  1. Did we scare the original poster away? Once a MB is signed off by a registered counselor, it's done deal.
  2. Zero tolerance and diversity are completely different things. Zero tolerance, like Calico posted, is decision making for morons while diversity is the same as political correctness.
  3. It's been fun but now it's done! Godspeed my friend!
  4. So why would profession scouters not like it????? Dragging scouting back outdoors?????? Because we would find out how inept they are??????????????????
  5. You search everything, and if you find it, the kid is gone. I don't care "how much he's worked for it". That is the most lame excuse yet. And what if you find porn in another kid's sack! And a bag of bullets in another kid's sack! And the watch you lost last month in another kid's sack! This isn't a school so all the "school rules" don't apply. And there is no evidence anything illegal exists. And the BSA doesn't have a zero tolerance policy (in my opinion zero tolerance policies are stupid).
  6. When my district does camporees, they try to get a Catholic priest, a Protestant minister and a rabbi for services.
  7. The one website rule of Scouting you need to remember is no photography of kids with full names. Don't give a pedophile or a kidnapper a target. While this is a rule for BSA administered sites, this doesn't apply to non-BSA administered sites. That said, it is a good rule of thumb to follow and could be extremely hard to control on Facebook.
  8. Sounds like this could be a good Eagle project but it seems a little light. How may bookshelves? How are they building them? Bunch of other questions rambling around my head, too.
  9. If this were a school trip...what would they do? They would call the Police immediately and have them search. That is what you should do. This isn't school. I see no reason to do anything except go on the trip & pay attention to the Scout in question.
  10. Totally appropriate at a worship service anywhere.
  11. Sorta sounds like a game of chance or raffle which is not allowed.
  12. I'm more concerned by the form of the tip - anonymous. And how real is this hypothetical situation? Or is someone trolling for info on how to get away with this?
  13. I flat out tell the boys, my price for a seat in my van is a full uniform. Don't like it, get your mom to drive and I'll see you at he campout. Never forced a scout to wear the uniform, their mom's may have but not me. Anyone else notice the contradiction in this?
  14. Pie is the best form of entertainment! Ed
  15. The judge could be an idiot; he was in Boy Scouts and didn't recuse himself. Not even an issue!
  16. Short answer - No. Long answer - No way!
  17. As adults, we need to make sure the resources are available and present the opportunities for the Scouts in our units to advance. It is up to the Scouts to take advantage of the resources and opportunities. As OGE so aptly stated, the certificate will have the Scout's name on it, not ours.
  18. Have you considered asking the Scouts in your unit what they think they will need? Does the camp supply anything for patrol cooking? I know the summer camp we attend does.
  19. Sounds like spin time! If a belief and opinion are the same thing then believing there is no God is an opinion.
  20. Belief an opinion? So your lack of belief in God is just an opinion, Merlyn?
