  1. Can you give some examples/instances of how "homosexual activists" are pushing their view in the public schools? Check out what's on the California legislature's agenda. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  2. Mama Bear, While I don't think hazing is proper, I'm a little confused by what is & isn't allowed at Mackinaw Island. It sounds like the Scouts don't have to do anything they don't want to do. Who made these laws? Was your husband's WB course held at Mackinaw Island? Is this where you attend summer camp? If not, why do the laws from Mackinaw Island apply anywhere but Mackinaw Island? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  3. In the September 2006 edition of Scouting there is a great article on autism. The last paragraph is a quote from a mom of an autistic Scout - "Get involved to some extent. See how independent your son can get, but support the leaders. Don't just leave your son. Remember, these leaders are volunteers. Very well put! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  4. N. Jane DuBovy said in a statement that she and her husband "know that our child is capable of handling the rigors of scouting with minor accommodations." Guess the minor accommodation of having dad present is what they meant. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  5. FScouter is correct. Plus, as someone else posted, if the other requirements aren't completed the rank isn't completed. The BOR made a big mistake & it needs to be corrected. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  6. Have a get together with the new parents & explain your unit requires all new leaders to complete the appropriate training for their position before they have any authority to do anything in the unit. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  7. A year probation seems a little stiff but other than that it seems appropriate. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  8. If the article is accurate, the Troop could be in a little hot water! It still seems like a stunt to get mom's agenda pushed. Remember she is an advocate for autism and an attorney. Google her! Why couldn't dad go on the camping trips? Didn't he want to bond with his son? Why didn't mom go? Was she too busy suing people? Why is it always someone else's fault when you can't or won't do something for your kid? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  9. We are doing the children of today a huge disservice by being over protective. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  10. FireKat hit the nail on the head. It seems parents today don't want little Johnny to have to exert himself too much to get anything. And when he has to, it is cruel. Bull! If boys don't learn that not everything is going to be handed to them or they are going to have to do things the way someone else wants them to do them then life will be very hard & sad for them. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  11. MarkS, You make a good point. But nowhere is advancement required to be a member of a Troop. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  12. Great job! I'm sure the ceremony was wonderful!
  13. If gays marrying gays becomes the norm then our society will die out. Maybe not in two years or two decades, but it will die out. Why? Gays can't procreate. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  14. I understand fine, Merlyn. However, your argument regarding gays being forced into sham marriages is totally pointless since it is, as someone said, a load of crap! You might believe it but that don't make it a fact! In fact, it's totally baseless! Like most of your drivel! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  15. Yeah I know gays can marry each other in Massachusetts. For now. You can say anything you want, Merlyn. It still makes no sense. And you think others have a comprehension problem! Whew! Keep spinning, Merlyn. It's what you do best. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  16. Ed, if someone who's gay wants to get married, and a "defender" of marriage says they CAN marry, just someone of the opposite sex, yes, they are suggesting that gays enter into such sham marriages. They're saying that gays CAN marry, they just have to marry someone they have no sexual attraction towards. If you actually believe this, Merlyn, you have a very skewed view of reality. By stating a person must marry someone of the opposite sex isn't suggesting anything - it is a statement of fact. To legally marry, it must be to someone of the opposite sex. If they don't want to marry someone of the opposite sex no one is forcing them to. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  17. I pointed out that people "defending" marriage by denying it to gays (and pointing out that "gays can still get married") are encouraging sham marriages. You actually believe that, Merlyn? That is the dumbest statement I ever heard! You might as well say single people buy pets so they feel loved! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  18. Can anyone reference a society that allowed open homosexuality that survived? The USA, all European nations, pretty much the entire world as we know it now, except those controlled by Islamic theocracies. Let me rephrase Can anyone reference a society that had predominantly homosexuality lifestyle that survived? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  19. So apparently homosexuals want special rights! Can anyone reference a society that allowed open homosexuality that survived? Does anyone have proof homosexuality is nothing more than a lifestyle? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  20. I love my mom but I can't marry her! I love my daughter but I can't marry her. Love has nothing to do with the legal concept of marriage. Serving in the military isn't a right. It's an option. If states start passing laws in favor of gay rights, what is the next lifestyle that will want special rights? Maybe beer drinkers? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  21. I agree, the Eagle Court of Honor is for the most part in the scouts hands. The only reason I feel this person should have any say in it is if they found an error in the program, not changing the program. Nope. An Eagle CoH is the responsibility of the Eagle & his family. This guy has no say in anything. And what errors could there be? There is no standard Eagle CoH. They can all be different! It's up to the Eagle & his family. And if they don't want an Eagle CoH, that's OK, too! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  22. Exactly my point, yellow hammer, only you stated it better than I did. "There is no right that I have that a homosexual does not also have." Speaking of pure baloney.... OK Dan, what rights don't homosexuals have that I have? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)
  23. FB, Excellent! Very well put! Don't gays have the same rights as no-gays? It sounds like they want tolerance of their lifestyle at any expense. That would make it special right over and above the same rights all Americans are afforded. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
  24. Once the Eagle BOR has reviewed & passed the Eagle candidate, their job is done. They have no say in what you do or don't do at a Eagle COH. That is up to the Eagle & his family. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
