The only way the media could be alerted is by someone in the scouting organization. The way it was presented, I'd bet it was the person who complained, not the Scouting Organization. And it could have even been the ACLU! Blanket statements are seldom correct. Arguably, it has no legitimate place in an astronomy exhibit - unless of course your objective is to promote your own religious POV (ie., the J-C-I God as the creator of those planets). I dunno. When I was a kid, I was out playing every chance I had! Never in the house unless I was sick or sleeping. Today, it seems that kids are just the opposite! Why go outside when they can sit in a nice warm or cool house (depending on the season) & play video or computer games! Helps with hand-eye coordination! No laws were violated. From the info given, the city signed off on the project. It's not the Scouts fault if it wasn't read! By allowing the Scout to place a stone that mentions God does not endorse religion! And if you think it does, what religion does it endorse? I think it was to get Scouts through the basics faster. The only problem I see with this is faster isn't necessarily better. I feel the more time spent learning, the better the retention.
