We could never use our cattle prods at camp. Couldn't find a current bush with enough power! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

ED: Did anyone notice atheist is on the list? Sure, its the UUC silly. They accept everyone! I meant not on the list. The UUC might accept everyone but atheists don't. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Let's see, I was a ASM for 1 year then the CC for 5 years & SM for 7 years & ASM for 2 years and a CM prior to that for 3 years. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Eamonn, I gotta agree. There seems to be a lack of leadership! While this is a great thing to do, it is worthy of being an Eagle Project. Who approved this? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Church was for Sunday and God didn't get in the way on the other days unless it was Christmas dinner and then I usually got tapped to speak to him. God didn't get in the way? How would God get in the way? That kinda statement really chaps my shorts! Satan gets in the way! Not God! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Court Ruling Prompts Ban on Groups Sending Fliers Home With Students
evmori replied to fgoodwin's topic in Issues & Politics
Ah but if the BSA unit is chartered by the PTA, then there is a school tie! And if the Bible Thumpers Club that the school runs wants to send fliers home they should be able to because they have ties with the school! So under this new policy, are teachers and administrators sending fliers home? They shouldn't be! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
Parents File Lawsuit Against Boy Scout Troop
evmori replied to fgoodwin's topic in Issues & Politics
Requiring dad to accompany his son to Troop meeting & outings in no way limits the Scout's ability to advance unless dad can't or doesn't want to! And this boy is 11 years old! What rank is he advancing to? Tenderfoot? This sounds like mom wants the playing field tilted for her son. She is also an autistic advocate. I wouldn't settle this case. Let her prove her case. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
Seems like a great project. The 12 years is probably the amount of time this boy has been in Scouting. What's the catch, OGE? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Parents File Lawsuit Against Boy Scout Troop
evmori replied to fgoodwin's topic in Issues & Politics
The mom in this case is a bankruptcy attorney in the Los Angeles area. It doesn't sound like this Scout was denied anything. It sounds like the Troop was requiring his dad to be present to help with his son. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe the suit should be filed against dad! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -

Court Ruling Prompts Ban on Groups Sending Fliers Home With Students

Because they are violating equal access, which is the law for public schools. So it's OK if NAMBALA sends home fliers to school aged children? -
Court Ruling Prompts Ban on Groups Sending Fliers Home With Students
evmori replied to fgoodwin's topic in Issues & Politics
So a group submits a flier to be sent home & the powers that be say no. How is that unconstitutional? -
Chippewa: "What bothers me is that a new Scout comes to one or two meetings, then decides that Scouts aren't what he thought they would be, and quits." So, would it be better to have this scout feel obligated to keep coming for six months, and be miserable the entire time? I don't think any boy joins scouts intending to quit after a couple of meetings. I'm sure if you asked all of them when they joined if they thought they would be around for at least six months, they'd all say yes. I have a problem with this logic. If you sign up for something then you should see it through for the time you signed up for. If it's a year then stick it out for a year. If it's until it's time to recharter, then stick it out until then. One or two meetings isn't giving anything a fair chance! There's another thread going on discussing commitment. This is the same thing! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Not that big of a deal! It the sign up info is available at a separate table then it can still get home. Gotta love this kinda stuff! What about this is unconstitutional & how did this debacle get started? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
I've sorta looked at it like a mass mailing plan. The more mail you send out the better your chance. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

I would not go to the meeting. You can't win. I would look for a new Troop that is boy-run ASAP. The one you are in isn't and never will be. I would tell the SM you need to reschedule the meeting & go Troop shopping with your son. He and you will be better off. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

New First Class requirement: "invite" a friend
evmori replied to fgoodwin's topic in Advancement Resources
Gern, Eligible when? Today? Tomorrow? In two weeks? In two years? The requirement doesn't say so wouldn't restricting this to any age group of boys be adding to the requirements? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
I gotta agree with ScoutNut! Suspending a Scout because of a single use of the F-word is way over the top. An apology yes. Theft, deliberately causing personal injury are a couple reasons to suspend a Scout. But not one f-word use! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

New First Class requirement: "invite" a friend
evmori replied to fgoodwin's topic in Advancement Resources
1st you tell someone then you invite them. But they must be eligible. Does that mean they must be eligible to join right away? The requirement doesn't say. A den chief for a Bear den could meet this requirement by telling the Bear den about his Troop & inviting them to a COR! Requirement completed! It's still stupid. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
