  1. I would use what OGE posted. That makes the most sense. It sounds like this Scout got caught up in trading patches & his brain fell out. Ounce he picked it up & put it back in his head he realized what he had done and was remorseful. Gern, Give it a rest! Your posts have done nothing to further this discussion. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  2. I don't know much about the origin of the accordion but it sure seems like a good idea gone bad. The only thing that possibly sounds worse is one of those cheesy organs that had the cord buttons on them. Nasty noise! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  3. And that point would be .....................
  4. Push ups aren't hazing unless they are required for membership. The only thing push ups would teach is there are consequences for your actions. I have always been of the school "the punishment fits the crime". Creative ways of dealing with misbehavior are usually effective. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  5. Interesting quandary. A 15 year old drinking alcohol is breaking the law. And if he is buying it, he is breaking the law again. Trustworthy? I'd say not. And if mom & dad are the purchasers or suppliers of his alcohol, they, too, are breaking the law. I would hold him up until he decides to be trustworthy. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  6. Merlyn, Go troll somewhere else. Your constant attacks & baiting are getting old. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  7. Well, since Homosexuality is a choice, I figure anything people are born with which is different from the "norm" must be a choice I didn't know people were born with homosexuality! I thought it was a choice made after birth.
  8. I love my son. Does that make me a homosexual? I also love my wife? Does loving both a male & female make me bi-sexual? The answer to both is no. A homosexual is more than a man being in love with another man & a woman being in love with another woman. Are people born to smoke cigarettes? No. It's a choice. It's a lifestyle just like homosexuality. I have no proof, ronvo. And I'll bet you have no proof it isn't a choice. My opinion & your opinion. Something we are both entitled to. tj, Jesus didn't condemn all divorce. Read Matthew 19:9, 1Cor 7:11. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  9. So Hermaphrodites choose to be born in that condition, interesting concept And you came to this conclusion ..............
  10. OGE, Our tax dollars fund tons of things. If Planned Parenthood is one of them, so be it. I don't like Planned Parenthood but the only control you or I have over that is who we vote for. They are the ones spending our tax dollars. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  11. Sodom was condemned by God. Abram asked God if he would spare Sodom if there were 10 (the number started higher) righteous men found in Sodom. God said he would. God sent the angels in the form of men to see if there were 10 righteous men. The rest is history. There is nothing about forcible rape. The men of Sodom asked Lott to bring out the two men so they could have sex with them. That's not forcible rape. Lott offered his daughters as a sacrifice for these men, that's why he & his family was given a chance to flee the city before it was destroyed. That's not the main reason people read the passage as a condemnation of homosexuality. When you are reading the Bible, you need to read the whole thing not just the passages you want. Taken out of context, they loose their meaning. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  12. Ever read Genesis 19? The six verses you speak of do condemn homosexuality in any context. Read them again. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  13. A person who plays the piano is a piano player regardless of how well they play the piano. A person who plays basketball is a basketball player regardless of how well they play basketball. Talent (if realized & used) for the piano or basketball will result in a person being a better piano or basketball player than a person without talent. Homosexuality isn't a talent. It is a choice. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  14. I'll give you credit for a good argument, tj. I read the interpretations from your link. Nice spin but in no way do any of those passages endorse homosexuality nor do they have anything to do with homosexuality. Jesus said many things. Not all are written down in the bible. Read John 21:25. So to state because it isn't in the Bible means it's OK is wrong. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  15. I would agree the BSA is a private organization. And by being private doesn't prevent the BSA from accepting funding from public or government sources. I sorta equate it to professional athlete salaries. Most are over paid but if someone is willing to pay them that much, so be it. The same if a public or governmental source wants to fund the BSA. So be it. If another group is upset because it feels the BSA is a discriminatory agency then their beef is with the funder not the BSA. And an ACLU member calling the BSA dishonest is funny. Sorta like the pot calling the kettle black! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  16. So if the a branch of government (local, state or federal) donated money to BSA unit with no strings attached, the BSA unit would not be allowed to accept it? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  17. Th only thing it does teach is there are consequences for not following the rules.
  18. So it a school district wants to donate $$$ to the BSA they can't do it?(This message has been edited by evmori)
  19. If the BSA declares is a private organization, do they have to stop accepting funding from the government & other public sources? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  20. Ed, I think you missed his point by a mile. You can teach someone music, but not a talent. Talent is a gift, something born with, something on loan by God. He may be able to play music but would not be a musician. Do you see the point? I think I got the point. But are you saying being homosexual is the same a being born with talent? If so, I would disagree. If a person can play music, they are a musician regardless of their talent level. Same as a baseball player. Makes no difference how well he/she plays or what talent for the sport he/she has, he/she is still a baseball player. Talent isn't a loan, either. It is a gift. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  21. The most important to earn? The one the Scout is working on. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  22. Trails End popcorn has always been pricey. Now it is getting out of hand. There are many other fundraisers out there a unit could use & get a better return on, too. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  23. Musical talent & homosexuality are similar? Don't think so. I would say you can teach anyone anything you want & they will probably learn it. So if you want to say musical talent & homosexuality are similar because they can both be taught then I would agree. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
