What happened on 9/11 was a great tragedy caused for no reason other than to inflict terror. If we forget this event, the terrorists win. Never forget! Always remember! We were attacked by a bunch of cowards. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 Here We Go Steelers!

Not a pretty win but a win. The Steeler defense was the MVP. Mick did a great job at half time! The Star Spangled Banner was also good. Some people just have no musical taste! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 Here We Go Steelers!

The jersey color makes no difference. It's the man underneath that makes the difference. That's why the Steelers will win! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Steelers all the way! Seahawks don't have a prayer!

Excellent questions, OGE!

I agree with scoutldr 100%! If you are living under my roof you are my responsibility. There is no invasion of privacy! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Thanks for clearing that up, OGE.

Gern, I was never expecting us to get out of the area soon. We are fighting terrorism. That's a lot different than WWII or even Korea. It's gonna take time. And I feel, to make this a safer world, it's worth it. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

I'm not saying there should be a Troop participation quota. The quote states "outside of scouts". That's what I have a problem with. Scout Spirit includes Scouts and everything else. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

I'm not trying to stick up for Busk, Kerry or "we are the President", but I consider Saddam a weapon of mass destruction & we got him, didn't we? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

I didn't want to hijack another thread about this. The kind that has had the explanation that Scout Spirit is defined as the way a scout lives the Oath and Law outside of scouts, yet still wants to tie signing off on scout spirit to participation in troop events. If I'm not mistaken, the requirement states "Demonstrate scout spirit by living the Scout Oath (Promise) and Scout Law in your everyday life" Everyday means everyday including Scouts. Ours are in a 3 ring binder in my Scout file cabinet!

We allow it to continue because most don't want to "hurt someone's feelings". Not a good reason.

taamland, I agree 100%. The Scouts are the ones earning the merit badges, we aren't. It is a good thing to check on their progress & make sure they are actually attending their MB classes. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Nice thought, OGE, but don't count on it. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Bad MBC! Once a MB counselor signs off a requirement, it's completed! It sounds like there is more going on here than we know, though. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

troop's OWN requirements for advancement... allowed?
evmori replied to mom2scouts's topic in Advancement Resources
The problem I have with the SM telling the Scout the poster isn't good enough is there is no requirement as to how good it has to be. Scouting isn't school. There are no A, B, C, etc. The requirements are worded "Participate in, Discuss, Demonstrate, etc". Sure a Scout is to do his best. And that should be encouraged and emphasized at all times. But telling a Scout "this isn't good enough do it over" for a requirement that states "participate in" is just a power trip and wrong. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
Time might stand still & Hades might get frigid, but I have to agree with Merlyn. This, unfortunately, has happened in the past, too. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

We have our 1st year Scouts sign up for leatherwork, wood carving, basketry & wilderness Survival. Our Trail to First Class program at camp isn't that great and this way the Scouts will come home with four badges & some real cool projects! It also keeps them busy. The other Scouts pick what they want to take. We offer guidance there. As far as the pre-reqs, we pass out the merit badge list from our summer camp packet. It lists all the badges & the pre-reqs. After the Scouts complete their merit badge selections, we put together a schedule for each Scout listing the badge, time & pre-reqs. It is up to the Scouts to get the pre-reqs done. Summer camp partials can be annoying. We tell the Scouts they must try to finish their summer camp partials by the next summer camp or they must try to complete them their. We've had pretty good success this way. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Let's see. Male priests having sex with young males. Same sex sex. Homosexual sex. Sure these guys are pedophiles! That doesn't mean they aren't gay! If the BSA ever allows gays & atheists, they will be heading down a slippery slope they will never recover from. People will leave in droves and the BSA will cease to exist. I doubt if this will ever happen since I don't think the BSA will ever cave in to the homosexuals & atheists. I would never let my son go on a camping trip with a homosexual. I would not take the chance of putting in that type of harm's way. If I did and something happened, I would never be able to forgive myself & I would probably end up in jail. I would not be willing to take that chance. Oh yeah, I grew up Catholic, too! And it was more than a "couple" priests. There were lots & they were transferred around to keep them from getting caught! So the higher ups were just as responsible for all the wrong-doing as those doing wrong. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Lisabob, So you feel homosexuals should be allowed to be members of the BSA. And you think the BSA's public image suffers because of their policy toward homosexuals. Interesting. Would you want you son to go camping with a group of homosexuals? Did all the press the Catholic church received over it's homosexual priest problem help its image? Also interesting is the statement that liberals stand up for the core freedoms in the 1st Amendment. I am not a liberal and I am a staunch believe in all the Amendments. They are why we are America! But if you are equating the BSA not permitting homosexuals and atheists to be members as being a violation of the 1st or any other Amendment, you are incorrect. There is no violation. The BSA is a private organization and can therefore set its own membership requirement. One doesn't need to be a liberal to defend the Constitution. One just needs to be an American that loves this country. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

We are being gouged by big oil. No doubt. The individual stations aren't making that much although they are starting to cash in more these days. Here's a link if you want to find gas prices in your area http://www.gasbuddy.com/ And here is a link to track wholesale gas prices. http://www2.barchart.com/dfutpage.asp?sym=hu Now to figure out what price you should pay you will need to know what your respective state taxes on gas are and add that to the wholesale price in the chart. For PA, the retail price should at a zero margin should be $2.14/gallon. The average price in PA now is about $2.40 so the stations are making roughly .24/gallon. That might not seem like much but before the prices started to rise, they were making about .12/gallon. This in no way explains why prices are so high, but it does give us a consumers a way to pay the cheapest price we can. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
