The only thing that keeps any individual from following the BSA program and having a successful unit is the attitude they bring to the position more so than the aptitude. Another interesting statement! So training has nothing to do with running a successful unit. I'll bet all the district & council & national training chairs would disagree. Send a bad leader to training and more often than not you will get back a trained bad leader. This is a interesting statement. While I am sure this does happen, I thought one of the ideas of training was to train bad leaders so they could become good leaders! If training bad leaders yields only trained bad leaders what is the point of sending them to training? We go to summer camp the 2nd week of July. Then we take the rest of July & all August off. We start up again right after Labor Day. How much is too much? That can be different for all people! One outing per month is definitely not too much. It seems kids today need a day-timer or PDA to not miss anything. Kids are over scheduled and don't have time to be kids! The summer camp we attend has a list of "do not bring to camp" items in the leaders guide. There is a variety of items on the list & there is good logic for each one. Scouts with electronics have no place at camp. Camping is one place where you can get away from it all! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Universal truths can also change. OGE mentioned one. Another would be the earth at one time was accepted as being flat. That was disproved and now a universal truth is the earth is round.
