When I received mine, I received the medal, know & tie tack. I wear each with awe and honor. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 Happy New Year to all

Happy Channukah to all who celebrate!

SR540, I know it's hard for humans to grasp this concept. I struggle with certain things myself. But if one proclaims Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior and is a hit man for the mob, will he spend eternity in heaven? Is Tookie there? While I know we don't know for sure I would say no. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all

I read the entire thing. It's not hazing! Unusual but not hazing! And if you consider this hazing, what about the OA tap out & Ordeal ceremonies? If this tent setting up method is hazing then those should be criminal offenses! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all

A blessed Christmas to all! It was the girl in "White Christmas" Danny Kaye introduced to Bing Crosby at the cast party. I can't remember her name.

Faith & deeds work together. One with out the other is like missing one leg. You need both. I suggest you re-read those bible passages. You might be surprised at what you learn. Ever wonder why bad things happen to good people? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all

Gern, I don't even know where to start explaining what you fail to understand. I'll let the posts between this & your last post do the explaining. I will pray for you for understanding. You need it. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all

The problem with the "if I live my life good, I'll go to heaven" argument is that contemporary protestant Christianity doesn't support that. Admission to heaven is by accepting Jesus only. Your deeds here on earth don't enter into it. Catholics on the other hand do require good deeds on earth and belief in Jesus to enter heaven. Not sure the criteria for Muslims. So yes, in the protestant Christian world, even Tookie Williams got entry past the pearly gates if he truly accepted Jesus before he was executed. While I don't know much about the Muslim faith I was raised Catholic & currently a Presbyterian I can tell you you really have no idea what you are talking about. I doubt if Tookie is in heaven. A death bed profession of faith doesn't undo all the years of sin. This is a common misconception. Works along with acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior is the path to heaven. Not one or the other. Both together. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all

So a Scout is asked to clean a pot & he feels he is being singled out & pressured he is being hazed? Or a Scout is asked to lead a flag ceremony & he feels he is being singled out & pressured he is being hazes? If that is your definition of hazing, then every Scout in every Troop has been hazed at some point. Get real! The way this Troop sets up their tents is unusual but in no way is it hazing! Dan, You read too much into two words. Take it for what it means. Merry Christmas. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all(This message has been edited by evmori)

scoutldr, While I don't agree with the method used it is in no way hazing! Your dictionary definition doesn't fit because setting up a tent isn't a meaningless task! Now whipping the Scouts with reeds while they try to set up tents, that's hazing! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all

Borders on hazing????? Huh?????? There is no way this is even close to hazing! Inconsiderate, maybe, but hazing! I guess kitchen clean up is hazing then! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all

Things in our lives that may conflict with Scouting
evmori replied to EagleScout316's topic in Issues & Politics
Thanks for any prayers. But I gotta just say, it's really easy to say that it's Satan's work at hand, and just as easy to say that it's God's work at hand. But no one on this planet will ever completely know for sure. At least I consulted a priest before anything else. God will never place you in harms way. Satan will all the time. What did your priest say? Does money always have to be about greed and joining Satanic forces? What exactly is the right thing in this situation? No money isn't always about greed & joining Satanic forces. But if the money comes from questionable sources, it probably has something to do with either greed or Satan or both. What's the right thing to do? Pray about it. Pray for God's guidance. It's too bad that no man in the world can really say, as God is God, and man is man. In the end, I guess I'll just have to follow my own heart. Let's hope I'm right. Don't hope. Know. Apparently you aren't 100% sold on doing this since you seem to have so much conflict about it. Wonder if that means something? I'd bet it does. Excellent analogy SR540! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all -
In our unit, the SPL & ASPL & PL's assist the younger Scouts with setting up their tents. Then, they set their's up. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all

None the less, both are theory. And should be taught as such. Evolution is taught as fact! The ruling was ID can't be required teaching. Key word required. It can and should be taught. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all
-
So because ID is a religious based scientific theory it can't be included in public schools? How is that fair? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all
-
I will agree that things do evolve, but how that happens is the question and that's where the theory part comes into play. So teaching evolution as fact without also teaching all the possible theory gives a one sided and inaccurate view of evolution. A Doonesbury cartoon is hardly proof of anything except humor! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all

If Christ was never born, we wouldn't be having this discussion! We'd be sacrificing a lamb to atone for our sins instead. The root of the celebration has nothing to do with winter solstice. The root of the celebration is Christs' birth! There is nothing wrong with "Happy Holidays". There is nothing wrong "Merry Christmas". What drives me nuts is when someone tries to justify using "Happy Holidays" because they don't want to "offend" someone. Who cares! If you say "Merry Christmas" to someone & they are offended too bad! OGE hit it on the head with his quote from Ricky Nelson. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all
-
If I'm not mistaken, the ruling was intelligent couldn't be required teaching in public schools. That doesn't eliminate a teacher from referring to it or even teaching it along with the theory of evolution. So actually, no one won or lost. Things remain the same. Does the program hall have plugs? Take an extra set of batteries. Have two sets charged. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all

I agree with Purcelce. Toss the rule of thumb in the trash! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all

Rooster, so "peace on Earth, good will toward men" is NOT an appropriate sentiment of the Christmas season? I just want to be sure, so as not to offend. Nope that is an appropriate sentiment. SR540Beaver, I agree with you in principle, as long as respecting my "right to believe" also means that my beliefs will not be publically mocked or belittled, and that I won't be told I'm going to the Christian's hot place because of my beliefs. For example: "I respect your right to worship the Devil himself and to condemn your soul to eternal suffering because of it" Nah, that kind of respect doesn't work for me, either.... (Not that I've gotten that on this forum; at least, not as blatantly as that). Respecting you right to your beliefs and condoning them are two different things. And Ed, I, for one, can't say I'll feel left out. Never been a big fan of restricted membership policies. Sorry we won't be in the same place for eternity. If it was me, I would decline to work there because it conflicts with what I believe. It's up to you to decide if the money is worth it or not to compromise your values. For me the answer is no. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 A blessed Christmas to all
