21st Century Wood Badge Participants- Reflection
evmori replied to Eamonn's topic in Wood Badge and adult leader training
How sad! Someone needs to lighten up a bit! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 I use to be an Eagle .... -
Is God all Knowing or is he flawed? God is all knowing. God is perfect. Humans are neither. Do you believe in Free Will? Yes I do. God gave us free will. And by having free will we can choose to sin or choose not to sin. But just because God gave us free will doesn't mean He condones sin. God gave us free will because He doesn't want blind faith. Bottom line - An atheist doesn't meet the membership requirements of the BSA therefore an atheist cannot be a member (youth or adult) of the BSA. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

We had the same problem awhile ago. We just told the PLC the dates of the annual camporees before they did their annual calendar. The PLC was told the camporees would be attended by the Troop & if they wanted to schedule another camping trip in the same month that was up to them. The Scouts had a great time at the camporees & continue to attend. Sometimes all they need is a push. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

He technically won't start the next grade until next fall so I wouldn't see a problem. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

The topic is: What would you do if Reverent was changed to Thoughtful, if atheists and homosexual adults who passed background checks and the youth protection program, were allowed to be a part of the BSA? I would put all my Scouting stuff in a box & mail it to Irving. In other words, I would no longer be part of the BSA because I don't feel atheists & homosexuals are good role models for young boys. I actually feel they are morally bankrupt. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Bald Eagle, Welcome to the forums. A Scout in my Troop was very similar to your son. His dad (not an Eagle) is a uniformed leader in our Troop & his son wanted to quit. His dad told him if he quits, he has to replace Scouts with another activity or a job. And watching TV & playing video games or surfing on the computer didn't count as activity. This boy earned his Eagle! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

I say we line up all the people in Scouting who use the terms "Class A" & "Class B" uniforms & beat them with a wet noodle. These might not be "official" BSA terms, but they are terms understood by many in Scouting. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Just found the following on a Council website in their summer camp leader's guide. Scouts should travel to camp in their Class A uniform. No description of what a Class "A" is so apparently the units know what a Class "A" uniform is. Class B uniform including Scout socks, shorts, and Scouting related Tee-shirt, is the preferred dress during the day and for flag raising and breakfast. Sounds like a description of a Class "B" uniform What to Bring to Camp Suggested Individual Items Official Scout uniform of your Troop Not the Official Scout uniform but the Official uniform of your Troop. Sort of implies each Troop has a uniforming option. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Back to the tuna thing. Since it is illegal to catch dolphin with tuna that would be a "National" policy. Now if the local council decided to sell tuna that went against the "National" policy, that wouldn't be a local option. That would be a direct violation of policy. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

WOW. Tough trip. You in no way let these Scout down. And as far as guilt goes, the 10 in the rec room are the guilty ones. Now I don't mean each & every one broke into the machine. But they were all present. And by none of them fessing up to anything, they are all guilty. I would continue outings with the four Scouts not present during this incident. I would not let the others go until the incident is resolved. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

dug, I don't think Christians would be up in arms if Muslims or any other religion had a show on television. If we (Christians) don't want to watch it, we change the channel! It seems to me the atheists (you) are more concerned with the elimination of religion from public life than Christians are with atheists. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Thanks for finally answering, Bob. Although I would be curious to see you answer if you HAD to choose one or the other. Think I'll have a waffle for breakfast. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)

This is really a simple question. Everyone is making it more complicated by reading into it. It's either one or the other or neither! Bob, which for you? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

dug, I really would not have a problem with that as long as I would have the same opportunity. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

A Webelos II who won't earn his Arrow of Light...

Someone told me once after I became involved in Scouting you can only be there for the ones that are they. If they don't show up, you can't make 'em! Sounds like you did everything possible & sounds like you have excellent documentation of all your efforts. Don't lose it! You might need it! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
dug, I would!

OGE, If you are going to lock this thread I would suggest it be after Bob answers his own question. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Bob, Why do you refuse to answer your own question? I think we all would like you take on this. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

OGE, Yeah I know. But ya gotta admit, there are times when his posts are down right impossible to read! And I was actually responding to the stapler guy's post! Bob, Sorry for the shot. I meant no disrespect. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Bob, Why do you refuse to answer your own question? Stop berating the other posters & give us you answer! I for one am waiting with great anticipation. As far as the spelling goes, there is a spell checker for Internet Explorer. Google ieSpell & download the program. You will need to restart IE but then you will be able to spell check all posts prior to submitting them. And it does check the subject line. Bob, you really need this tool. There are times your posts are almost impossible to read. And since you want to really get your point across with authority, spelling is extra important. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

OGE, I've been busy & been sticking to this forum. Trevorum, It seems others have expressed what I planned to express. There is no proof being homosexual is not a lifestyle. And until there is, I stand by my original post. C'mon Bob! Inquiring minds want to know your answer to your question! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
