  1. Go to the Grills & Stoves page. Do you see the Chef Camp Stove? Now go to the Camping Equipment page. It's there??? Same thing on the Cooking page. There are dutch ovens but the lid lifters are on the Camping page. The Coleman camping chair & the Crazy Creek chair are on the Sleeping page when they should be on the Camping or Miscellaneous page. It makes it hard & frustrating to find stuff. The hard copy catalog is confusing enough! Ditto hops! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

  4. Daughters are different. I love my girl to pieces but there are times she gets under my skin like a bad rash! My wife is always telling us we are so much alike! She really is a great kid!

  10. hacimsallk, Good point! Training, leadership development, mentoring, counseling, eating, sleeping, etc. All great! But if a Scout doesn't have the desire to succeed or thinks he is doing just fine all the training leadership development, mentoring, counseling, eating, sleeping, etc. won't help. Like I posted before, you can teach anyone anything. It's up to them to learn what they are being taught. With all the training & leadership development & mentoring & counseling & eating & sleeping, not every Scout will become a good leader. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

  13. You make it sound that unless you are a phenomenon then you are nothing. Missed the point again! I will restate! Not all Scouts will be good leaders. Just like not all quarterbacks will be good passers. We can teach anyone anything. Whether they learn is the key. Some will. Some won't. And it could be the teachers fault or it could be the learners fault or both could be at fault. But it isn't always the teachers fault. Since the BSA doesn't seem to have any method to remove a PL, I propose the PLC can remove a poor leader. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

  17. I gotta agree with Bob White on this. If you want to join, the BSA wants to check you out. And the information you must supply will be used to do that. If you don't want to disclose your SSN or drivers license # then you can't join. Simple. Sure there have been a lot of people who have had their identity stolen.   18. SR540Beaver, Gotta come to our campsite! Our new Coleman Drip Brewer make a great cup of joe! I'll save you a seat. I'll even supply the cup! packsaddle, Copy & paste! No coffee! There will be serious repercussions! When we go to summer camp, we have had a standing rule that the trading post & vending machines are off limits for pop & snacks until after dinner. Our logic is they get three meals a day that are more nutritious. Granted the food isn't gourmet but it isn't uneatable, either. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  19. "Leadership is a learned skill." Throwing a football is a learned skill. But not everyone can throw a football as well as Terry Bradshaw or Dan Marino or John Elway. Some do it better than others even with the same training. Leadership is no different. If a Scout doesn't have the want or ability to be a leader, all the training in the world is not going to make him a good leader. And that is not the fault of the SM or whoever else trained him. Actually, it's no ones fault! Not all boys are meant to be leaders. Since the BSA has no documented procedures for the removal of a PL, I would say how this is done can be different from Patrol to Patrol. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

  22. Maybe this patrol who is going fishing is the best patrol to set up an ax yard & the SPL was just utilizing his resources? They can go fishing after the ax yard is set up. Remember, the ax yard is just an example! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  23. One more comment & I will shut up till more youth post. Yeah not cut out to be leaders. Not every boy is leadership material. And no matter how much we as leaders "have an understanding of the scouting methods and of the skills of leadership" there are boys who will be bad leaders.
