  1. He narrated Fractured Fairy Tales!
  2. Actually, I think he was Wild Eagle's half brother on his sisters side! "Why's everybody say your so dumb?"
  3. The reading requirements for Reading can be completed in most school English classes over time. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  4. Define ethical, Merlyn. Then after you define ethical, take a look at your own life & see if it fits the definition. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  5. Great post Hunt! Merlyn, Spin it anyway you want but your comparisons are lame. They don't even apply! There is not difference to a group being exclusive or excluding another group. And neither are discriminating. Go pick on the Girl Scouts or DAR! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  6. Give me a couple days & I'll give you a great skit you would be able to use at any BSA campfire! And give me a couple more days & I'll give you a song, too! Prairie, it is interesting how you singled me out when several others have asked the very same question. Maybe cause you brought it up 1st? Just a thought! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  7. I'm gonna take a stab at something. I think the point to this thread is "Is morality relative?" And to answer that one would have to define morality. And as far as I know, other than personality morality, I don't think a general definition of morality exists. 'Nuff said! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  8. WOW! Sounds like someone had an axe to grind! How did this lady know the Scout hadn't listed the unfinished door as a plan change in the final draft? These are the kind of people you'd like to take out back! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  9. I'll bet you'll see a marked increase in Computers since the badge has been updated. The Fingerprinting numbers surprised me. So did the Art numbers.
  10. Excellent story! Thanks for sharing TP!
  11. I wasn't asking for nor was I looking for help nor did I not know what to say, Bob and your posts you are referring to were of no help anyway. But thanks for trying. madkins, The examples you gave are what I was talking about. If we at the grassroots level can't answer questions like these or our answer is "Because the BSA said so" then we are doing a great disservice. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  12. OK. Now we return you to our regular topic. Does anyone have any other ideas for ASM59? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  13. What doubt does the SM have? Is there something that has happened with this Scout outside of Scouting? Who are these others? Is their doubt justified? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  14. I counted over 20 MB pamphlets with a revision date prior to 1999. Change is good. But change just for change sakes usually isn't good. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And the BSA ain't broke. I would say if the BSA allowed avowed homosexuals & atheists to join, the flood gates would open & the membership would dwindle down. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  15. packsaddle, I think you could be right. The CO does own all the assets and if the CO doesn't want to give up the gear and/or checking account, they don't have to. And if the school allows other groups to meet at the school, they would then be discriminating if the PTA took over the charter & didn't allow the Pack to meet at the school. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  16. I'd go right to the source. Get the two alleged fighters together & flat out ask them if they were fighting! What you do from there would depend on their answers. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  17. I know it is illegal to not hire someone based on sexual orientation. But it is done. I know that doesn't make it right. And I wasn't trying to compare the two. And this isn't the topic of this thread. Good luck on finding a new charter partner. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  18. I was gonna suggest the PTA, too. What about the local churchs? Their reason for dropping the Pack is the BSAs policy regarding the whole homosexuality issue. That's sad. I wonder if they would knowing hire a gay teacher. And if they did & the parents found out, what would happen. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  19. Its a good answer when you remember what your personal responsibilities to scouting are. They do not include determining or approving national policies or program. As commissioners our job is to support those decisions not make them. The fact that representatives of the chartering organizations that contract to use the program, reviewed and approved this policy, is all the detail needed to do the job you accepted. I don't think anyone is trying to determine or approve National policies or goals. I think what we are doing is asking "Why" to some of those policies or goals so we can be better informed when we support them. "Because National said so" is not a good answer. The BSA expects the Scouts to "Be Prepared" and we, as adult leaders, need to just as prepared. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  20. Looks like we have agreement! "prairies while I understand your opinion the fact is thaqt it does match the facts." Now that's settled, let's move on to "helping boys make ethical & moral decisions." Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  21. Does anyone have any actual data to back up why membership is down nationally? Are recruitment numbers down? Are we losing kids along the way? Both? Or is it house cleaning? I looked on the BSA site & everything there is a couple years old. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  22. I don't think anyone is saying they are due an explanation. I think what posters are saying is if National is making position statements, it would be nice if the rank & file knew the logic & reasoning behind those statements in the event they are asked by parents or anyone else. That's all. It's kinda tough to answer a question with "Because National says so." Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  23. ehcalum, I like the patrol yell!! "I'm a TALON you, we're the eagles!" NE-V-120 Eagle Patrol Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
