Has anyone ever seen the damage a skateboard can do to railings & steps & walls & other stuff that wasn't built to be used by skateboards? It can be downright ugly! While I don't think banning is always the answer, a ban on banning is way to extreme. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Why not campouts? Scout aged boys have enough trouble waling around campsites let alone rolling. And I don't imagine these Heelys role very well in the dirt & mud. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Bevah makes a good point. We should be teaching kids! But the problem isn't always the kids. A lot of the time it's the kids parents. Heelys have no place in Pack meetings, Troop meetings, campouts, church, school. And if it takes a ban so be it. Kids can learn from bans, too. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Actually, Trevorum, a cult & a religion can be the same size.

Why is it every time one of us objects to being the butt of this "prank" practice, someone else pipes up to defend it and offer even more techniques? I find it rather sick. I don't think it's the objecting so much as it is the "just because we don't like it no one should" attitude. Just my opinion. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4;10

Yep pack, based on what I read on the FACTS site, a mockery. And a poor one at that. Wonder how many members or Grand Lubitz's there are? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Michael Newdow as a religious leader is a little like Oliver North as a beacon of virtue. Good observation & very accurate Lisabob. Michael Newdow's "religion" is nothing more than a mockery of Christianity. So Merlyn, are you a member? And if not, why not? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

On a different note, we have the thread on Camp Skits open, so far I have posted 3 skits, and John-in-KC has added one. Are there no more playwrights out there? Yeah but I don't want to offend anyone. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
A more interesting question is whether atheists who are members of Michael Newdow's FACTS religion are acceptable, as that is an explicitly atheistic religion Cult! And is an atheistic religion even possible? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

pack, Same thing happened to me working in a steel mill. Only it was the steel stretcher. Classic! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

If ya can't tell the difference between pranks that are not harmful & those that are ya should turn in you loops & quit. Making someone drink something harmful is not a prank. Having someone look for 50 feet of left handed shoreline is. And there is no slippery slope. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Note to Boy Scouters: Your Meetings Look Boring To Cubbers
evmori replied to Its Me's topic in Cub Scouts
~~ Temporary hijack ~~ Ed, you're absolutely right of course. Troops are way different from packs. But with respect, the "cutting and pasting and crafts" comment comes across as condescending, at least IMO. Wasn't meant to be condescending. I was a Cubmaster for three years prior to moving to Boy Scouts & I am very well aware what Cub Scouts do. The comment "Note to Cubbers: Your Meetings Look Like Friday Nights at Chucky Cheese to Boy Scouters" is also accurate. ~~ Temporary hijack complete ~~ Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
So what's the basis of allowing these yet excluding atheists if there's nothing uniting the ones who CAN be members? They believe in a god and atheists don't. Membership requirement. Nothing more. Nothing less. And if you didn't go to Harvard or Yale you can't be a member of the Harvard-Yale Club! Membership requirement. Nothing more. Nothing less. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

SSScout, What a great post! Excellent understanding of what pranks are about! Thanks for the insight! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Note to Boy Scouters: Your Meetings Look Boring To Cubbers

I know someone posted this before but I had to chime in. Troops don't cut & paste & do crafts. Packs do. Big difference. When we knew there were WEBELOS coming to visit, we had things for them to do. The guys dug out the rope machine & showed the WEBELOS how to make rope! No cutting & pasting or crafts! And the WEBELOS usually like it! Troops are way different from Packs. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
Prank Police! They could get their uniforms from the Uniform Police! Hey maybe an entire security section could be created! Patrol Police, Outdoor Police! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

But Brent if little Billy learns to tie knots without leather gloves on he might get a rope burn or if he starts that camp stove without a welders suit on he might get burned! Golly! Little Billy might no be safe! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

WTF = Weekly Trout Fry. It's a Lent thing. I think we have TMI in this thread! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

I am giving up TV news for Lent! If a kid fails it is not their fault. It is always the fault of the adult. There have been posters in this & other forums who believe this. While this is true some of the time, by always placing the fault with the adult, the kids are not held accountable for their end of the deal. And this does nothing more than set them up for more failure down the road. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

It's a sad state of affairs when Boy Scouts can't have fun unless they're hammering on their fellow Scouts. It's even sadder when adults worry too much about boys being boys. It seems when this happens, kids leave Scouting because one of the elements of fun has been removed. Another rule of pranking - If you can't take it, don't dish it. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

SR540Beaver, I have never seen anything that requires a minimum of two Scouts per tent. We have allowed the SPL to tent alone if needed. The buddy system is an excellent guideline to follow for tenting when possible. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Ed, countries that don't have nondiscrimination laws don't somehow magically balance out countries that do. I hope this isn't based on a list you put together, Merlyn, since your fact gathering is suspect. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
Yeah I know that Merlyn. And maybe some countries they don't have any discrimination laws! If you were more concerned with something that mattered like human rights then someone would care. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

No prairie, not off base at all. I'd be an observer more than anything. Remember, what you heard was from another leader in another unit. Wait until you have something to talk about before you jump in. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
