  1. Toss profit margins out the window. Since there is a great disparity in product price, profit margins have no bearing. I think the real issue is what do you get for your money. The quality of GS cookies & BS popcorn are both good. The difference is the cost. And the price of Boy Scout popcorn is not thrifty! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  2. The question here is not what evidence do I have, The question is what evidence does HE have. To this point he has not offered one iota of factual data to support a single conclusion he has put forward. He makes wild accusations leading him to unprovable conclusions. And you will notice that I am not the only to have seen through his charade. You are simply one of a few who as yet have not. I'll rephrase one of your "lines", Bob. Again, you have no facts to disprove jkhny's posts. Sure he rants on! Sure some of his stuff makes no sense. But you, Bob, have not offered on iota of proof to back up you statements, either. So get off the pot & prove jkhny wrong. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  3. . Again you have no data to support anything you state. A classic line, Bob. What facts do you have to refute what jkhny has posted? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  4. GS cookies are more affordable. I paid $3/box and bought 4 boxes. For the same price I would be able to buy the 11 oz Carmel Corn & get $3 in change! You tell me what the better value is. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  5. Unlawful government support! Horse apples! Supporting the BSA is as unlawful as driving 55 mph in a 55 mph zone. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  6. I do have an understanding of how a District works & I do have some familiarity with Council operations. I have never been asked to serve at the National level and according to you, I don't need to know anything about what happens on a National level. If you have that's wonderful! I guess that makes you a better Scouter than me! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  7. On the contrary Ed. You have professed to be 'trained' a "trainer" and a "commissioner". How could you NOT be aware of the various responsibilities of the various administative levels of scouting and yet be trained, train others, and perform commissioner responsibilities? Yes Bob. I have been trained, lead training and am a commissioner. I never stated I am unaware of the various responsibilities at various levels. What I said was I do not have an accurate list of those responsibilities not do I know what they are. I have never been trained on a National basis nor have I done training on a National basis. Strictly District. And according to you, I don't need to worry about it. How do you teach what you do not know? I don't teach what I don't know. Where have I ever posted that? How can you say I did not answer? My responses are there to read with the responsibilities listed, You have constantly dodge questions by answering them with more questions! I cannot however find your list. I now know that you after several years as a trainer...you never knew! I don't have a list! Never said I did. You did! And you also stated "Why would a scouter who is successful at their position be worrying about the structure at national? Why would a successful scouter need to worry about national policy?" So why do I need to have a list? I don't need to worry about anything at National! Bob, I have never professed to know how National operates. You have. Yet why do you need to know or care since a successful Scouter such as yourself shouldn't need to worry about National! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  8. Well, Merlyn, I doubt if they will be sued for religious discrimination or anything else for that fact. You seem to be the only one that gives a horse apple! Are you sure about your statement? Better check before you are! But then again, you really aren't concerned with any other organizations or the facts. Your and the ACLU's only concern is the destruction of the BSA at any cost! That ain't gonna happen, son. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  9. Sure Bob! I will answer to the best of my ability. That answer would be I have no idea. Nor have I ever professed to. You, however have professed to have the answer yet you refuse to share. Not a real big surprise. Merlyn, I know of many public schools that still charter Scout units. You are really gonna have to do some work to get this blatant & rampant practice stopped. And while you are at it, go after all those other discriminatory organizations that do the same thing. Oh wait! I forgot! You don't care about them! You only want to try to destroy the BSA! Keep trying! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to National, Webelos are not allowed to participate in Boy Scout camporees. I don't agree with the policy but I think it is policy. Now, you could hold a Webelos camporee along side of a Boy Scout camporee. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  11. NeilLup, And you assume that is what is going on? Scouts being dishonest! I don't think so. Ass-u-me is not a good thing to do. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  12. I'm sure there is probably a point somewhere that isn't getting through my thick skull! All these articles about bad Boy Scout this & bad Boy Scout that! You'd think this is an ACLU site! Like I said, I'm almost probably sure there is a point likely somewhere.
  13. Considering Ganesh is a Hindu god, probably. While I don't believe what Hindi believe, the Scout does believe in a god. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  14. Never underestimate anyone's abilities or responsibilities!
  15. I don't believe Scouts should have cell phones at camp. The adult leadership should have them for emergency use. Plus, most camps have pay phones they can use in case of emergency. And a phone call in no way replaces a visit from mom & dad. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  16. I don't think the BSA is a sinking ship. It does have some holes in its hull, though. The handling of recent events at National has not helped. And what National does effects the entire organization. If not in reality then in perception. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  17. You guys keep forgetting the BSA is always right! No matter what they do! Mr Williams salary is not out of line! Actually, he should make more! How can we help that happen! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  18. No, asking "do you believe in God" is not an offensive question it is simply an inappropriate one for the purpose of a Board of review. There is no advancement requirement related to the question. Ahh but there is! The advancement requirement is that the Scout does his duty to God and is Reverent toward God. You should ask about those requirements if you are to conduct the board correctly. How can one do their duty to God if they don't believe in God? The BoR is not responsible for determining membership requirements, only advancement. Asking "Do you believe in God?" isn't determining membership requirements. It's a straight forward question that requires a straight forward answer. And as I have stated in this post and others a Scout can't do his duty to God if he doesn't believe in God. Therefore, not living his everyday life according to the Oath. Therefore, not demonstrating Scout Spirit. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  19. "Th Quick and the Dead" Great western with Sharon Stone, Leo DiCapro & Gene Hackman! Set in the town of Redemption!
  20. janssenil, So your son had his cell phone & never used it. Probably forgot he had it & wouldn't have known if he lost it! Great! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  21. Cost of uniform soccer 120/12=$10 per event Cubscouts 107.3/104=$1.03 per event Scouting uniform approx. 10X less expensive than the soccer uniform # of recognition in a season Soccer probably 1 Cub Scouts (minimum) 12 104? Where did that number come from? It would be more like Uniform $107.30 Dues $5/month (for 3 years) $180.00 Summer Camp (for 3 years) $600.00 TOTAL $887.30 Number of events Max 72 $887.30/72 = $12.32 per event Remember, there are other costs associated with Scouting that are not associated with sports. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  22. Any question asked can be perceived many ways. Should that stop us from asking questions? No. As Advancement Chair of my Troop, it is my responsibility to ensure each Scout that comes before me for a BOR meets the requirements for rank. One of those requirements is "duty to God". If one doesn't believe in God, how can one due their duty to God? I will continue to ask "Do you believe in God"? Is this an offensive question? No. Is it a tough question? Yes. Is our relationship with God personal? Yes, but personal doesn't mean it must be private. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
