Gov. Richardson would not accept honorary BSA chair if elected
evmori replied to Merlyn_LeRoy's topic in Issues & Politics
Lot''s of truth stretching in this article! Membership in the BSA has declined since the Supreme Court ruling. As of the end of August 2007, membership is up compared to August 2006. But, in cities where agencies like the United Way continues to fund the BSA it has been alleged that troops are being encouraged to list fake names as members to boost enrolment making the group eligible for more money. Partial truth. The inference is every city which is a total falsehood. Richardson is a waffler anyway! His chances of being elected are slim to none! This is nothing more than a political ploy to get votes! And an inaccurate political ploy! If ya wanna hitch your wagon to this guy, go ahead! The line is short! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
URGENT FOR MODERATORS, MEMBERS, and SCOUTER-TERRY

Still having problems. Can''t preview a post an every apostrophe shows up ". Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
Ah! So if a public high school student wants to say a prayer as part of their commencement speech they can do that? And if the the student announcer at a public high school football game wants to say a prayer over the loudspeaker before the start of the game they can? And if the public high school student presenting the morning announcements over the PA system to the entire school wants to close with a prayer, they can? I learn fine, Merlyn. I''m not the one who is learning impaired. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

I don''t have specifics but prayer isn''t allowed in public schools. It was a long time ago, then someone got offended, sued & now there is no prayer in schools. Same with football games. And even some high school commencements. Why? Because someone was offended. We are guaranteed the free exercise of speech & religion. No where are we guaranteed we won''t be offended. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Free exercise means I am free to believe & worship any way I want without the government telling me I have to believe or worship their way. And by restricting prayer in school the government IS telling me how I can''t worship. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Thanks Ohio! Both are total twits!

I interpreted it the same as eisely! And totally disagree with the statement! Competition is competition regardless of the playing field. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

During Troop meeting they should be turned off. On campouts only the adult leaders carry them. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Scout must sell popcorn to participate?
evmori replied to hersheygirl's topic in Open Discussion - Program
And what happens if you don''t sell enough? Can''t go on any trips? Get tossed in popcorn jail? I would find another unit. This one sounds like it''s run by those folks who call you at dinner time asking for money. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
There should be a training award for this!

I like the no prize idea. Cubs are encouraged to do their best and ones best might not be the same as another. Awarding expected behavior is never a good thing. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

School SafeRides program continues without gods

I''m still waiting to here what SOX has to do with Scouting? -
Short answer - NO! I would inform the local authorities of what you know is fact. All kids parents who come in contact with the parents in question under the Cub Scout umbrella need to know, too. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Great job Joe!

This was mentioned in one of the previous posts, but needs to be brought out again. Perhaps there is too much going on, and too many stimuli for this boy. Maybe den meetings for him would be better if it was only his den in the room. Yeah maybe it would be better for him. But what about the rest of the den? Why must we always be forced to fit to the needs of few at the expense of the many? Now before ya''ll have a myocardial infarction, both my kids are deaf. They are both grown now but when they were growing up, we always stressed they will need to fit into society not society fitting into them. My son was in Scouts & earned his Eagle with no special accommodation''s. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

If a boy wants to join he can as long as he's a boy. If he is still in the process of becoming a boy, then no & I'm not sure how I feel if when she/he completes the process of membership. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10(This message has been edited by evmori)

Pizza party! Then save the rest for next year! Should help cut down on the needed funds which should reduce dues. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Hazing, bullies and duty rosters....Oh my!
evmori replied to GernBlansten's topic in Open Discussion - Program
Phone Call: "Hi Mrs Jones, I''''m Billy, Jack''''s Patrol Leader. I will be responsible for making sure Jack cleans his tent every day and does his share of the chores. He''''s a first year camper, so he may have to learn that I''''m the first judge of clean, Dave our SPL is second, and Mr Blansten our Scoutmaster is third. I hope you''''re ok with this, are you?" And what if mom''s not OK with this? What if she doesn''t want her little Jack to clean your slober off plates? This type of call should never be made by anyone! This kinda stuff is what should be discussed at the pre-summer camp meeting! And by then, the new Scouts shoulda been on a couple camping trips where they had to do these things. And yes Scouting is for all boys but all boys aren''t for Scouting. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
Yeah John, I did forget! Thanks. As far as Den Chiefs go, a million of ''em aren''t going to help this boy unless mom gets a handle on him 1st. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Hazing, bullies and duty rosters....Oh my!
evmori replied to GernBlansten's topic in Open Discussion - Program
Communication might be the problem but to categorize doing dishes & keeping tent clean as hazing indicates, at least to me, these boys don''t want to do any work and, yes, are looking for a way out. I''d bet they don''t clean their own rooms or do anything at home, either. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10 -
Toss tact to the wind! Tell mom she either controls her kid or he will not be recharted! Make sure you have the backing of your CC & I''d get your UC & DE invovved. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
