"I took the initiative in creating the Internet." And he can''t dance, either!
-
Well, Al Gore did state "I took the initiative in creating the Internet." What he meant & what he said just goes to prove he can''t put together a coherent sentence. And he is awarded a Nobel Peace Prize? He is a peer of other great thinkers & scholars? I really don''t think so. And if I''m not mistaken, isn''t Al Gores global warming footprint bigger than most? Great example! And I''m a life long registered democrat! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Thanks Vicki. I know what a parable is. And Jesus answered many questions with questions. Did the father expect the returning son to resume his expected duties? The parable doesn''t tell us, but I would say the answer is yes. Shouldn''t we expect the same from a Scout who returns after a prolonged absence? Beavah you are wise beyond your years! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Why document it? Why keep a written record? Why get a mail delivery receipt? Why??? To have a record of it being done. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
How? You tell him personally, send or give him a written notice he has been removed documenting when & why & keep a copy in the unit records. When sent via snail mail, a return receipt should be used. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

What a horrible example to set for your scouts. Yeah I''m a bad man because my opinions don''t agree with yours, RangerT. Do you have proof of global warming, RangerT, or are you just a hard-line Democrat? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
Al Gore never had an original thought in his entire life~ And he is awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for penning a book about something there is no proof is actually happening! Just like evolution! Total farce! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
Yes he did Trevorum. However, Al Gore is more of a cause of global warming than anything else! Prizes don''t define a person. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
...............and then everyone passed gas to see if the effect reversed itself! Al Gore never won the election! Al Gore was never the Presidents of the USA! Al Gore didn''t invent the internet! Al Gore can''t dance! These are all facts we must live with! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
Ah yes! The Prodigal Son! Well, if all the other analogies don''t fit, neither does this one. It''s all about choices! A boy can choose band or football or church youth group over Scouts. Or he can choose Scouts. The Prodigal Son did come back & was welcomed by his father with open arms. But did the father excuse what the son had done? We don''t really know. And let''s not forget, this is a story not a real event. We should welcome back Scouts who have been away. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

When was Al Gore the President? Al Gore is a classic homer! He invented the internet, too! Remember! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Would anyone want this parent? I would say no. Units are not required to take anyone. What this CM did was the correct thing to do especially after the parent went postal on him! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

You hit the nail on the head Beavah! Making choice is part of life. And learning to live with those choices & the outcomes of those choices isn''t always easy. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

This definition of active does nothing to promote personal responsibility or accountability of the Scout. Then again, if we as adults start making the calls, and Scotty Scout keeps saying he''''ll be at the next meeting, but also keeps no-showing, then he isn''''t living up to his word. Seems to me that''''s no longer Trustworthy, and not exhibiting Scout Spirit. Exactly! And it sure doesn''t help them make ethical choices! Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
I like the idea anarchist posted. This puts the onus on the Scout to convince the unit leadership why he should be allowed back in the unit. It''s not always the adult leadership who is at fault! I know there are some who feel that way. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
You are correct OGE. But the Scout should still show some responsibility & make the initial call. If the Scout says he isn''t coming back, send him a check for his registration fee he paid from the unit checking account & call you council & sak to have his name removed from you charter. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
I know that OGE. But shouldn''t a Scout be responsible to let his PL or SPL or SM know he will not be attending whatever? Why should the responsibility fall completely on the adult leadership when we are tasked with helping the Scouts make ethical decisions? Is being responsible part of this? Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
John, Never denied a Scout a SM conference. Have held back on the Scout Spirit requirement, though. And if the Scout wants to appeal, let him. That is his right. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10
-
Should we expect a candidate to have the two done concurrent with each other, and close to the time he applies for his final approvals? They can be concurrent but don''t have to be. As far as active, that''s a whole other discussion. Being registered isn''t being active. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

Gonzo1, Expected and required are completely different. If a baseball player doesn''t wear his uniform, he can''t play. It is required. If a Scout doesn''t wear his uniform, he can still play. It is expected, not required. Ed Mori 1 Peter 4:10

A Scout is Trustworthy: I wonder about a US Senator...

I''m with you on that, John, but the chances of an honest & trustworthy public servant seem slim. -

Was Senator Craig a Scout? -
>>For anti-uniform folks, try sending your kid to football with his jersey and pads, but a motorcycle helmet and blue jeans instead. See what happens next.
