  1. rkfrance, Physical abuse & underage drinking are two completely different things. If I suspected a Scout was being abused at home, I would notify the proper authorities. If I suspect a Scout was drinking underage, I would sit him down & talk about it. Reporting this to the SE is not the correct thing to do. Even if I was to report it, the SE is definitely not the person I would contact! He/She has nothing to do with it since this is occurring outside of Scouts. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  2. NJ, Please don't lump me in with Bob. Fred, It's humor. Nothing more. Just like everything else at deadbrain.com. Preserving the article really serves no purpose. Oh and thanks for the link. I now have it in my favorites! I love satire! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  3. While we have moronic parenting going on, it seems the underage drinking is occurring outside of Scouting. Therefore, getting the SE involved is not appropriate and the G2SS & YP don't apply to ones home life. These two documents are written for Scouting. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  4. Then, Fred, why did you post it? If you don't like satire, don't read it! Molehill meet the mountain!
  5. Bashing, attacking whatever. It ain't neither! Baron von Accordian & The ACLU Lawyer~
  6. The article isn't BSA bashing. It is poking fun at the idea that just because the Oath & Law refer to God doesn't mean bad things won't happen. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  7. The BSA refers to "God" as the "creator" of the world around us. That's creationism. Creationism - Belief in the literal interpretation of the account of the creation of the universe and of all living things related in the Bible. If Bob is correct, then the BSA does support creationism. Do they promote it? Not really. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  8. I stand corrected. Now, Merlyn, how about those other questions I asked you?
  9. The reason I ask "Do you believe in God?" at the beginning of the BOR is so we don't string the Scout along if he doesn't believe in God. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  10. meamemg, I don't have any Buddhists in my Troop. Hunt, I not suggesting they are liars. I'm just asking a question. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  11. One of the committee's reasoning is "What is he getting from being with boys that don't like him, don't want him there, and now are "afraid" of him." And what is this boy going to take away from this? It's always his fault. Not a good thing. If more than one was the instigator, then they should be dealt with equally. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  12. Actually, Hunt, I don't know the answer. I can assume since the Scout Spirit requirement is signed off the Scout does believe in God. But I don't know for sure until I ask "Do you believe in God?" I could ask the way others have suggested but the answer will not guarantee the Scout believes in God. He could say he goes to church every Sunday & helps out in his church's nursery. That's all good stuff. But that doesn't require a belief in God. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  13. Sounds like the karate stance kid started the last incident. Is the committee looking to boot him, too? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  14. Leave the accordion, take the canoli. Don't Shoot, I'm Only the ACLU Accordion Player. You Can tune a Lawyer But You Can't Tune an Accordion. I got millions of 'em!
  15. acco, I like it. Nice change. Earning the Cooking MB & believing in God are completely different things. If a Scout (or Scouter) doesn't believe in God, how can they live up to the Scout Oath & Law? I see no reason to "sugar coat" the question. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  16. Well yes, the law struck down in Stone v. Graham that I cited earlier. Posting the ten commandments in public schools. Posting the Ten Commandments in public school was not a law. One was created to have them removed. So the question is still unanswered. Merlyn, You are pro-abortion? If I might ask, why? Prairie, I don't think I ever mentioned "the injection of the soul". Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  17. Why don't lawyers play the accordion? Because they can make the same noise everytime they open their mouths!
  18. I'm with Semper on this one. What is the point of posting this? Satire is a form of humor that is not always to the liking of the masses. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  19. acco, Was a Scoutmaster. I stepped down last year. I am now the Advancement Chair for my Troop. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  20. Prairie, And those same states probably allow abortion of that same fetus! What's the difference if a fetus is killed when it's mother is murdered or aborted? One is a medical procedure. Both are murder. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  21. My question is what I use in my unit for BOR's. And it is a valid question. If the Scout answers no, how can he pass his BOR? How is the Scout living his everyday life according to the Scout Oath & Law if he has no belief in God? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  22. I need some clarification. Is this the 1st incident this Scout has been involved in or is this just the latest in a long list of incidents this Scout has been involved in? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  23. OK. If abortion isn't murder then why when someone murders a pregnant woman & the fetus dies, too the murderer is charged with two murders? Oh! Let me answer! Because it isn't a medical procedure! Good points, Bob White. Very good points~ Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  24. When I ask "Do you believe in God?" all I am expecting is a yes or no. Yes we go on. No we stop. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  25. Murder is murder whether it is legal or illegal. Prairie, No I mean abortion is murder. A fetus is a living thing. Killing a living thing is murder. Abortion is legal murder because it is considered a medical procedure. Yes a woman should have control over her body. She can say "no" so she doesn't get pregnant. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
