavah, but I wouldn't count on Merlyn taking you up on your offers. If he did, he would actually have to get involved and that's not going to happen.
  17. Yeah, the halcyon days when whites-only public swimming pools (paid for by everyone) were common, and lesser citizens knew their place, eh skeptic? I'm not speaking for skeptic, Merlyn, but no. When your word was your bond.
  18. I've had kids like this in a unit! We all have. How do you deal with them? I don't feel punishment is the answer. Remember you are dealing with young kids who need supervision. What might work is having a male adult work with this boy on stuff. What do I mean by stuff? Anything he does in the Den. Sounds like he needs a guy in his life. I would also ratchet down the attention he gets when he pulls stuff.
  19. Well, what if it is a watercolor of St Peter's in Rome? About the foot baths, your argument seems a little flimsy, Merlyn. If the foot baths were built in a public school with public funds for Muslims, it really makes no difference why they were built or who uses them. They were built for a specific religion and that is endorsing a religion.
  20. Defend all you want NJ. Beavah isn't the troll.
  21. Without specifics it's all speculation but the BSA can kick anyone out for any reason.
  22. Merlyn responds Correct Ed, just don't confuse sinks that anyone can use with sinks reserved for Muslims. to 1) public schools can't practice religious discrimination Based on this statement, a public school installing Muslim foot baths or hiring a Muslim cleric to lead prayers for Muslims, all with tax dollars, would be the same as chartering a BSA unit. Ah, but if the main purpose of these sinks is for a specific religion to practice their religion, isn't the government endorsing that religion?

I don't own a gun OGE nor would I ever shoot you. Say I shot you is a fact. Saying NJ shot you is a fact.
