Ed, if I grab the back of your skivvies and pull them over the top of your head, you would be laughing? Actually, the last time I was on the receiving end of a wedgie, I did laugh! Guess you stopped reading my post after that line, OGE. Taking life too seriously will give you ulcers. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Troop Leadership Training "mandatory" every six months?
evmori replied to fgoodwin's topic in Advancement Resources
eagle_scout98, Excellent response and excellent research. Great job! And right on the money! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -
Wedgies, while funny, have no place in Scouting. The CM made a error in judgment in this case. If this hazing? Nope. Is this child abuse? Nope. Does this CM need to be drawn & quartered? Nope. What this CM needs is to be reminded this type of action isn't allowed. I think it depends on how wet the Wet Willie is! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

When one finds your ship is sinking, tis better to repair the hole than trim the sails. Tis better to repair the hole but standing and pointing at the hole does no good. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -

Who should organize district camporees?
evmori replied to Trevorum's topic in Open Discussion - Program
In my district, the Troops run the camporees. There have been times when a group of adults not in the same Troop have taken on the task. All expenses are reimbursed by our district. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 -

I am learning as we go here. Apparently not because your site is still filled with inaccurate information. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10 Ed, there is no value in repeatedly voicing the same criticisms. Let's avoid the need to close this thread as well. Well, in my area there are two types of wedgies. One is like a hoagie made in pizza dough. The other is when someone grabs you skivvies from the back & tries to pull them up over your head. I would guess the CM was referring to the 2nd. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

#1. Boys life down 30% .. from 650K to 450K right off their rate card. Call them for one. They are free. Someone posted the actual numbers for this & 30% it ain't. The paid circulation on the BSA site is 90,154,380. No idea what year that is for. I would guess 2005. So you source that states 450K is s little off. #2. Link on my website to the BSA site showing a 10.9% venturing decline in a single year. And you continue to use this % as the average for all areas when the average is around 3%. #3. Posts on this and the other one you lurk in stating numbers are down this year, and from reliable posters. I don't lurk. And yes I know the numbers are down but they are in no way down as much as you are inferring they are. #4. I have the Aug 2006 report, as discussed on the other site, showing numbers are down, verified by other posters there. What more do you want? Do you think #s are up? What proof do you have? Thanks for posting that gobilty-goop at the bottom of your post. That was about as effective as your website. I don't think numbers are up on average. Never said I did. But you doom & gloom tale is just that, a tale. Poorly done job by a Woodbadger. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

Brian, Your website is like tofu roast beef. It looks like roast beef & smells like roast beef. But it ain't roast beef. No substance. Only complaints that seem to be only your opinions you have formed from talking to a few people & a bunch of fluff. So please quit telling everyone to read it. There is nothing to read! You never addressed the questions posters have asked about your data (the little you actually have). That's what I meant by stepping up to the plate. You might have been to the plate but your forgot to bring your bat! Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10

I am all for no electronics on campouts. That said, what you did was a good idea. You got more of the Troop out & I would bet there was a lot of bonding around the campfire listening to the game. During the winter, we sometimes cabin camp at one of our Scout camps. Usually during one of these campouts, a leader will bring along a TV & a DVD movie for Saturday night. We never tell the Scouts. The times we have done it they loved it. Parents like this can be a problem. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4;10

Welcome! How do you think the Boy Scouts of America is doing? Membership up? Kids excited? Program resonating with the youth of today? The truth is, scouting is shrinking and kids are leaving in droves. Double digit losses in some areas! The truth is the program and methods used in today's scouting simply does not appeal to many mainstream youth. Boy's Life magazine recently revised their circulation numbers on their advertising rate card, lowering their reported circulation by about 30%! Indeed, more than just a few troops cleaning up their membership rolls. (Click on the first link below for more info on how in trouble scouting is.) This is tragic because the values and principles of scouting are needed more today than ever before. We NEED scouting. And we need scouting to address the interests and needs of our young people better. Thanks for visiting my site. The new president of the BSA, William F. Cronk, said, as quoted in Scouting September 2006 page 36, " Scouting must continue to offer an attractive program 'that is relevant to kids today.'" This is a great quote, and this website is devoted to Mr. Cronk's vision of making scouting attractive to the kids of today. My experience is those who dismiss the idea that scouting is in trouble are the old timers who like scouting the way it is. They have forgotten that scouting is not about them, as adult leaders, or what they happen to like. It is about reaching boys, teaching values, and changing lives for the better. That's from your home page, Brian. Other than the small print at the top of the page that you recently added, where does it state it's your opinion & not fact? The fact is your site is a joke. It is nothing but opinion and conjecture disguised as factual. The 30% decline you state in Boys Life subscriptions isn't accurate. Nothing on your site is. You are quick to thank people for all their information but refuse to answer any questions directly posed to you. I'll ask again, what real changes do you think are needed, Brian? All you list on your site are cosmetic changes. What program changes do you think will right this sinking ship, Brian? Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori) -
pack, That and Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco. Brian, There is no need to be serious about this subject. Actually thinking that by changing an icon membership will increase is kinda funny. Ed Mori Troop 1 1 Peter 4:10
